Minn Kota Weedless Wedge - Does It Work?

I am under the impression the Weedless Wedge 2 products keep the weeds from getting wrapped up around shaft, that difficult part between the prop and the shaft body. If so, it would be nice to see the WW2 line become available for the 3.25" trolling motors. Did you get the sense weeds were still getting wrapped up in that in between area of the shaft the prop mounts on? And thank you for taking the time to put this video out there for us AutoPilot'ers!

I just bought the MKP-6 yesterday. Great comparison for me. Reassured that I now have 2 props to carry one for long distance and no weeds. I am still learning lakes here in Tennessee but I was looking for a little more power and weed strategy. Thanks for the video and looking forward to others.

Thank you for doing that comparion. I believe the regular prop is going to do just fine. Haven't had a lot of problems in the back bays down here in swfl. Been running the regular prop on oyster bar and that is the biggest issue down here. Lots of knicks and cuts in my prop after 2 months use. I carry and extra prop and locknut incase of issues. Good job, thanks.

I use a weed less wedge on my MK 30lbs on my pontoon boat and have found that with this prop I can now keep up with my buddy in exactly the same boat, but with a newer 55lbs motor on his. It made my setup faster, and because of this I can now spend more time out on the lake at a lower setting without my battery going dead

Well there's not a "reverse" but you can turn the motor and bump it and it can help but not always the best.

I tried it once on my PDL drive. I didn't secure it well enough and it fell off. I'm sure it does a decent job though. Nothing is perfect and that along with the weedless prop probably works well.

CONFUSING....So apparently there was the " Original Weed Wedge " after Market Prop for Minkota Motors. Now I see Minkota Makes their own, also Called Weed Wedge. So Is the Original After Market Weed Wedge Mfg out of Business?? Is the Minkota Weed Wedge just as Good?

I don't know the answer to that. I only know about the weedless Wedge prop made my minnkota

@CaseyReedFishing Casey, Thanks for the reply. Well, I assume the Engineers at Minkota , examined the Geometry of " Weed Wedge, aftermarket", and Produced their own , effective version. Get out on the Water, and De Stress , and Rip some Lips this year. Keep your Powder Dry, Never give up your Guns, Rods, or PROP, LOL.

The weedless wedge prop will work on the AutoPilot 120. Not the 120 MK.

@@austin5618 sorry for the confusion. I keep forgetting the only made the Sportsman MK in the 106 and not the 120.🤦‍♂️ Its just another version of the minnkota motor. Forget what I originally said. The weedless wedge will work in the 120 AutoPilot. 😁

They make a prop that will fit it. I don't think it's the same one I listed though.

This motor doesn't have a "reverse". The whole motor just turns. But it does help. I also will turn the motor on and off in bursts. Helps clear weeds.
