Sorry but there was a curfew. You NEED TO honor the curfew. If people honored the curfew this wouldn't happen. I have experienced National Guard being sent out to enforce curfew due to a handful of hurricanes. They really haven't used force with anyone. The people they did use force with was up to no good. If you follow the rules National Guard people are awesome. National Guard protected my college campus for 3 months after hurricane Wilma hit our campus. It took the campus 3 months to get their lighting fixed. The campus borrowed portable stadium lighting from the Miami Dolphins to light up the parking lots. The National Guard was at all entrances making sure no one got on campus that didn't belong there. *Edit I should say states didnt declare Martial Law. Majority of citizens willingly abided the curfew so they didnt need Martial Law.

I can appreciate what you're usually doing out here, trying to keep the peace in these cities. But these are different times, my man. The Guard is there because buildings are being burned down, people are being grievously injured. They're there to try to bring order to the streets again. At this point in the game, peacefully protesting AFTER curfew is seen as an act of aggression. Hopefully none of us agree with the damage that is being caused within our communities by these riots, so let's do the right thing and keep our peaceful protests outside curfew hours. Nobody is gonna give a damn about us getting shot after curfew. They're just gonna say, and probably rightfully so, that we knew it was after curfew and knew what we were getting ourselves into. It's a high risk act with no reward. We wouldn't sway any minds trying to protest after hours because everybody who needs to hear the good word is already back at the house. Stay safe.

Have you even tried to discuss about it with the national guard. Might sound dumb but worth a try don't ya think? However, like others said already in the comments when the Guard is called in that's when you know it's bad. But just like how you said with the police, the Guard are human beings too right? So why the differentiation? The Guard is under state or federal jurisdiction, so they have a lot more pressure on them to carry out the orders given not to mention even more responsibility. They’re using rubber bullets, they’re not classed as non-lethal they’re classed as less lethal. Because they can still possibly kill you, if you get hit in the head/face. That girl in the car was fine thankfully because the glass slowed down the rubber bullet a significant amount. I feel bad for everyone out there in mini. When the governor calls out the national guard the troops are given orders ... it doesn’t matter if you don’t know the orders. They are going to follow those orders until other orders are given. You want to protest and burn people’s businesses and loot... this is what you get. After curfew everyone out on the street is breaking the law and is subject to getting shot or detained by the national guard. The NG troops are not supposed to have a civil conversation with people breaking the curfew, the NG troops are there to make you follow the curfew. It’s too late now. No cops = NG troops and you will get hurt if you try to get close to them. Sorry but this is the start of martial law and we will lose so many/all rights and it will be the fault of those that choose to riot, loot, and burn and tear down statues

Do some research. One of the terms of the curfew is the people should obey the commands of the National guard and police who are enforcing the curfew. The video clearly depicts the people being directed to go indoors. These people disobeyed and were fired upon with paint canisters. yer welcome

It's the National guard, they have the resources to setup road blocks if they're scared of people using their cars to ram them. This was unnecessary. Also those rubber shots have a steel core. They CAN kill. I grew up between Boston and NY, where that girl died from it after the World Series parade. The rounds are designed to be shot at the ground and ricochet towards the target (dissipate the force). They are not meant to be shot directly at people like you've seen in a lot of these videos.

i agree with MOST of what the man at 3:25 is saying! Except (whether accidentally or on purpose) him stating the part about what the couples nationality and what she was wearing. Because in this particular situation it was undoubtedly irrelevant and only serves to make an already difficult situation even worse. other then that i at least understand his frustration. And in a perfect world, where there was time to prepare, there most definitely should be some sort of signage or pre-checkpoint warnings because not everyone may have been adequately informed, or even understood that a curfew was in effect. HOWEVER, at the same time you got to understand that there is an entire city that has to be controlled by what equates to a handful of soldiers by comparison! And of course I’m assuming everything has gone to shit pretty quickly if the national guard needed to be called. So i doubt there was any time to even get signage prepared let alone issued to check points & other personnel. I mean you would think that the green camp M16 and military vehicles would be enough warning for most citizens to take notice and pay attention to what’s being said but that’s unfortunately not always the case. And again if it’s bad enough that the national guard has been called then you should count yourselves lucky you live in america because that’s the one and only reason that they were firing less then lethal projectiles and not FMJ! Please try to understand that for their own safety, those soldiers are rightfully going to assume, that anyone not listening to &/or obeying their commands is hostile. They simply do not have the luxury of making sure each and every person approaching their location speaks english or whether or not each person has been properly informed. At the end of the day that soldier just wants to do his/her job and make it back home to their family alive just like anyone else. You can trust the fact that they don’t want to be there any more then you want them there but something has obviously gone seriously sideways, or they wouldn’t be there. All they know is they have orders to stop any & all vehicles from going through that area, intersection or whatever they were tasked to do and that’s what they will do period. And as far as that cab incident goes, well i am going to say it’s cab company or driver who deserves the blame for that, because you can bet that they were damn well informed about the curfew and still chose to ignore it, therefore putting their customers in a potentially hazardous situation so shame on them!
