It’s good to see someone interested in obscure machinery, even though they are only mowers, they are all history you can touch. 👍🇺🇸

In this video, Denny Hinck said that Wheel Horse tractors were made in West Bend Indiana. Actually they were made In South Bend Indiana and were called Ponds tractors in the very beginning. They were the brainchild and product of a man named Cecile Pond. He built them in a building not much bigger than a garage and as a boy scout living in that neighborhood, He allowed us to collect all the cardboard from incoming engines etc for recycle as funds for scout camping trips Always loved this small tractor and brings back many great memories. Thanks, Gene...............

I own an 1980 john deere 317 garden tractor, and my dad is dealer of new riding lawnmowers and tractors, but everytime i work on those new mowers they all seem to be built very light weight compared to my heavy 317.

I found an old lawn tractor that someone stole and dumped in a pond probably for 25+ years. I powerhosed the whole engine off and took it apart down to the block and re-lubricated and cleaned it all up. Ran perfectly. I left the wiring and electrical cords dry out in the sun for 3 days and they were not affected either. The only difficult part was re-seating the tires and they were stubborn because the rubber was so waterlogged. I had a shop do it for me. One rim had rusted through on the arch and I had to have a welder fix that but other than that, good as new. It was a Craftsman - common model from the early 90s. The whole serial plate looked like Freddy Kruger ripped it apart - it was so mangled.

This is my life goal. If my garage doesn’t look like this I’ve failed in life. I don’t know why, I’m sure he doesn’t either, why I love these old tractors. These tractors are far far beyond my time being only 30. This video brought a tear to my eye. It’s not about the money. It’s just a passion.

Be a good man and you have achieved more than most! I understand the feelings with tractors, you can't explain it. They are engineering marvels! (I tell people when you are in a garage or backyard working on a little piece of what most considers junk, nobody is arguing, fighting or having an ugly moment with another human. Just enjoying a little piece of heaven. Just got a jd 455 a few days ago(awesome machine)

Now this is a video I can love. I loved this one and your video of Tom Renner's collection (especially his non-tractor antique equipment). They sure don't build lawnmowers like they used to. I had a chance back about 20-25 years ago to buy an International riding mower, and also a vintage zero-turn mower (I think it was called Ranch King or Farm King), but I did not realize the opportunity I had and so I passed them by. They were cheap too at that time, and not part of a collection, but just for mowing. Both were in good condition.

Worked for a guy back in the early 70's who sold Allis Chalmers garden tractors. Part of my job was mowing his grass, so I got to use a different tractor about every week. Most of them were only 10 or 12 horsepower back in those days. Allis made a small tractor that was only 6 or 7 h.p. which was kind of cool. They also had one called a Scamp, with a fiberglass body, not made like a tractor, but like strictly a riding mower. It was only about 7 horsepower with a 32 or 36 inch cut, but those things did a great job mowing.

I have a B10 Allis Chalmers. The 2nd model the ever made. I also have an early 1978 316 John Deere with the single cylinder 16hp Kohler. The only year they made them. And there was 2 types the early one didn't have a universal joint in the drive shaft. They had 2 plastic flex-plates like the 300 the later ones had a universal joint like the 317. I also have an all origanal 317 John Deere with the series 1 Kt17 not modified with the upgraded oil pump and still runs super. Very rare because if you mow on a slant they threw a rod. I also have a running 877 Wheel Horse no deck though. The 8 is the hp the 1st 7 stands for hydrostatic transmission and the last number is the year in the 60's. Also have parts (wish it was complete) Wheel Horse 500 Special. This was 1 of 500 built in 1965 the year they were the official Garden tractor of the Indianapolis 500. I have the hood and frame with the Indianapolis motor speedway decals on it. And also have a 1979 Simplicity 5116 broadmower III WITH A 54" deck

As I was saying, Sterling Price Stephenson, my grandfather, from Bingham Lake, MN was born in 1899. I miss him a lot even though he was a gruff old duffer. When I think about it my father's father, Toby Allen was also born in 1899 and he was from Comfrey, MN. Fortunately I was adopted, along with my twin sister to the Allen family in the early to mid 60's, I was very lucky. Richard Allen taught me to farm, laugh, work etc. I miss them dearly.
