I wonder if the "tension" has more to do with the control KOC wants over personnel, which will effectively squeeze Kwesi out. While Kwesi gets some credit for FA signings, almost every one of his draft picks, JJ is KOC's pick, has been either a bust or he's traded too much for, I.E. Dallas Turner. Addison was a no-brainer, but KOC had to basically force Kwesi into pulling the trigger on him.

Note I don’t want this to happen, but after watching this I had this come across my mind. KOC tanked the last two games to bring down darnolds salary. Brady being a part owner of the Raiders and going with rumors of KOC wanting to bring Brady in as an offensive developer with the team. So it would not shock me if the Raiders trade for KOC and sign Darnold for a cheaper contract and both KOC and Brady develop Darnold further. While the Vikings hire either Ben Johnson, Brian Flores as head coach as his replacement.

KOC hasn’t earned that kind of power yet. If he really told his guys to put that rumor out, at that time, that shows unprofessionalism, selfishness, and an inflated ego frankly. All he’s proven over 3 years is that he’s a regular season coach who chokes when it matters most. Totally agree with Judd, on the 4-5 year contract extension for KO and Kwesi. Their plan is clear by selecting their rookie QB, having had a few years of draft picks and FA signings. It makes sense to lock up Kwesi and KO to see through the plan through that time frame based on the ages of the roster core they have built/solidified and over the extent of the rookie scale QB contract. Especially the winning % thus far.

If trends are to be believed, the Vikings will win maybe six to eight games next year, Justin Jefferson will demand a trade, Aaron Jones will retire, Darnold will leave via free agency (probably to the Giants or Raiders), JJ McCarthy will blow out another knee ligament getting out of bed, we will take no offensive linemen in the upcoming draft, we will miss the boat on free agent offensive linemen yet again, and KOC will get a one year contract extension, including the infamous 'vote of confidence' from the Wilf's.

The 2022 draft was a disaster Kwesi desever blame. However, Vikings fans gotta stop giving KOC a pass and blaming everything on Kwesi. This is the 2nd time the regular season went amazing KOC was the mastermind and the team short circuits in the postseason. Then Vikings fans turn the blame. KOC never adjusted to the Lions blitz, The Rams did the same thing and he still didn't change. OL has been a problem but where was the counter punch. Both Kwesi and KOC gotta take the blame and need to do better. KOC is starting to get the Kirk Cousins defender treatment from fans.

Kwesi was relying on the previous administration's draft board and scouting information. He didn't have a full year to put his stats together and am sure he had to work with people in place that weren't necessarily his choices. Imho koc had more to work with year one 🤷🏽‍♂️ Kwesi also had to contend with the salary cap of the previous administration. In two years he's turned the salary cap around!
