You people are just so sad and beyond help, it's pathetic...even clearly watching a video of whites and blacks interacting happily with each other in that so-called racist filled time, you still want to talk about how racist it was

Yeah. Same when she sings, so sincere, diction so good, phrasing--wow if you have not heard, check out "if I ever lose this heaven" with her poor little arm not moving, how unreal her performance is. I heard by the way, that it was her husband who got to her first and the trainer was at the back of the room. I now it sounds thin--but that is what love is, while the trainer put down his coffee, her husband was there right now. Sweet, sweet woman.

Thank you Ray and the same to you also as well as a happy New Year. Did you know that, had she been spared, Minnie would have been 70 years old in 2017? How wonderful it would have been to hear her beautiful voice throughout all the years but it was not to be. I can still clearly remember the day that I heard that she had passed away and although I was only 11 years old at the time it made a big impression on me. Here in the UK I don't think it was very widely known that she was even ill. Since then I have enjoyed discovering Minnie's music and now that we have the internet we can see these interviews and learn a little of the type of person that she was. Even her speaking voice is beautiful as well.

You are right I think "Inside My Love" is gorgeous. More people should know it. In addition "Les Fleurs" is absolutely joyous and "Memory Lane" is heart breaking, especially when one knows the circumstances in which it was written and recorded. Such emotion, how can anyone not be moved by it? No doubt about it, Minnie was (and is) a Perfect Angel.

Minnie is the type of person that does not compete with others. she was just a force of her own. There is no need to compare anyone. There is room for all. It's the American dream. I sang this at the former Clark AFB in the Philippines for the try outs for the Air Force former Tops & Blue performers. Of course I am noooooo Minnie Riperton ...but she had just passed away...and I thought what a fitting song to sing in tribute to her....the crowd was silent and gave a standing O at the end of my meger performance...that was in 1979...about a week after her passing....I know not for me for in memory of Minnie ...sleep on in peace you beautiful soul

A live version of loving you, is on here. She puts Maya's name in near the end. But she looks like its completely effertless to just put that whistletone in the song. And in that version she does it more than the record. I'm nearly 60 and remember so well. In my lifetime I have never seen or heard anyone compare to the ease which she does this. But her singing, voice, overall was fantastic. A shame she passed so young. And her daughter didn't get to show her own talent to her mom.

Every woman raves about Beyonce and Rhianna, etc. Their generation has no real conception of the classy, refined, much more likeable in my opinion and of course natural singers that came before them. Maybe this is why I have become so sentimental for the 70s, because today just seems so much more artificial. Listen to this talk show conversation! So much more natural sounding, unedited, back and forth. Just like the old Johnny Carson's. Talk shows today are unwatchable. Every guest is scripted and comes off as a bore!
