MinnKota powered Lifetime Yukon 116. "How I did that"

Several viewers have have how I did this or how I did that. Sometimes easier to show than explain in the comments. So here is the "how I did that" and some changes made from the issue I ran into.

That looks just like I did with a canoe way back when. Two cables but with a simple tiller I could move when I changed seats. Using the top half of the motor looks really cool. Those cables like to rust.

No rust. stainless break cable and shot with grease gun and blown through with air.

Thanks for the info bud. I know you don't get some killer view count on stuff like this but it's tremendously helpful to guys like me. My wife got me a trolling motor for my kayak which is the same model as yours. I don't have a lathe and all that to do what you did but it did give me some ideas for my situation. Thanks! You did a hell of a job on that 😂. I'll have to side mount mine but still, this info was helpful!

FYI most modern mountain bike fork stem are 1.125”. That can give you option of spacers and handle bar mounts to repurpose.

Sorry to here that here in Ohio you just check with motor and it’s more expensive. Like $33 for three years. Same as a boat. As far as the warranty, that’s okay too. I am three yaks deep and this is the river rat now.

I just bolted a plastic milk crate on the back of mine, and use that for my transom.

​​@@off-roadeverything5946 I put the biggest washers I could find, bottom and top, then I have two studs sticking up so I can ad the crate with just washers and wing nuts for easy removal for transport. It's a sit inside Lifetime kayak from Tractor supply

I have watched many utube videos on mounting trolling motor on kayaks. I have a Lifetime 11.6 and want to mount a trolling on. I contacted PA. Fish and boat to see about registering my kayak since I am putting trolling motor on it. I was informed that I need a formal from Lifetime in order to get it registered. In talking to Lifetime you install a trolling motor on there kayaks it voids the warranty.

How do you keep the trolling motor control unit shaft in place? Is it detachable?

There is a place for a rail on the lifetime. And it is detachable

This was my first build so it does not have this feature. I fish mostly lakes from a boat ramp. This was my first build and ideas I had in my head. Didn’t do much research on it. Now I see all kinds of methods doing this. I only use this as an extra yak now and I tend to weeds and other items for my guest from my yak.
