I've been making traps like these for many years to catch baiters for perch fishing in the UK. Mine had several holes melted into them, a weight attached, and a short length of twine to swing it into the shallows further out.

Where we live we got a canal we got million of carp and trout there but they never bite so I would always on just a boring day just fish for a frickin minnows if you wanna fish use a tiny bobber and a 14 hook but now I can fish and use this trap thanks a lot man it is a cool thing to use and is very fun 10/10 man

Man I needed this. A dozen of these guys cost $5 in south Flo and I just found a great way to save.

very good idea I cant tell you how many times I have been fishing and used up all the bait and walked the shoreline with a net catching bait fish to get just a couple more hours of fishing in.
@joesphx1911 жыл бұрын
Excellent! I live in Florida and will be using this method to obtain live bait for chain pickeral fishing.
@Mikey856710 жыл бұрын
Nice idea, you can also use a 2 Ltr bottle the same way. use some thumb tacks to hold the funnel top in place (you can easily remove them to collect the fish). Also weight it down or like others say tie a string to it and place a stake on the shore with it tied to it (allows easy retrieval of the minnow trap).

I learned this from a French boy at a campsite- we put breadcrust into an old wine bottle, and caught plenty of minnows- we released them afterwards, it was just fun to catch them [we were kids, and in those days, kids did things like catch minnows- now it is all internet games!

Yup :D i covered them with sauce though. we did the fishing. with the bottle techniquie. but the bottles was big ones. those two liter ones. and we heated a piece from a clothes hanger then poked holes at the bottom. we did that because we caught a bunch under a little waterfall.

Well, the minnows you caught must have been bigger than ours! ours were tiny, and not worth eating. Very fresh fish do taste lovely though. Anything smaller than a sardine isn't usually worth the effort- but depends on how hungry you are :)
