I really dig that baggie method. Next level problem solving by curing the resin that's in the baggie and pouring the leftover IPA into the bottle. Thanks for the tip!

using those water filter(the dining table ones) you can filter ipa and clean the resin from it, works well

Is alcohol on inside and outside of of baggie? can i use water on outside and alcohol on inside?
@geek-happens
@geek-happens 2 жыл бұрын
It is water on the outside, then whatever you want to use as a cleaner in the baggie (alcohol, ethanol, resinaway), just so I don't have to clean out the cleaner between uses, but you could just fill it with whatever cleaner and not use baggies if you wanted.

Make sure you don't order the one with a heater if you are using alcohol.

@@BigMikeMora Thank you, a very good point, you don't want to use heat with alcohol, the model I used has a heater, but you can run it with the heater off.

Do you still need to cure the printed items in the uv light after you have done this process? Or does this allow to skip that method by doing this instead? Because I’ve been trying to print some items to be able to cast for jewelry but it has been giving me issues.

Yes, you still need to do a post cure, this is simply to help clean off the excess resin before doing the post cure. You don't need an ultrasonic cleaner, you could just swish the print in 99% alcohol or resin away, or submerge the print in a container of the alcohol or resin away while using a brush to remove any excess resin before then fully curing your print.

5:59 Was that sludge in the baggy just from cleaning one mini? Or how many times had you used it?
@geek-happens
@geek-happens 2 жыл бұрын
Several times, probably about 30 or so prints worth. I do that when the alcohol stops evaporating well off of the prints and doesn't clean as well as I would like. The sludge is the uncured resin. I used to try to cure out the resin from the alcohol a maximum of 3 times before it wasn't really effective. I only do it once now.

@@geek-happens Ah, okay. Thank you very much for sharing your experience with this. That makes sense about how to judge when the alcohol stops being effective (via it not evaporating well). I appreciate your reply.

Is IPA being flammable not an issue?
@geek-happens
@geek-happens Жыл бұрын
It hasn't been, but as an added precaution I never use the heating function, just in case.

@@geek-happens i know this is an old comment but i would just like to say you really shouldn't be using IPA directly in a ultra sonic cleaner as it can cause possible cavitation which can cause the ipa to light on fire spontaneously.

hey I just started doing this as well just to confirm do u just leave the heater setting off and it wont heat obviously I don't want the thing to heat up if i got alcohol in the bags in the tank.
@geek-happens
@geek-happens 2 жыл бұрын
Correct, I just run it with the heater off and don't seal the baggie while it's running

Nice!!! but unfortunately the bags are bursting within the supersonic bath. What kind of bags are you using? PP or PE?
@geek-happens
@geek-happens 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what type, I've used several kinds, usually whatever is cheapest, but I don't seal the bags when running them in the cleaner, I leave them open and just draped over the side so it doesn't fall in. I only seal them between uses to minimize evaporation overnight. I also don't use the heat setting as I typically will use alcohol or ethanol.
