Excellent! Thank you so much. This is very helpful. Especially, I wasn't aware of the Autumn Leaves Ending.

I’m learning the 1937 solo currently along with a couple of other Django songs and love playing over this track trying to get my lines sounding fluid. Love the guitar.. they are way to expensive for me but how do they play? Are they comfortable and good to use or are they hard? I’ve heard the action is higher on them?

Hi Paul, I actually sold that guitar this year due to playing electric live these days. It played like an electric guitar, super easy to play. Those gypsy style guitars can be very different to other acoustics in terms of playability. I don't think some are built with high action in mind, that would just be a set up preference by the individual.

@@jazzguitarwithandy that’s really interesting thanks! Love the fact they are good to play. Who knows one day might be able to get one! I use electric guitars too for now

Another great song and lesson Andy, The issue of 3 note versus 4 note chords? What is the thought process if any on this choice or is it a personal thing? I do like the simplicity of the 3 note chords. Thanks!

Thank you Bill. Well in gypsy jazz it's very common to use these 3 note shapes. In the case of the Am6 and Dm6 we miss out the 5th and the 5th really doesn't do too much. The 3rd defines whether a chord is major or minor and then the 6th just adds the character. I don't think you miss it that much. These 3 note shapes have a kind of growl/or bark to them on a gypsy jazz style guitar. Hard to describe, but hopefully you know what I mean!

Thanks Andy, makes sense, also I think that comment about the “bark or growl” is a good one that does capture the character of these 3 note chords! 😊

No worries. It's actually George Harrison. Do like a bit of Creedence Clearwater though!
