Dear Sandra, thank you very much for this easy tune that sounds so good!! Really learned so much from your tuition, even though that I am over sixty now. But you explain so well that it encouraged me to develop skills I never thought possible after just playing the same stuff for years on end. You gave me so much inspiration and joy with my playing that I pick up my guitar every day for many hours.

Thank you so much for this lesson! You are an incredibly good teacher. You make it so easy to understand. I'm actually a bass player and stumbled on to your Minor Swing tutorial by accident. But your teaching style and presentation is so inspiring that I ended up pulling out my guitar and learning the comping to Minor Swing. After Minor Swing I moved on to All of Me. I have learned more about rhythm guitar comping in just the last three weeks than in the last 30 years. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you,

Hi guitarversum thanks to you I now have a repertoire of songs I can play solo. What's your approach to practicing jazz? Should spent alot of time with scale and arpeggios, or just learn jazz songs. I'm starting jazz guitar at 50 years old.

No, that's bc with the 5th in bass (low E string) the same gypsy voicing can be many different chord types. Like Am6 = D7/A

Glad I found this Sandra! I just got me an inexpensive entry level Paris Swing CG39 Gypsy guitar. I got it used and the action is too low. May I ask you what action is good for Gypsy jazz? I was thinking leaning toward high action 2.5mm to enhance tone? Would like to know your thoughts on this. I of course purchased this tune from your site. Cheers!
@GuitarversumSandraSherman3 жыл бұрын
Don't take my reference, lol. I like my string action super low. I accept the string buzz. Stichelo once told a friend of mine, who played with him, that he does the same. Super low action, but string buzz. It's really up to what you prefer.
@jazzguitarneophyte-christo79883 жыл бұрын
@@GuitarversumSandraSherman I love the Flamenco type buzz! Just took my guitar to the luthier as I cannot stand 3mm action is too high for my taste so 2mm feels great and what normally acoustic guitars are and I told him I could compromise at 2.5mm but he will try to get it at 2mm. I don't mind buzz with this type of music but I do have some dead notes on the 52nd and 1st string 13 and 14th fret that I want him to address since with Gypsy, those high notes are fun to hit! I am enjoying your lesson. My first Gypsy training song in all reality! Cheers! :)

Hi, Sandra! Very good job, thanks' a lot. Sometime I confused Minor Swing with Bei mir biste scheen'...what about on You-Tube. it's should be very simple for you from Austria! ; )
@GuitarversumSandraSherman6 жыл бұрын
Indeed I performed "Bei mir bist du schön" many times. Btw, that sentence makes no real sense in German, bc it should be "Für mich bist du schön", which means "You are beautiful to me".
