thankyou. this is very very well explained. ive watched a fe of your videos and think you teach it brilliantly, you have earned my youtube subscription and my attention!!! great lesson Sven, I got a little confused at the chord at 1.15, the rest was crystal clear though :)
@lkb3rd8 жыл бұрын
It is just a different way to play the same chord by shuffling the notes around. The b "half diminished" also called "minor7 flat 5" chord has the same notes as the d minor6 chord. So it gives you a different choice for variety and/or a different sound for your d minor6 chord. Hope I didn't step on your toes Sven, this is a good lesson with some cool ideas.
@bobgeorges8 жыл бұрын
Nice! I don't know have you noticed, but in some ends of the forms instead a Bb7 is also an F7. Try that
@SvenJungbeck8 жыл бұрын
of course, I know! but the original Django Version is with Bb. For a lot of beginners it's also irritating, giving to much variations. greetz Sven
@bobgeorges8 жыл бұрын
I'm using it alternatively. :) Anyway, just for the record, I still think that this video is the best offer here about Minor Swing chord progression. Thank you for the feedback! :)
@SvenJungbeck8 жыл бұрын
yes, me too. there are a lot of possibilities to increase the harmonies. actually you could you could use any possible turnaround in minor like: Am / F7 E7 Am C6 / Bm7b5 E7 Am F7 / Bb7 E7 Am G / F7 E7 and in measure 9 you could play Dm /G7/ C6/ F6 / Bm7b5 /E7/ and turnaround. and of course you can play A7 or C#dim before Am moves to Dm Am / Am C#dim / Dm anyway. this is for beginners. if you know how to play in a session. then you don't need videos like these ;) and if you don't know the style, it's better to stick to the original recording first. I mean I can of course play whatever variation in that style. but it would be far to much for one vid ;)

Wow! That's what I'm talking about. Thank you, Sven!

@SvenJungbeck8 жыл бұрын
of course! that's what I did the first 2 years. the sound is always 90 per cent you as long as the guitar is actually working properly.
@ghouser1004 жыл бұрын
Hi Sven I've noticed that you use an acoustic archtop in some your gypsy jazz tutorials. I own a Epiphone Mastebilt Deluxe acoustic/electric archtop. With proper gypsy jazz techniques, can I achieve a gypsy jazz sound from the aforementioned guitar?
@SvenJungbeck4 жыл бұрын
Well, some gypsy jazz guitarist use a "stimer" with a tube Amp to imitate the sound of late Django, that is possible with your guitar. Use a tube Amp and no reverb. Set the gain high enough to receive the "sweet spot" where the guitar starts to distort very gently. For an acoustic session the string action will be to low and notes won't sound right I think! All the best, Sven
