I’ve been leaning toward the Gibson L 00 over many other great 00s, but now totally convinced that the Gibson is for me. I’m going to go buy mine , can’t wait to get it! It took me 39 years to find a Martin that I like. Now I'm obsessed! Looove the 00-28, but I have to say that your demo of the Gibson is the best I've ever heard. In every other demo it sounds boxy (including when I played one myself)! So, I'm thinking that you could make an oil can with a stick and strings sound great! Then you started on the jazzy stuff and my soul started yelling: "find this man!". Which I can't do but: congratulations on some fabulous playing and a great demo! Next time throw in the oil can and everyone will want one!!! 😂🤣🙏🙏🙏

I usually prefer the sound of Martin guitars over Gibsons, even though I love both brands. However in this case I preferred the L-00.

@@roberteccles3896 : They sure can be. At the moment I have 3 completely different style Martins and a 12 or 13 year old Gibson J-45. The J-45 needed time to be what it is now. But now it is simply unbeatable. If someone would put a gun on my head and told me he will take all my guitars, but (I know it’s a highly unlikely scenario 😅) because he has a heart somewhere, I can keep one guitar. I would have the hardest time to choose between my 000-18 and my J-45. Taking every aspect into consideration, giving every aspect of both guitars points between 0 and 10, the 000-18 would score a lot of nines and tens, but also a six on one of those aspects. The J-45 would score a nine on EVERY aspect. 😬

I got a gibson j-45 for Christmas. I must've been a pretty good boy. It compliments my martin d-35 and hd-28 wonderfully. Great video.

Hi Jimmy, of those three guitars would you say that one of them is easier to play, in terms of holding a barre chord for an extended period of time. Do you have a favorite of the 3?

@@ConChristoIIIV I would say after playing the j-45 over a period of time I'm playing the j-45 more often. It has a shorter scale length so there's less tintion on the strings. The action was perfect for me. No set up required. I think that would help on your extended bars.

You can never have too many guitars! This Martin 00-28 is fantastic! I was going to get the L-00 Gibby, but now that will take a back seat to the Martin - even though the Gibson is a great instrument. I hope to find a store where I can A/B them side-by-side. The Gibson has more separation between notes. In any case, your playing brings out the best in both guitars!

Excellent playing. Super demo. I'm a long time Martin D-35 owner and briefly had a Gibson, J-45. After hearing your demo, I was very impressed with your Gibson L-00. Nice warm sound. Didn't quite cut through like the Martin does, but still a very nice sounding guitar. I'm considering a Martin 00-28 or 000-28 and now you have me looking at these Gibsons. Thanks for sharing.

I'm a Martin gal....but ......I'd love to have both these guitars. I think this Gibson L-00 (yours) is the absolute premo ! Bottom line .....you really need to try a guitar out in person if possible. Wood is wood and they all differ. I tried numerous Martin CEO-7's before ending up with the one I have,.... bought used , some play wear , however, sounds awesome ! I honestly don't care about play wear on a used guitar as long as it's not totally trashed. It's gotta sound great. On the hunt for one or both of these . Thanks again for posting. love the 00 but hate the gibson's onboard electronics. gibson wanted to charge me extra and run it throught the custom shop just to leave the electronics out and not drill a strap pin in the neck...this indicates an assembly line way of doing things...going through custom shop just to leave things off. congradulations----always cool to get a new guitar...

Great video. I own three Martins so I am biased in their favor. Despite my bias, the Gibson 'hog' beat out the Martin rosewood. My ears surprised me. Bravo to Gibson's home run. Both guitars sound killer now, but time will improve them even more.

They both sound beautiful, but the Martin sounds like it has more overtones and body resonance, whereas the Gibson seems to have more clarity. I really need to try these out in person.

Martin has some kind of filter put on it, it sounds Very sweet, you can love the sound or hate it cos it's too sweet sounding.. Gibson sounds clear and folkish.

Different guitars I play the Martin much more and I have a Blueridge BR-341 which is Mahogany which I also play more than the Gibson.

On this video - I much prefer the Gibson compared to the Martin. The Gibson has more volume and better note definition. The Martin has more overtones (because of the rosewood back and sides I expect). I would expect the Martin 0018 to sound closer to the Gibson - as the 0018 has mahogany back and sides - just like the Gibson.

I think your Martin 00-28 is like a Gibson LG2 both on exact size and tonal quality. They are both X braced. I like the Sunburst finish and head stock design of Gibson's better. I had a Martin D-35 with rosewood back and sides. A very fine guitar. But I think my Gibson LG2 is the best guitar I have ever owned.That and my National Duolian. My National steel body Duolian was renecked and it's neck is Mahogany with an ebony fret board and mother of pearl dots. It has a slot head tuner with engraved Waverly tuning keys. The head is wood stamped National Duolian.
