Application can be with a dropper for the solution form or with the fingers if it is the foam form. Yes there is variation in effectivity. Oral>Solution>Foam.

I forgot to mention that I an very grateful for the evidence based explanation you provided, it is very helpfull. Unfortunately I already bought 5%, should I dilute it (add 50ml of inactive liquid to 50ml minoxidil 5% to make it 2.5%?) what can be safety added to do this? Would olive oil work? Thank you.

It will lose efficacy. Get it exchanged or if you are a lady, can give to a colleague or friend. Most people need 5% minoxidil.

Sir as you told about the miraculous effects of oral minoxidil...and you also said that aside from the serious cardiac side effects but the side effects of oedema can be controlled by spironolactone and other medications but would you also control the side effects as under eye bags and rashes and how would you have done it?

Dear Dr. Bhatti, I have heard that effects are improved when combining minoxidil with retinol(tretinoin) cream and microneedling. What I understand is that you should put on retinol cream and after about 4 hours apply minoxidil, can you elaborate on this combination?

Finasteride and Dutasteride presently only act by going systemic. Also Dutasteride is not advisable since it is much to stronger as a DHT blocker.

Hey Dr….Been on 1mg 3x weekly since Aug 1… Dht before starting was 46ng/dl…. Did a blood test on September 10… just got results back.. DHT is only 28 ng/dL thats a 37% reduction.. so not that 70% sweet spot … so i was thinking of switching to name brand Fin as im using Keeps generics or do you think its the frequency of 3x weekly thats not dropping it low enough… or do i need to wait longer or something.. The scalp needs to be clean before Minoxidil is applied so it can penetrate the skin. Oil can be applied in the morning and minoxidil at night if you must apply oil. Nowhere else is oil applied to the scalp other than in South and South East Asia!

Thanks for the message and query. What age are you? Have you had hormonal testing done to ascertain the cause of hair loss? In women hair loss is more hormonal than genetic and hence treatable without a hair transplant in significant number of patient.

@@hairtransplantinindia I just recently turned 39 years old. I haven't noticed a hair loss problem like I have heard from people that can see their hair in the shower or comb/brush, it's not my case. I have long hair that reaches my coxis bone so I don't think I am having a significant hair loss as I mentioned before. I have always had thin and little hair compared to other women who have more quantity of hair than me. The not full of hair top of my head is something that I just noticed recently but it is a matter of concern for me. I love voluminous hair/mane, therefore I tend to use rollers in order to make big curles and volume. I cannot tell when the not fully top of my head started. And no, I haven't checked my hormone levels. My mother, aunts and grandmother take levotiroxin to easy their hypothyroidism; I suspect that I may have problems as well since my feet are unbearably cold at night. Since apparently I don't have a hair loss problem per se, I wonder if by taking minoxidil I would be able to grow more hairs per follicle not just one hair but multiple and more follicles available to grow more hair). The Finasteride content in the topical formulation you are using is of no use. Best to use Minoxidil alone since you are already on Oral Finasteride.

It is not likely to cause graying in just 4 days. Yes hair can get rough due to the alcoholic content. Stopping it for some time will make them return to the original shape unless this is due to shedding.

First thing if it is working, you will have intense shedding. After 3-4 months unless you have rapid progression of baldness, you will see your hair thicken. Minoxidil is not a DHT blocker so do not expect it to stop baldness.

Dear Mr. Bhatti My question is not directly related to the video of you. I still hope you will take the time to answer my question. I have been following your channel for a long time and I really appreciate your opinion on hair loss issues. I am planning my 2nd definitive hair transplant this year. This will involve taking hair from my crown of hair, as well as my beard hair. These will be placed on the top of my head and tonsure as usual. During the 1st operation, 2,000 hairs were taken from my hair crown and implanted. With the 2nd surgery, I would like to further fill in the middle and back of my head and thicken the entire area with the beard hairs. Currently I am using the Foligain shampoo and conditioner, as well as finasteride 1mg daily and saw palmetto extract. All products have DHT blocking ingredients. Now for my question and that is; are there any risks of the transplanted beard hairs falling out and not growing back if I use the above products because the beard hairs are no longer "fed" with natural DHT? Thank you for the comment. The effect of Finastreide on beard hair is mostly inhibition of liner growth. They will definitely not fall out. At most they will look like scalp hair.
