⚠️⚠️⚠️ DISCLAIMER SPOILERS AHEAD ⚠️⚠️⚠️ At the 7:15 mark, we mistakenly narrated that he gets "that many treasure tokens as well", but what actually happens is that he gets 4 Squirrel tokens instead of 2. What appears to have been a Mitra Club error there, where he puts 3 squirrels, was actually a shortcut on Leite's part, where he Put 4 Squirrel tokens on the field, but right away taps his Nurturing Peatland to sacrifice 1 of the 4, to start killing the board. This is how he gets the treasures that appear right after. It was actually misunderstood by us when we were narrating the video. In the end he is left with 2 Treasures because of the first Squirrel he sacrifices to the first activation, and the second from the death of Toski. Both come from Pitiless Plunderer. He should have ended with more squirrel tokens however. Hopefully nothing affected the outcome of the game :) EDIT: Added mistake found. There is an old rulling in Necromancy, and the card could actually be cast with Flash even in a Main Phase, you just had to announce that you were casting it with Flash, hence the second rulling on its oracle page. HOWEVER, it's oracle text was ALSO changed (changing the card functionally), and in fact that wouldn't be possible anymore, as it now reads "If you cast it any time a sorcery couldn’t have been cast". EDIT 2: Thanks to @Grace Fowler for this one Baal could still have pulled this Necromancy play with flash, he would only need to tap his City of Brass during his mainphase, for its "Whenever becomes tapped" trigger to fire, and cast Necromancy in response to it, having flash this way.

Chatterhorn + Pitiless Plunderer + 2 or more Squirrel tokens is a combo for infinite Treasure tokens, isn't it? Pay {B} and sacrifice 2 Squirrels to give something +2/-2, then Pitiless Plundered triggers twice, replacing your two Squirrel Tokens and giving you 2 Treasures. Each loop of this costs 1 Treasure for the mana but gives you back 2 Treasures. You can do it even faster if you sacrifice more Squirrels at once, although there's not much point. When you run out of creatures to kill, you can just target one of your Squirrel tokens; you get the same effect if you sacrifice 2 tokens for the cast as if you sacrifice only one and kill a second one with the effect. If you get some way to cast Chatterfang at instant speed, you can sacrifice Chatterfang to its own ability and then recast it from the command zone using this infinite mana to add infinite squirrel tokens to this loop. Doing it at sorcery speed doesn't work, since you need to get Chatterfang back on the battlefield before Pitiless Plunderer's trigger resolves in order to get the Squirrel token replacement effect to apply. There are plenty of better third cards to add to an existing infinite mana/sacrifice combo to win the game, but I figure it's worth mentioning in case a flash enabler (such as Emergence Zone, Vedalken Orrery, or Vivien Champion of the Wilds) ever gets in range of consideration for this deck. Edit: Apparently, Aluren is already in the deck list, so there's a flash enabler already.

Couldn't Baal's Necromancy play still have been possible even with the newer ruling by using City of Brass instead of a swamp and reacting to its trigger with Necromancy? It then would have been cast at a time a sorcery couldn't have been cast.

at 9:22 how does Baal cast Necromancy with flash with carpet mana? wouldn't that be a main phase sorcery speed Necromancy? effectively shutting off its own "sacrifice it at the beginning of the next cleanup step" effect? am I missing something here? thanks 😊

HOWEVER, it's oracle text was ALSO changed (changing the card functionally), and in fact that wouldn't be possible anymore, as it now reads "If you cast it any time a sorcery couldn’t have been cast". In this case the last play was indeed not possible, as Baal had only 5 lands in play, and couldn't have had 6 mana total to cast Necromancy twice in a Non-Mainphase-step.

If Necromancy is cast during a cleanup step, shouldn't the sac trigger go off only at the beginning of the next turn's end step? This means Rodrigo should've gotten his turn before Necromancy was sacrificed. "514.3. Normally, no player receives priority during the cleanup step, so no spells can be cast and no abilities can be activated. However, this rule is subject to the following exception: 514.3a At this point, the game checks to see if any state-based actions would be performed and/or any triggered abilities are waiting to be put onto the stack (including those that trigger “at the beginning of the next cleanup step”). If so, those state-based actions are performed, then those triggered abilities are put on the stack, then the active player gets priority. Players may cast spells and activate abilities. Once the stack is empty and all players pass in succession, another cleanup step begins."

Well necromancy triggers directly in the cleanup step, Not end step (first sentence). Necromancy ofiginally said end of turn (different to end step, end of turn ends during cleanup), nowadays the oracle text just says sacrifice next cleanup step. So if you recast it during the cleanup step and afterwards everyone passes priority with empty stack, as per rule 514.3 a new cleanup step begins - which is the next cleanup step triggering necromancy. Which is my non-judge understanding of this.

Couldn’t chatterfang have won game one? You can make infinite mana with two squirrels. Then cast chatterfang and sac it to itself infinite times to make infinite squirrels on death triggers and have infinite treasure and squirrels.
