I get to enjoy a smaller murmeration every night at dusk that I love to watch, but I've never seen one of this magnitude. What I've observed though is that they are gathering up the flock to roost, every night as the light starts to drop they murmerate, and the whole time it gets bigger and bigger as small flocks of starlings join the mass before bed time. All the small groups of local starlings are just a tiny part of one big flock. They say they mumurate to avoid predators such as falcons and hawks, I'm sure that safety in numbers is a colossal factor, but I have never seen a raptor near my local flock, yet they do it every night. My theory is that it's like a big beacon in the sky to help everyone find their way home.

What a Hollowed display of one of God's infinite mysteries. I wonder how the starling is feeling while blissfully wollowing in the midst of the wind. Amazing...just absolutely incredible

This is so beautiful it made me cry. I love the piano music too. Starlings are such intelligent birds. I fed some recently just scraps when I met them at a market. They were so intelligent and so quick, all standing each in their spot spaced out so I could throw them bits in turn to be fair and keep the peace. Then some would even jump up and catch the bits in mid-air they were so quick with rapid-response precision reactions. They had so much character chirping and whistling. I read they come together to British shores for these murmurations from all over Europe and even Central Asia. I know scientists say they do this because of predators but I believe it's far more than that. I feed pigeons in the town where I live and I know they fly and flock together when they are fed when they are happy and content. They all fly together as a flock to show their unity and coordination as a species. I believe when all the starlings gather and flock in these giant murmurations involving 1,000s of birds this is to show their spiritual joy and unity and love for each other collectively as a bird species. It is beautiful and harmonious because the birds are showing us their collective congregation and bird soul. That is a truly awesome ritual these birds have created that is an honour for humans to observe. 🙏✌😊🕊

That's pretty heavy for a bird species. I think you're imputing some human qualities on them. I wouldn't say it's beyond their level to consider it fun. Schools of fish do the same. Otters clearly have a good time when they play. Why not birds?
@emelless5365
@emelless5365 3 жыл бұрын
@@tonykonig2068 I believe they flock and fly like that for protection against predators,for one thing. It's much harder for a falcon to pick out one bird in a moving flock like that..I agree people do tend to put human qualities to animals.I doubt they do it for fun though, birds don't waste their precious energy.Just my opinion.

Beautiful music, excellent filming. Such a good piece of work on this amazing spectacle should be used to highlight the Critically Endangered status of this species and many other species as the climate change problem of upsetting nature's delicate balance is now damaging more and more species. the dance of the starlings is beautiful we know, in fact I could see it in front of my house a few months ago in Lima Peru (I mean, it is not a free field like in the video) but there is a park in front of my house, I guess it was thanks to the quarantine that they came. It was the first time I saw something like that in person so I looked it up on the internet and found this, but what really ended up making this video so great was the music, shazam didn't give me any results and that's when I read that you made this? great job, It's beautiful, not cheesy at all, but if it is it's in a good way. Many people would like to compose something like this, although I think this should have more views, I also think that sometimes it doesn't feel so bad because it is not necessary to have a hit if finally the music gives you peace and ends up pleasing you in a sense that those vanities don't matter.

Thank you very much for your kind words Karen. What fascinates me here is that the murmuration and the music synchronise so well because of the capacity of the brain to naturally synchronize its brainwave frequencies with the rhythm of periodic external stimuli, most commonly auditory, visual, or tactile.

Birds gather in murmurations for a variety of reasons. Grouping together offers safety in numbers as predators like peregrine falcons find it hard to target one bird in amongst a hypnotising flock of thousands. Starlings also gather to keep warm at night and exchange information about good feeding areas. Hence, no need for a any god or angels to explain this behaviour. We better rely on scientific insight to fully understand and enjoy the beauty of the laws of physics and nature.

I think this is a demonstration of strength with the aim of threatening birds of prey, in order to protect their flock in this area. If you look closely, you will see a predator and how collectively they are afraid against it. I wrote about this more than once. And let scientists not bother with this.
