It sure is amazing how you wrench on a TF and haven't a clue that there isn't any metric to be found on the car. Maybe pickup a proper set of sockets and spanners since the whole car has BSF heads. The XPAG is BSF heads with special pitch metric threads. Better than that though was you changing the oil cold, replacing the filter dry and not priming the oil system before attempting to fire. I like to spin bearings dry too... You're working on a car that's been sitting for many years and think all that's needed is to just fill an empty master and bleed the system? Freed them up with WD-40? Rebuilding the wheels cylinders, checking the bores is what you should have done. They absolutely rust and the piston will get hung up. Shade tree at it's finest. I'd applaud the enthusiasm, but you call this a success. I certainly wouldn't.

NOT "mint" condition. Your video demonstrates who should not own an MG TF. .. or any other British car.

As a five time owner of MGTFs I really enjoyed this video. I am so glad that I own a nice MGTF at this moment or this film would have killed me with desire. I also have a second MGTF but it is all apart awaiting restoration. Both my MGs are 1954 1250's as were all of my previous TFs. Thank you for this presentation. Take good care of that MG, she deserves loving care!!

Hey Charles, I appreciate your comment and support. I went by last week and was pleased to hear that the family has kept its service up to date and take it out when the weather is nice. Good luck on your projects!

Hello Kyle, I’m not sure if you checked or not, but those Sidedraft carburettors have an oil reservoir on the top. Some sort of damper. If you unscrew the knerled knob on the top and add a little oil, it should make it start and run a lot better. You don’t need much oil, it’s a very small reservoir.

Derek Downunder I did unscrew one and check it out, I will do that next time I toy with it. We’re talking about the screw that has the rod attached to it with the “carburetor needle?” 10w-30 good or something like ATF?

El Camino Kyle yeah, that’s the right place. There’s probably a specific oil that’s supposed to be used in there, but I just used a little motor oil in mine and had no problems for the 8 years that I had it.

Well, you said you had a project and here it is. WOW! Did good on the oil change. I wonder if I would change the oil again, sort of using this as a "cleanse" and double check the oil weight too. Probably right but won't hurt to check again. Gas tank? If it's going to be driven more I would at least consider cleaning the tank. Glad you're rebuilding the brakes. Wheel bearings? No problems, good. Valve adjustment, definitely replace the rotor and cap and points. Consider some electronic points if available. Car looks great. You did an awesome job, cameraman, so so. Just kidding. Hey who does your laundry, grease on white-t shirt. Instant rag! Keep it up. Palos Verdes, out. 😎

Rocketman yep, the oil that I put in it will he used as a break in oil. As for the gas tank I’ll do the CLR and bag of marbles trick, if that doesn’t work it’ll be recoated. As for the brakes, atleast wheel cylinders all around and I’ll repack the bearings if need be. Definitely looking into the ignition system, electronic is always good.
