I'd like to see you put them back to original you have a tendency to put the harkedup systems on them and inever see the videos of you finishing them up would love to see more videos of complete machines 100% back to running with all the original stuff

I think the same.. channel would be 10 times better if you would do one project at the time..

Harvey just doesn't do start to finish restorations. He enjoys his hoard his way and tries to be helpful to everyone w tips and tricks whenever he can. Personally I do things as you speak of, however that's just not the way of it here. He just loves enjoying his passion and keeping some alive affordably for those who can't to learn to get by, as well. ✌️

Running little rich it looks like when u get those smoke rings out the exhaust usually means too much fuel. But awesome video love ur content
@Iams-0012 жыл бұрын
Hi,great video only problem I have is how did you hook up the fuel line? Directly from gas tank to carb or did you use OEM fuel pump the carb?
@fan17014 жыл бұрын
I like to keep the factory air box that keeps water/mud away from the air cleaner which is hard to do with the clone carb. You should build it the way you want it though. Unless you ride in some really bad mud then I wouldn't run a winch. My winch has her own 4 wheeler so I wouldn't have a winch on the front of mine. 🤣😁

I have a 99 quadrunner 500 4x4 (all time) and I love it, however now the front end seems to be clunking and slipping and finding a replacement has been near impossible. Wish I could find another bike in that condition, amazing shape for the year, great find

if im not mistaken, its still the same shared driveline parts between the 250-300-500. Dont quote me though lol

@@Hammerjockeyrepair Thanks, I'll lcheck it out. I really didn't know that the older an ate got the harder it was to find parts. Seems it should be the other way around lol

Any money says it smokes from the valve seals. I've had 2 Hondas that sat for years started them up and it was like the valve seal rubber welded to the valve stem and just wore an almost a 2 mm gap all the way around. Smoked like a coal fired train until I replaced them.

If you do put the Mikuni back on Please go in depth on the vacuum and hose hookups on it. My AC has pretty much the same engine but all the hoses were missing when I got it and I have absolutely no idea where the hoses connect. I even got the service manual for the machine and it shows squat as far as hose routing etc. which is why I got the PZ30 to put on mine.

Harvey on your 300ex a while ago can you take a video of you putting the exhaust on I’m trying to do the same thing and I can’t seem to fit it in without cutting a chunk out of it

We've got one in the shop thats finished but after throwing everything possible at the carb including parts and moving every adjustment only to return it and try something else, it's good but could be better. Don't let a little smoke bother you, that engine design is from the Quadsport 230 that came out in 1985 and was also used by Arctic Cat in their early machines listed as a 250. The Cats even mounted them in the same place in the chassis so it sucked working on them. Get the air filter, choke and throttle business correct and enjoy riding something complete and not butchered. Great job on the machine and giving me an easy set up line about the cable being a little short, but I'll behave myself on a Sunday.

Why using smaller fuel tank? Is oe tank too low to work without fuel pump?
@aaronpowell48854 жыл бұрын
What a great find Harvey! I completely understand your dislike of mikuni but with that machine being so cherry, I'd really like to see the mikuni given a chance. I also think with a fresh oil change and a few miles/hours that smoking may go away, could be sticky rings or dry valve seals.

@Snw-vi6xd4 жыл бұрын
It might still be braking honestly 40 miles isn't much. Definetly give her a good oil change. And no it's not running rich, running rich is black smoke. That definitely oil smoke. Probably will clear right up with a oil change and some more riding.

i have a question do you think i could use a dc chinese cdi box because i think mine is capout
@christopherschutte5873 жыл бұрын
On the Suzuki quadrunner 2001 it could be the vowels because back in the day carbon build up on the spark plug I had issue I had on my quad runner 250 1995 I was told it was normal for them to do that
@charlesallen54254 жыл бұрын
A quad that small doesn’t really need a winch, since it is a expensive winch you could use it to make a “tow truck” type machine with a boom on the back to move your projects around. As for the carb you should at least rebuild the original and keep it in case you ever did want to restore to 100% original.

Hey need some help my 2005 Polaris trail boss 330 had spark then sat for an hour lost spark I think it’s the CDI box how can I hook up one to test or test it the one that is on it
@Hammerjockeyrepair4 жыл бұрын
no test for cdi boxes, only test is to test the stator as per manual, test the coil and if those test good, your only choice is to test with a "known good" cdi. Polaris machines are notorious for breaking wires on the stator, the pickup coil getting shoved out of spec away from the flywheel. Look up the stator test for that machine

Keep the winch/Mikuni if you plan to flip this machine for the best return on your money. If you are keeping this one, lose the winch and stay with the pz carb and enjoy a nice simple setup.

@refugeinc.1594 жыл бұрын
Will you ever need a winch riding around your yard? No. But I don't see the point in taking it off, unless you've got another project in mind for it where it will be more useful. And it definitely doesn't add 100lbs, it's probably 30lbs at most.

Just purchased a very clean 2001 Quad Runner 4WD with only 542 miles (so the odometer says). When I arrived and drove for test drive it started right up but very low idle and seemed to be a bit on the rich side. However, it ran great for test drive and for about an hour when I got it home. It started up well a few times in between, just that low idle. Rode it pretty hard and everything was beautiful. Then when I let it sit for about a half hour and was ready to put it away for the night, satisfied with my purchase, it wouldn't stay idling at all. Now it won't start at all. Not sure if the guy squirted some starter spray into it and now it wore off. Not sure if there's a vaccum issue with the petcock. I don't want to think the worse that I just purchased a huge problem but really wondering what's happening all the sudden.
