Wow I was really surprised by that 250 pulling that much weight! I Hooked my 1987 trx 250x up to a double jetski trailer with jet skis on it. It was about 1400 pounds, the 250 pulled it not to bad actually. One thing I learned is you can never underestimate the old 250 power. Im really enjoying your videos. Perhaps the best Suzuki Quad ever made in my opinion. Basically the same design from 1986-2002. Four wheel Independent suspension, 15 speed 2 wheel drive OR 4 wheel drive. I own two of them and they're great little quads. I used them for 7 years to pull high school band equipment that was perhaps equal to or heavier than your demonstration. Awesome video!

Had a older Honda recon 250 that got more use than any of our other atvs. Pulled a 4x8 trailer around our property for picking up limbs and carrying weedeaters and such. Great for when extended family came over without worrying about someone on a bigger atv. Runs all day sipping fuel. No oil filter so oil changes were a breeze.

Do the diff lock mod to that and it make a world of difference. It takes about 40min. All you do is pull the pin out in your shifter mechanism. Then it will allow you to shift the shift levers with ease. And have it in diff lock in all gear ranges. Instead of just super low.

@Andyloe Brown The are excellent for climbing being so low to the ground and yes, they did build an excellent transmission. It really makes this little 250 able to do pretty much anything. Another great test/experiment 😜! That old suzuki has me so impressed with the feature set it has for its age and engine size. Closest I've had to that is a '92 Yamaha Timberwolf 250 2x4 and an '02 Beartracker. They don't have quite that low of gears but still very surprisingly capable machines for their engine size. Mine pulled one of those Kara and 5x8 trailers and a '98 Big Bear 4x4 pretty well. It even had 25" tires on it. I really like the old semimanual transmissions. Wish they were available on newer bigger quads today.
@rockspowersports
@rockspowersports Жыл бұрын
@FlawleZ31 Thanks! I have had one of those beartrackers too and I also installed 25” tires on it. It was a fun machine but it’s a very short narrow atv and with the 25’s it was just too unstable.. You can still get Honda atvs with the foot shift, I’m not sure of any other brands that still do it for utility atvs..
@FlawleZ31
@FlawleZ31 Жыл бұрын
@@rockspowersports I had aftermarket wheels (ITP steelies) with a a little wider stance which helped out considerably on stability. Wasn't tippy feeling at all. Now I do have a 250 Bruin currently that's very similar and with just 24s doesn't feel nearly as stable. I'm going to add 1" spacers to the corners which should help out.
@rockspowersports

Cool video, tows fairly decent. My baseline tow test is an empty hay wagon up hills around the farm. Some machines don't have the traction to do it. Then the next is down hills.
