I used the link to switch from mint but it's not showing me the free 3 month trial offer. It's only offering 50% off. Is there any way I can try before I buy?

December Experience switching to Simplifi: 1) COSTCO CITI no multi-factor authentication (The current multi-factor authentication method at Citibank is not supported - "turn it off" - Mint had no problems). 2) Mortgage only shows the balance (You may view your balances for Loan Accounts, but loan transactions are not currently supported - Mint had no problem showing principal, tax, escrow, and interest payments). So my most used credit card CITI COSTCO can not be used with SMS authentication, and my largest expenses (mortgage payments) can not be traced ?! Underwhelmed is an understatement. 🤨

What I dont get is why Mint didnt simply change to the Simplfi pay model? Mint is so far superior to Simplfi I cant believe it.

Mint is basically going to be rolled up into the Karma app. I think where they stumbled is they got too greedy with advertising. Karma is supposed to help you monitor your credit score and allow you to dispute, and people think they are benevolent in guiding you to credit cards that you would qualify for. But after using Karma, people realize that they were being given links to high-interest cards. Links that credit cards paid Karma for. I never felt Mint was powerful at all and I used Simplifi when it first rolled out in beta. I moved on to Quicken for Mac because I needed something more robust and the new owner of Quicken had the software rewritten. Unfortunately, Quicken hasn't listened to me over the last three years when I begged, pleaded, and whined about how they need to allow families to share the same file, and have different logins. Simplifi does that, but not the desktop Quicken for Mac or Windows. But, Quicken asked me one more time this year and I gave them the same advice, so maybe that's a feature for 2024? So yeah, keep in mind Mint and Karma are owned by Intuit (QuickBooks) and they are actually merging the two together. Mint is going away, but most of the features are being moved into Karma. But, Intuit made a huge mistake by not offering an ad-free subscription model and Monarch (who charges $100 a year) is taking away the majority of their customer base. I do think I am going to go with Simplifi for 2024 so my partner and I can get on the same page. It's amazing to see one of the most successful budgeting apps (Mint) crumble to the ground along with Karma once those two merge. Intuit has made a lot of mistakes. Their QuickBooks for the Mac - you can't buy anywhere unless you call them or give them your cc info through a chat window. Intuit sold off Quicken - and the company that bought them came out with SImplifi and rewrote Quicken for Windows and Mac. All that to day - yeah, I wonder if anyone's heads are rolling at Intuit?

I actually like using both! Simplifi has way more powerful reporting capabilities where I can quickly see spending trends. I do love my spreadsheet because it's so hands-on. A blend of both feels right to me!

Does unused money within budget categories roll over to the next month or does each month start new?

I have used Quicken many years ago. I used older quicken apps for personal and business. I also use to use MS Money many years ago. However these last 12 years I have used Mint. It has helped us become finally stable. Awesome tool. Now I am looking for something that is Canadian Friendly and am wondering should it be Simplfi or Quicken personal and business combined. The free three months does create an opportunity. Thanks.

Importing from Mint is a MESS all categories are lost. Unbelievable that the same company could not come up with a seamless transfer of transactions and budget setting for on boarding new paying customers

Does Simplifi allow you to rollover any unused planned spending? I'm not sure if I need to upgrade to the Classic Deluxe just for this feature.

Old question but to answer here no it does not. It is on the "planned" feature list but that means nothing besides they know people want the feature.

I've been using Mint since 2012, so the news was a bit of a shock! But lately, I've been wanting to track our own spending to really see where our money is going. So we're moving over to spreadsheets, using your template as a guide! 🤍

I am 75 I have used Quicken 2015 since I upgraded to it from a previous version of Quicken. It is simple and all I need but Intuit has captured it somehow and I cannot transfer it to a new computer. If i have to buy something like Simplifi, can I transfer over ten years of records into it because it is an Intuit product? I like phones....better than computers. Can aI talk to somebody with Intuit? (frustrated) Bill

Yes! They are transferring to Credit Karma - and Monarch and a lot of others are putting out the message that Mint is shutting down without being truthful that a lot of features are moving into Credit Karma and eventually all the features. Intuit should have fought back - this was a huge blunder. Monarch and Simplifi have taken a lot of customers away from Mint because of these lies. Well, technically Mint is shutting down - so maybe it's more of a 1/2 truth.

@@mjhilts I tried empower and Simplifi recently, Empower was unfortunately too generic for what I want, Mint just did so much more, so then I tried Simplifi, and it seems pretty good so far. Easy enough way to create "rules" for what category charges go into, and the nice option of adding naming rules so that generic charges (like weird numbers for vending machines) show up as whatever I want them to be. My main criteria for a new app was 1) price - free or cheap is better, and 2) basic budget breakdowns for month by month. Monarch is the hottest thing, but they want something like $10-15 per month, and I think a lot of the people talking about it might be paid, there's too much hype and too prevalent for a new app... Empower was free, but it seems like it is meant for a cursory glance at bills, not actually looking at a breakdown by category or date. Simplify I got for I think it was $24 for the first year (no trial available, despite what they say) by going to their website, and supposedly $4/month or ~$50/ year going forward. I've only been using it a few days, but it seems good. I went through and at first I had charges missing, but when I dug into it, I actually figured out stuff I marked as a "transfer" in Mint that was showing up as a charge in Simplifi, and now you have to choose to make it a transfer or mark it as excluded from reports and spending if you want it to do the same. It's been good, maybe 8/10, better than mint.

Intuit said they are not bringing over budgeting features ever. Credit karma is gaining transactional history via linked accounts. That’s basically it.
