Love that Grim Ghost figure. In terms of a wave 2 - Iron Jaw and Scorpion come immediately to mind.

@ true enough for the question but I was thinking the more the ditko than the pat Broderick captain atom. Similarly I guess I just have missed the dc revival of the peacemaker in the eighties. But you’re right tis all about the licensing!

I can't tell you how much fun it has been to watch the Plaid Stallions enjoying the Mego revival. The cherry on the cupcake was the mini-history lesson on Atlas comics. That bit of tape on Devilina's foot at the end had me cracking up for some reason. An enjoyable video, as always!

BTW, Tiger-Man was a straight-up super-hero, a masked vigilante with tiger-like abilities. The Jaguar was the one who was inspired by Kolchak: The Night Stalker; he's a Hollywood stuntman who kept the costume he wore in a superhero movie handy for when he has to encounter a vampire in his first issue and a werewolf in his second (and last).

I definitely wasn't too young for this company's debut but I vaguely remember it. But after college I eventually ended up coming across them and reading every since one of their colored comic line. Some had promise in my eyes (like Target and Destructor) some were definitely not my cup of tea but either way still nice to see it get the Mego treatment especially Phoenix in this costume version. They really picked good ones to do. Hope a few more come out, like Brute or Tigerman, or maybe Morlock 's 2 forms as a double pack. Destructor and Target were good looks, but they had 2 or 3 each (one fod each appearance if I recall) so I'm curious which theyd go with or if they figure on swapable heads and then just come out with the alternate costumes as a clothes sale option like GI Joe use to.

First, I don’t know anything about the Atlas Seaboard characters, but I do have friends who think they are awesome. However, these four starter Mego AS characters are mega-incredible. I like Phoenix, he’s suggests a cross between Iron Man and DC’s Cyborg, but Devilina’s cloak and Grim Ghost’s outfit *REALLY* draw me in… and Hands is so clearly a 3-way cross between Spidey, Robin, and Shang Chi, he screams to join my Mego collection. I’ve never had any of the WGSH collection and am so spoiled by the SF, Fantasy, & Horror lines (Trek, Apes, Oz, Universal, Hammer, etc), I’ve never really wanted Superhero Megos… but these four… are calling me… WOW
@noman60412 ай бұрын
Ahh, i fondly remember the Atlas line and had most of them. I don't get why they would waste time making figures of characters that only lasted one issue [Hands of The Dragon] They should just concentrate on the longer lasting characters who at least made it to issue #3. [Grim Ghost, The Scorpion, Tiger-Man, The Tarantula] but i guess they needed enough characters to make a 'line' from. These better be available retail, i want the Grim Ghost figure!

I'm really impressed! I do still wish the current bandless bodies are a bit taller...but this is Mego heading in the right direction.

Since the reveal a few weeks ago from you, now every time I see the atlas logo, I saw it a lot this past weekend flipping through comic boxes at a toy show now I stop to look at the actual book. See if it was one of these characters. Good days ahead I think.

Grim Ghost is cool, but I really wanted a few different characters than these. These are fine, but I'd rather have seen the Tarantula character as a Mego figure. The first issue of that comic book floored me as a kid! I also liked the Destructor, and would have liked to have seen him. Can't go wrong with a Ditko/Wood creation. Bog Beast and the Brute would be cool too! Both are not the typical kind of stock figure that Mego would want to tackle, I'm sure, but they were amongst my favorites. Iron Jaw for sure was great! He'd look fab as well!

I'm a little disappointed to hear these are the four characters they'll be trying to push into media projects as I was really partial to Destructor, Morlock 2001, and Man-Monster myself. Ghost and Dragon are the only two of this line up I feel hopefully optimistic about. Here's hoping they do those two justice.

The Devilina figure is odd in that it doesn't look like any version of her within the couple of issues or house ads that I've seen. And just out of curiosity, I wonder what the comic included with her reprints? Both her stories from her magaizine (since there were other one-off horror stories within those)?
