We have made your wine last year and I just finished the last bottle. It was really refreshing and I will definitely make more this year. Mine even had some fizz when it came out of the bottle.

James I'm blaming you!... We are officially through the looking glass, we have entered the world of weird wines properly now. As much as we were tempted by your mint wine (we also have a LOT of mint!) we went with rice and raisin for our follow up to the rose petal (with a few added pansies if you recall to make up the batch) and we've gone mad, we're doing a full 5 gallon run!!! Entirely your fault, we've definitely been brought over to the darkside for sure... Heaven help us all. 😉 Thanks again for your enthusiasm, love of weird and wonderful wines, and your persistence in persuading others to join you in this slightly obsessive pass time. 👍

I had great results last year making raspberry and mint wine. Tasted lovely if I d say so myself. Everyone was put off by the fact it had mint in it, those that tried it want more.

'The more you have, the more uses you find for mint.' Mother Nature's intention, of course! It spreads like wildfire because, actually, it is so useful for so many things!

I absolutely love the smell of orange mint. I have some I just started growing. I’m also growing chocolate mint, pineapple mint, spearmint, peppermint, and sweet mint. Wonder if mixing orange and and pineapple would be a fruity wine? Thanks for the video

Back when I was in high school I made this amazing mint wine out of simple ingredients but I haven’t been able to replicate it since and it was so good. I’ll try yours and see if it’s even better i turned mine into a Christmas brandy!

I found your channel yesterday and must say I love it. I love soaking mint leaves in my distilled suger water but am definitely gonna try your mint wine recipe. Never heard of oak leaves for tanin. Does it matter what kind of oak leaves to look for or doesn't it matter? Green ones I suppose? I do know the answer to your question which mint is best for wine though: The one that grows best in your garden. :-)

I was just rewatching this, and I realized that by simmering the sugar with citric acid for 20 minutes you're making an invert sugar. You're breaking down the sucrose into glucose and fructose, which makes it more accessible to the yeast. It does do a lot for the mint extraction, but it helps speed fermentation too.

I'm wondering if a couple or a few heaping tablespoons of cacao powder might be an interesting variation, a "chocolate mint wine"?

Thank you brother, for sharing your experience and knowledge with us. I tried to make a wine out of mint tea (the leaves were dry, like black tea). I didn't pout lemmon juice. I poured black tea and put a lot of honey in the gallon (I wanted the wine to be meed more than mint wine). All the water was partly a black tea, partly a mint tea. At the end it wasn't what I expected. The taste was like a toothpaste. It was so bitter like a "bitter leaf" beveridge. Probably it was high in alcohol content. What did i do wrong? I didn't put fresh leaves, but instead I have put the dry leaves. Is that the problem? Thank you so much! Cheers brother!

Just making your mint wine, luckily we put our demijohn in the sink as it cracked when we put the hot liquid in - now trying second batch and going to let it cool down before it goes in the demijohn

I'll have to try this! I have a lot of peppermint in my garden! Bye the way, my Blannd didnt clear, it's a light yellow color, but it's so sweet and about 11% ABV using a simple bread yeast.

Do you think it went brown from the sugar caramelising as it was simmered rather than from the mint? That rhubarb wine looks lush. So clear. How old was that batch? Also, when will you do the first rack on the mint wine? Sorry 20 questions.

Never heard of mint wine before & think it's an interesting idea. Might have to plant some & make it in the future. Would adding orange juice instead of lemon work as well? (I really can't stand lemon.)
