Fun Fact: you can still do the Infiite Chain Hunt on Midwich (and presumably any other indoor map), you just have to manipulate the box so it will appear in the room with just one exit and camp it

Wait Im really new but i think i went against this? i had a game where me and another survivor where trying to heal each other, then suddenly chains appearled all over us for the rest of the match until we eventually got found and killed. we couldnt do anything like heal each other or gens for several minutes, and couldnt even run from the killer, could only walk? Is there anything you can even do to counter it or stop the chains? And i forget the name of the map but it was an indoor one like you said, i think it was the stranger things map.

@@banana9494 Chains can be dodged when they spawn! It's quite easy if you practice it a bit, just remember they are aiming for the position you were in the moment that little blue square appeared. It's also sometimes better to break the chains manually, than with environment, because it causes an another chain to spawn immediately (two, if the Pinhead has a certain purple addon) You're saying you're new, so you may not know this, but to turn chain hunt off, you need to solve the Lament Configuration - that yellow box. Its aura becomes visible to you at a certain distance when the chain hunt is off, and map wide when it's off. Worth mentioning that the Pinhead can teleport to you when you're solving the box, and if you got down while holding it, he'll immediately start the hunt

@@ObiadStudio ohh ok ive seen that box before i think, but im not sure if i saw it in this game. i thought the box just drew him to me though because once i picked it up he teleported to it and hunted lol, so i guess theres just a chance of getting unlucky, and i should still try to pick up the box in the future?

@@banana9494 never pick it up while you're injured, but yeah. If you can, go take it and solve it. It's best to do it while he's busy, like while he's carring the survivour, because he can only teleport to you while you're solving it. Also remember that if the chain hunt is active, only person carring the box is affected by it

Don't forget the Clocks from Freddy also didn't give you the sleep immunity when he was reworked, that was added later, so most matches you were always asleep haha.

Another fun/toxic build is the screaming pig, you would use all screaming perks on a small map which kicks them off the jigsaw boxes, combine this with addons that make boxes take longer to do and you can get a 4k with head traps, still works today.

Kids these days forget being watched by an object of obsession stalker, then finding another survivor only to have them tank a hit with dead hard length, get to a gen and then pop it in your face. When you pick them up, boom decisive strike. Try it again on another survivor and boom same thing so x4 that same play style plus they have an OoO player watching you all game telling everyone where you were. I quit for 2 years due to that shit.

It created mind games so strong that were so strong that the killer had to respect them even if they didn't have it, as the fear of them having it was worse.

@@MintSkull When I play killer, I'm not concerned with helping survivors get bloodpoints or sparing them from doing gens. And it's not toxic for me not to care. If toxic just means "stuff I don't like" then 90% of the stuff survivors think is fun (flashlight blinds, pallet stuns, long safe loops) is actually toxic.

Rancor just letting you instagib any obsession is hilariously broken, but since it only works for a small portion of a match it balances itself out. Like a final punchline to a joke nobody knew was being told.

I don't think it's broken for precisely the reason you say: You get almost nothing from it for the entire game (okay, you do get a brief bit of info every gen pop, but it's not much.) Survivors think endgame builds are unfair, but every endgame perk is a slot killer gets nothing from until the very last moments of the game, where it becomes make or break for the killer. So for the whole match, survivors haven't had to worry about gen regression, healing slowdown, aura reading, etc.

It's kind of only broken on stealth Killers, Ghostface uses it the best because he can hide his Terror Radius so well. Chucky, Wraith, and Sadako use it well too. Undetectable suppresses aura read, meaning these Killers can have Rancor and the player genuinely has no clue until they're merked. It's even more fun when you do Rancor Roulette.

I used to do Rancor Nemesis all the time, now I prefer Rancor Game Afoot. But to really get the roulette wheel spinning, try Rancor, Game Afoot, Nemesis, Furtive Chase. And you can do a really fun thing with Furtive Chase where you hook the obsession at endgame, and then when someone rescues they suddenly become obsession and you down and mori them right at the hook. Always good for a laugh.

_I just came back to DBD a few days ago and I am so, so happy that Sadako is similar to the way she was before the rework, although not as strong. You can once again use her power strategically to give Condemn to survivors mid-chases. I got a few kills through Condemn. What makes Sadako so fun is her unique playstyle that was more than just M1 and hooking. When BHVR took that away she became so boring to use._

Last playstyle is the play style i use when bored, hop on pig, seem friendly and cuz pig got the shortest mori i just get a 4k and so you dont get in chase you just stay on crouch the whole time Perks: game afoot, rancor, noed and last can be undying, thrill of the hunt, new dracula perk etc

Talking about pig but not mentioning the “two face” or “50/50” pig build. First run rule set 2 (old) reducing number of boxes to two then last will (old) to get an extra helmet, down two survivors and trap them then find a box. 50/50 you had their box so 1/4 of the time you could kill two survivors after downing them once after a little setup

I really hated Slugdako, it was so annoying. That’s why I get scared when I play against a Sadako when I’m the survivor because I never know if they will slug the whole match or it’s just a regular match. If they do slug all the survivors I just DC immediately since we can’t do anything.

How about the Knockout 4 man bleedout strategy that still exists to this day? This is so utterly annoying to play against that when i see it on the rare occasion it makes me want to stop playing for the day. These people knock down all survivors and make it incredibly hard to pick up your teammates even in teams with comms, and then they just leave everyone on the ground to bleedout and will only hook to secure the kills right before the bleedout timer would expire, if at all.

@@healergirl28 They are talking about playing for the win condition of slugged survivors bleeding out. I do this with Skull Merchant, survivors can and will bleed out before all 4 people get slugged. It's 100% a strategy to pick certain killers with certain perks and play specifically to slug only.

You can't hook if a survivor is in front of the hook so with what you mentioned survivors could just camp hooks and always take hits making a hook literally impossible if survivors decide to block. It's been uncounterable if there isn't tweaks like a cool down on getting back up

Awful idea. Bhvr nerfed overbrian, added anti 3gen because of SM, then nerfed SM and didn't revert anti 3gen. Minus one winning strategy. They increased hook stages to 70sec making camping worse strategy, yet there is broken SWF perk Reassurance. This way they also made tunneling with slugging way more required. They buffed sabo, forcing killers to slug. And you suggest basekit unbreakable? Sounds like entitled surv main. Best way to fix slugging is allowing survs to bleed out faster

I'm a bit pissed at them limiting gen kicks and overcharge use, when survivors can just finish a gen in 20 seconds anyways. It makes it fucking impossible to stop gen rushers, especially if they ran every single perk that gives you bs as survivor. I understand nerfing merchant, but they've made things so much harder and annoying by nerfing Overcharge, and again, fuckin gen blocks. It just means that killers are that much more annoying, when survivors actually have straight up illusion magic

BHVR sooner or later is going to need to scale back generator progression tools HARD, and I genuinely fear for that day as a Survivor player at the same time as I will cherish it as a Killer player. But I guess... that's the bed that people have made for themselves, right? You want games to last 5 minutes and Killers to ONLY use strong gen perks? Then you ask for more help with the "boring" gens and the Devs give you it, and KEEP REWORKING PERKS to give you more? This is what you will get. When really all they need to do is address a few broken combos like Hyper-Stakeout and maybe rework toolbox gen progression a bit.

Worst match ive suffered through was a legion that sucked at chase so they pretended to give up and let us do gens. After that they used noed to bleed everyone out. Ive seen my friend use the rancor-game afoot build, but he also used things like remember me and nwo so there was some actual gameplay happening during the match.

I like to run Rancor a lot in conjunction with Nemisis(perk) , Furative Chase and Play With Your food. At most, IF Rancor should ever get nerfed for whatever reason, you can only perform its mori on survivors who have been hook at Least once. It would get rid of the problem you stated while keeping in my fun way to play with it.

How so? I've played against quite a few merchants trying to 3 gen. I also play as them a lot and when the survivors understand the counter I sometimes feel completely powerless against them. The only problem I see with skull merchant other than the hindered is people not even trying to learn the counterplay

5:16 Slight correction about Thantaphobia, assuming we’re talking about it’s current iteration. The reason Thantaphobia got gutted so hard is that during the major 6.10 perk rework, it was buffed by a very minor amount, from 5% for each survivor injured to 5.5%. However, due to an increase in Legion players, some entitled people saw it as a nasty opportunity to complain about the perks recent buff and synergy with Legion. Keep in mind the synergy with Legion has always been around and the buff to Thanta changed practically nothing. This resulted in a patch shortly after that absolutely destroyed the perk.

I used to run Ring Drawing+Iri Tape on Sadako, it was literally the only combo that made her viable. Never used it to slug though, I was going for Condemns and generally am just too nice to play that way. Nowadays, Ring Drawing is still pretty decent, but her general kit is much better in exchange for not being able to Slugako. Her rework was so powerful they had to nerf it again, for good reason - it made Slugako even stronger. I'd consider her a low mid B at this point with the re-rework, too many people think she's bad. She really isn't, BHVR did an ok job on her and now she's pretty middle of the road. I still regularly get condemns on her and she's not even my main Killer! Just one of several I return to in my roster.

Legion actually did have addons to make their power more annoying during that era of DBD. But there were also mechanics that existed back then to make Legion feel OP to casual players (which is 99% of DBD's player base). For one thing, even though Legion was 110% instead of 115%, their frenzy was much faster than current frenzy. Also, if they hit someone who was already affected by Deep Wound, it would end Frenzy, but it would also take a chunk out of the Mend bleed out. Meaning that hitting a Deep Wound survivor with your power could help you to eventually down that survivor, although you would need multiple uses of Feral Frenzy. Frank's Mixtape used to buff the amount of progress taken out of the bleed out timer, meaning you could down a survivor by spamming Frenzy to get one hit at a time. Another addon that helped this abusive playstyle was Stab Wounds Study, which made the bleed out time for mending shorter. And since every repeat Frenzy hit reduced the bleedout time, Stab Wounds Study and Frank's Mixtape let you 3 hit a survivor. Granted, you'd need 2 uses of your power, so you'd have to go on cooldown once just to get a down, but you ALWAYS got the down. Your power was faster than Sprint Burst, goes over pallets and windows, and your power didn't used to get canceled by whiffing a hit. So there was literally zero counterplay.

i went against forever pinhead and slugdako. i eventually powered the gens with pinhead, but slugdako was so miserable that i just dced :( almost def went against a few chess merchants too, but the other 2 were especially bad (thank you bast mine 🙏

Before the characters and map reworks and new hatch spawn, me and my friend used to play with prestige 3 Claudette on the Gideon meat packing plant map with urban evasion, self care and iron will. Hide and seek from the killer. We’ve wasted sometimes a full hour with the killer looking for us. Always to the point where the killer disconnected. Very annoying from killer POV but god I miss them days

while not full playstyles, ive encountered two typess of bot killers, one is gen slowdown doctor, always has merc storm and other gen slowdowns to make the game take longer for no reason, and spamming sadako, who just spam teleports to build bp for the action, while blocking tvs if you want to wipe your stacks.

I remember afk pig, it was actually pretty funny to me honestly just seeing a pig sit at a box the entire game. I mean sure it was annoying if u were the one that needed to get the trap off at that specific box, but at the same time it was just honestly hilarious, kinda sad they removed it, honestly, lol. I remember trolling my friend group in a custom match with the pig, trying out that playstyle, it was hilarious to hear their reaction to it, lmfao. I wasn't around when the forever freddy was a thing and I'm honestly glad I wasn't tbh, cuz that just sounds SO horrific to go against. I feel like another one that should be on here is the singularity in general (my opinion) because his mechanic is so effing annoying to go against, especially when there's a 3 gen. I mean, sure u can disable his cams but thats only for a certain amount of time, it's not like u can get rid of them for good like skull merchant's drones. Also, the fact that he can just teleport constantly to u from cams is so frustrating, and it's EVEN MORE frustrating when u can't even stun him after he's teleported to u.. I don't see how nobody has complained too much about him to get him reworked (to my knowledge at least) cuz to me it feels like he needs one.

i think the reason game afoot rancor isn’t nearly as hated as other trolling playstyles is that you can only do it in endgame. it doesn’t rely on dragging the game out or wasting peoples’ time (too much), and people tend to be less butthurt about getting killed when the game is almost over. plus getting a 4k with this build is actually pretty difficult.

I really hope they look into survivors who just rat in a corner somewhere all game, its annoying as killer but its even more frustrating when you're a survivor and you not only have to repair most of the gens turning a 10 minute match into a 30 minute hide and seek game, but you also have to take almost all the chases and be the one rescuing hooked people while they do #### all all game. Hopefully the Distortion nerf works as a temporary bandaid at the very least since killers will be able to find people with aura perks more as it can't recharge unless the survivor takes chases.

I wanted to also mentionned the infinite mending legion where you could litteraly complete two gens and wouldnt have even finished mending. It was painful with the old thanatophobia and nurses calling. The legion just had to keep the game from going on long enough and you would die of not mending while attempting to mend... It was really painful, boring and if i remember was also bannable at some point!

Im a bit newer to the game but I played against this pinhead that had where the chains follow you EVERYWHERE like I couldn’t run, do a gen, heal, or unhook because there was a chain spawning on me constantly. Idk why it did that though

I never understood the SM remake. OG SM: Survivor in range of drone gets exposed and therefor goes down in 1 hit New SM: survivor in range of drones lose a health state for NO reason and therefor goes down in one hit. It's the same thing but worse since you can get injured whilst the killer is on the other side of the map. If you get exposed whilst the killer is on the other side of the map, atleast the status effect has a timer and you're still healthy. Can someone please explain how it is a possitive rework

There where a few more other hated stuff.. Original Freddy was also hated because of how good his Aura reading was. ( Even though he was considered to be a F - Tier killer, he was actually one of the strongest killers in the game at the time, the problem was most people did not know how to play him. He also had a built in system that tends to force survivors to wake themselves up by damaging their own gens.. Something that did more damage to the gen than anything else at the time.. This was baked into his base kit.. His only drawback.. Admittedly a big one.. Was having to wait 7 seconds in order to attack someone you just put to sleep. Something that can be shortened to 4 seconds with addons but honestly hes better without addons and/or a different set of addons depending on what you are wanting to do. I played "Iron" Freddy a lot back then. IE no perks, no addons, and no offerings except BP offerings. ) Skybilly was also hated and by a lot and it got gutted. Skydemo is oddly back and I am confused as to why, since they originally took it out before they took out Skybilly.. Huntress Orbitals are also hated, was taken away for a long while but recently made a comeback. Not sure why they removed the stuff that they put in to prevent it but its what it is. There is also stuff that was more about specific perk combos that got broken by BHVR as it lead to some things they did not like. ( Such as the two versions of the "Machine gun builds" , The Decisive killer, ect. )

I wish just BHVR would embrace the silly side of the game and discourage overly competitive builds/playstyles. Just imagine if all the previous alternative game modes were permanent. Everyone would have a choice if they wanna play a casual or sweaty game. I mean if Team Fortress 2 can have multiple game modes i don't see why DBD can't

Unfortunately when survivors say "not overly competitive" they often mean "let survivors have a relaxed game an still win all the time." That said, it'd be great to have a permanent "random perks" mode people can play, I feel like that's a pretty good proxy for a creative, non-serious game for everyone, killer and survivor.

@@MrHuman002 ye Furtive and Friends both have their advantages and dissadvantages. Furtive gives the funny stealth gameplay that can surprise people - Friends gives info where people are at very relably (also Nemesis gives an aura reveal for every scream too, it's actually a great combination). I tried variations of the build without Nemesis or Game afoot but I found that those + Rabcor are the essentials and the 4th perk is prefference. At least, in my experience (I have been playing that build for a year now - with furtive before since Chucky didn't exist yet - I kinda don't wanna play any other build any more xD)

Believe me or not, i witness in my team of solo queue (i played twice in premade after 4 years) countering AFK Pig and forcing Pig chasing us almost at the point instead of hostaging us, WE hostage her, she expected to genrush her, but we actually did 99% gens including the one that was closer to her, and we messed around for 30 minutes even roleplaying

I think the end game rancor build is alright just because it's not nearly as oppressive, the survivors only have to deal with it for about 60 seconds rather than a full 10-15minutes (or longer)

Easily the worst times to be playing dbd was legions release and skull merchant literally these two killers almost killed the game more specifically legion this killer was something, especially considering they weren’t good at all literally one of the most miserable and most boring times to play dbd and ive been playing since dbd’s release this was genuinely awful i actually stopped playing dbd same goes for skull terrible and the fact the devs were happy they brought this to the game is insane.

Infinite mending legion should have been in there , it was the single most miserable thing to face (after lag switcher and hacker) in my opinion. Legion was the auto DC killer for most survivors at that time.

Also the rancor build you are talking about is getting a nerf soon-ish. They are reworking how mori works completely. ( Meaning yes, this also means Myers, Pyramid Head, Sadako, the Mori offerings, Rancor, and Devour Hope are all getting either full reworks or partial reworks due to what they are doing with the mori in general. )

I was under the impression that Hex: Devour Hope and Rancor would keep their moris. Only the mori addons will be changed to bloodpoint offerings, and the killer gets to mori the last survivor for free. If not, then F this game because rancor builds are my favorite.
