​@ebbderelict Cool Runnings was completed in '92 released in '93. Canadian Bacon was started filming in '93, but wasn't released til late '95 til a year from his death had passed. Wagons East was filmed in late 93 to early 94, and was released as soon as it was finished, though it was supposed to be a little longer with more Candy scenes, but he died before filming them. Wagons East was the only John Candy film I saw in theatres upon release.

Fun vid. Cool Runnings is one of my all time favorites and I watch it at least once every couple of years. Pretty sure Wagons East was his last flick though, since he died on the set a short time before they finished the movie. They were able to finish it by making some changes to scenes and his character to finish the movie. I guess technically he didn't finish it, but it was definitely his last flick.

YESSS!!!!---You did "Cool Runnings"!!! I actually remember seeing this when it first came out with my friend Ethan. We were both 10-years old and it has stuck with us our entire life. I am not a 128th gold medalist runner and when I am out training my miles, I listen to the training song "Rise Above It", one of my personal favorites. A lot of people dont know this, but in the movie PLANES, TRAINES AND AUTOMOBILES, John Candy makes a joke that he would like to retire in Jamaica. Ironically, 10-years later he does as his character is exiled in Jamaica after cheating in the Olympics. I think it's the last time Ive heard a Disney movie say "Assholes" in a joke. "Benny and Joon" is a good movie too!! It's one of my personal favorites since I was a kid. RIP JOHN CANDY!!!

I went to the Olympics when it was held in Salt Lake City Utah and one of the events we attended was the 4 man bobsled . Watched all the teams as they came in and the most memorable was when the Jamaican bobsled team came in and they had no absolutely no resemblance to the guys in Cool Runnings they looked like Linebckers from American Football , they were big dudes lol.

I Remember seeing this with my mom on pay per view and she recored on VHS, I believe I saw it in the Movies with a friend. It was one of the greatest Movies ever. Rest in Peace John Candy he was the best actor there was, I also remember seeing this during my last day in 5th grade in 1994 when they told us that John Candy died. This was the hardest concept to try to get through to the people I was trying to work with to make an Office type show at my actual workplace. They just couldn't grasp the concept that they were all already in place and set up for later scenes that we should film them, now, instead of trying to get everyone back together at a later time. That's why you never work with kids, animals and untrained actors. It never went anywhere, unfortunately, and, now, our workplace is way to big and busy to carve out time and area to do anything with.

I can give you a number 11. I am originally from the west part of Austria (no I do not know Schwarzenegger, Austria has more then 8 Million people). I am 42 now, but 20 years back, me and a friend of mine loved to go into a bar called......Cool Runnings! Yeh, you heard right. Mike was really from Jamaika and made the interior into a Jamaican beach club, or something. And those cocktails he served were lovely! 😍 There was this bob as well on one of the walls(I do not think it was the original one) and we loved for all for the atmosphere and for all in winter times. Outside snow, inside the Jamaican beach with reggae music. Oh this is one of the less times I miss from my youth. Around 2005 Mike went back to Jamaika. Yes, I also love the film. It is a "must watch" film in my opinion. Thanks for the reaction. ❤

COOL RUNNIGS is one of my favorites. I love that movie. It had been internationally so sucessful the concept of the movie became the inspiration for a bunch of similar movies, alone two of them had been done by German filmmakers 11OO Maybe the Naughty had been part o the Zeitgeist back then while writing the early Disney script. After all there had been successfull other movies around like the first POLICE ACADEMY movie or even the original GHOSTBUSTERS with several tongue in cheek scenes.

As a Calgarin for many years, it was smart they filmed the winter scenes first. Calgary is subject to some rather unusual weather conditions, formost being called a Chinook *shin uk* The weather can go from cold to summer weather in just a few hours. In fact at the time of the Olympics being in Calgary, there was a chinook going through and for the first 4/5 days, they were near to cancelling the entire thing completely since any outdoor events had very little snow on the cround at all. The shots at the airport ( yes, that was YYC or Calgary International) that wasn't that bad, it was more wind than anything. 1988 was considered the year of the Underdog as it wasn't just the Jamacian Bodsled Team There was also a gent from England nick-named Eddie the Eagle. He has quit the story as well.

I was living in Slave Lake Alberta when we traveled down to Edmonton and say this movie in the hotel room with the rental service and eating royal pizza. Good times. Good family flick. I was actually in the movies watching this the day it was announced that John Candy died. We walked out and that night, on the news, it was announced that he had died. It was very sad.

I have a funny story about this wonderful movie. Back in the day I had a band (The Most) that although never successful outside our local area (metro Detroit) we released several cd's and through our joint management we opened locally for bands like the Romantics and the Rockets. We recorded mainly at a studio called "Pearl Sound" run by a very dear friend named Ben Grosse who was an incredibly talented producer who later became very successful creating soundtracks for movies like "10 Things I Hate About You." Anyway, Ben eventually sold his studio and moved to LA. Although we kept in touch we occasionally briefly lost track of one another including around the time of "Cool Runnings." Ben met the music producer for "Cool Runnings" and tried to help her out when she needed a song about winter sports, specifically bobsledding. Oddly enough, one of our few popular songs (I can't really call it a "hit" although locally it was well played) was called "Bob Sledding with Bob." Perfect, right? Unfortunately Ben and I were temporarily out of touch since his move and my marriage and he was unable to hook up with me about the details (totally my fault!). Even sadder, his friends next project: "Don Juan Demarco" starring Johnny Depp also coincidentally matched up with another of our local songs: "Don Juan." This time his friend loved the song and was ready to place it on the soundtrack (Ben and I having reconnected) BUT just before the release Ben's musical connection was let go at her studio and Bryan Adams was brought in to do the soundtrack!! Both movies were wonderful and the soundtracks were ok, but ohh! what could've been!🙀🎸
