4:45 - For those who are struggling to do these: If you are able to do one/two-handed flat hand push-up but unable to do the same at the fingertips, then you need to strengthen your fingers. To do this, get them accustomed to handling your weight in that position first, and you do this by standing on your fingertips without actually doing the push-up which would require more strength due additional strain created by the movement. When you are able to stand on your fingertips for at least 10 seconds, you should be able to do a few push-ups as well.

Good video as usual. I find that hanging on the bar till complete failure at the end of a pull-up set (especially weighted) to be one of the most effective grip exercises. And all it takes is adding a few extra seconds to your standard routine. You can do pull-ups on a thick or spinning bar if you want to go extreme.

Fingertip pushups: Even more challenging is using curved fingers on the very tips of the fingers - piano playing style! This strengthens the very fingers as well as the hands and forearms. Fist push-ups: Don’t forget the two placements - first two knuckles karate style. But support on the last 3 knuckles is good - as is rolling between the two placements!
@Moodymongul4 жыл бұрын
4:42 - imo, rather than jump straight to the one arm fingertip pushup (from using two arms). First, gradually incline the feet while still doing the two arm fingertip pushups. This helps you prep for the one arm version. Peace

I’m digging the background music. If I might add, my front delts tend to give out before my forearms when performing the wrist roller with my arms outstretched like that. Hey Ryan! I love the aesthetics of a well built and defined forearm,so i definitely want to get there. Currently doing some of them (in some variations) for my tennis elbow rehab,but since i got used to doing them almost daily, it will be easier for me to maintain this routine throughout my weekly program. The thing i heard is that,since forearms aren't used to this type of stress (because we don't isolate them as much as biceps,triceps etc) they tend to adapt faster to the new stimulus,so the results can be faster and more significant. You also gave me the idea to make my own wrist roller! Thank you for the video and your advice,because it's the first time i heard that we should keep our scapulas depressed when doing one arm hangs. I always try them dead hanging and cannot get a lot of training volume that way. I will use the tip ypu mentioned and see how it goes. Thanks again!👍

Good video. The pvc wrist roller works better in my opinion when you hook it up to a low cable weight machine or pulley system. There are also competitions with weighted sleds. They use a big spool for the wind up going for distance with as much weight as you can drag by wrist rolling. The weighted hang is limited by how much your shoulders can hold.

Make a fist. Open an close your fingers. You have to work in the opposite direction, or as bodybuilding calls it the antagonistic motion, the opening fingers. If you hold a wrist roller straight out in front of you, your front delts may be the limiting factor and not your forearms. I slide my roller over a bar and put it at shoulder height in my power rack so I can make my forearms do all the work.

Use (THICKER BARS) on Bench press, , Deadlifts, Dumbbell curls, Dips, Pull ups, push ups & any & all other strength training you do. Watch how just making the bar thicker it'll make it hard to complete your normal reps you normally do. The thicker the bar the thicker & Stronger your wrist & forearm will be. You'll be amazed how thick your forearm will grow & how strong your wrist & fingers will become. A stronger grip helps you with performing more reps when doing any upper body workout.

What's a good time for the one-arm hangs? I can do 15 seconds or so left-handed (my weak arm/hand) and I'm guessing 20-30 seconds right-handed (I've never actually tested it because I'm pretty asymmetrical in terms of strength and I always stop after the max amount of time I'm able to do left-handed, but I feel that I can go on for much longer right-handed. I think on a good day at full strength I could reach 30 seconds. And btw, all of these times are NOT at full strength, but always after 4 sets of pull-ups). Problem is, I have absolutely no clue if that's good, decent, great or outright garbage. At the moment, I usually do a (two arm) hang exercise with 10 kg extra weight for about a minute before my arms give up, but again, I always do the hang after I've done my pull-up sets (4 sets usually), so I'm assuming if I did the hang first at full strength, I'd probably reach 90 seconds or so (I've honestly no idea). To anyone reading, forgive my ignorance. I have literally only started "working out" (only arm exercises like pull-ups, push-ups and some core exercises because I want to do a front lever) about 2 months ago so I'm pretty new to all this, and that's why I have no clue if my times are any good. I'd like to be able to reach 3 minutes minimum for the hang and about a minute or so for each hand individually. Is that a realistic goal, too ambitious or way too low? I'd love an honest answer. Thanks!

I just started working at a bakery and I have to use the cookie scooper at a fast pace, which has been a challenge due to having weak hands. Any advice would be appreciated lol.
@MinusTheGym Жыл бұрын
Is a cookie scooper like an ice cream scooper? If so, then yes, it’s the same muscles involved, so a grip strengthener will help, but the thing that will help most is using the cookie scooper consistently. Adaptation to the specific movement is best achieved by practicing the movement itself.
