Ah yes, this is at the stage where they had _almost_ got semi-auto handguns right. Nice. Also, Mae's speech is perfect for this type of video: calm, quick but not too quick to follow, and with a pleasant pitch. Thank you for your efforts!

@@JohnChoidotOrg Beretta went to the slide safety with the 92S, to meet the requirements of law enforcement agencies. The original 92 had a frame mounted thumb safety, the 51 had a frame mounted cross bolt. Currently, the Beretta 92x Performance has a frame mounted thumb safety.

It's the 9x19mm Glisenti, a low-powered version of the Parabellum used in the Glisenti pistol. They already had mountains of the cartridge and didn't want to switch mid-war (a common Italian Army problem in both World Wars).

@@TheFaithfulRedeemer Yes, at lower reliability and more problems depending on ammunition brand and the pistol itself. It is suggested that you use 25 percent or less powder.

@@TheFaithfulRedeemer It's a blowback, so if you want to run 9mmP thru it, the first thing is to check your sanity ["Don't use ammo the gun isn't designed for."] The 2nd would be to get a much heavier recoil (main) spring. The next would be to add some mass to the slide. 4th is to run another sanity check: WTH are you going to all this trouble instead of just getting a gun that was designed to run the ammo you want to play with again? 5th: see step 1.

@Jimmy Jones & the Kool-Aide Crew I think the fear comes from everything about the round visually is 9mm luger except theyre not... An accidental overpowered round blowing a slide through my face/blinding me is my biggest gun fear. And a mix up would be so easy. I would need to have several fool-proof redundancies in place while loading and storing to put my mind at ease. But im kindve a safety-sally so take that for what you will lol

It had to shoot a fairly powerful cartridge in a blowback design. The FN 1903, that had to fire a round of similar power, was even bigger and heavier.

@@neutronalchemist3241 Yep. But it is more a thing with photos. Photos does not convey the scale. Or does not convey the relative scale very good, to be more precise. Reality often could be surprising in this regard.

As Mae said a 9x19mm, but not a Parabellum... 0_o I can only imagine the number of M1915's that got beaten to death firing 9mm Para's. Must have been an eye opener. ^~^ (edit) because my ability to spell is utter rubbish at times...

@@ditzydoo4378 not in my experience.. the lockup In locked guns and or recoil spring and slide in blowback guns are most likely to be damaged. Very unlikely the barrel would burst. Not saying it’s impossible but I think it unlikely. Only time I’ve seen a barrel burst or even bulge is with an obstructed bore. But who knows.

Very cool gun! But now I’m confused .. 9x19 but not 9mm Parabellum? Or 9mm Glisenti ? Or did you mean not 9mm NATO? I thought Luger, 9x19 and Parabellum were the same but only NATO was like a +P and Glisenti is like a minus P .

Surprisingly modern when you compare this to a Mauser broomhandle, Luger or any number of revolvers common in WWI. Is 9x19 Glisenti still factory produced or do you have to handload a Parabellum cartridge to Glisenti levels?

recoil is ok thanks to that heft and she locks upen when empty. Overall, not a bad subben id say. jush wish that cartrige was a liddle mor powerfull. (misspellings intended) to help describe the spoken Schmglish the narrator is saying.
