LEGENDS! D Boon forever! Leftist lyrics, inspired by the Industrial Workers of the World, Woody Guthrie, etc. Boon shred that guitar! He met Watt as kids and insisted Watt learn the bass. Boon's mom was also vested in it, believing music would provide a focus to keep them from the chaos of southern CA haha

Great to hear you listening to Minutemen - After D Boon passed the other two were joined by a fan / guitarist to form fIREHOSE who are well worth a listen - try Down With The Bass or Honey, Please.

I haven't listened to too much of these guys but this album is great and have a firehose cassette that I lived called Fly'n the Flannel or something close to that.

The one drum reminds me about the Throwing Muses' drummer, David N. He was a marching band drummer before joining the muses.

They emerged from the US punk/harcore scene, but always were ahead of their peers. Along with REM, Husker Du and Meat Puppets, they are the most important band of the 1980s alternative scene in the United States (for me, of course). This song is fire, all the Double Nickles on the Dime album is fire too, but their sound was much more diverse than this song suggests. They were great musicians, as you could notice, and Jazz and funk are part of their menu. Too bad there are so few images, videos and promos of the band out there. But definitely they deserve much more recongnition than they have nowadays. Check the songs The Glory of Man and Corona from the same album or The King from the Hill, Price of Paradise and The Big Stick for a different approach to them. And they made great covers too, including Have You Ever Seen the Rain and Dr. Wu (by Steely Dan!). Good dive, if you want it.

I just found this awesome Mike Watt video. He started releasing solo albums in the 90's. MTV played his clip Piss Bottle Man which I highly recommend but this one is also really funny kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJe7qXaPZ7CjfpI
