Christian bale has some serious discipline when it comes to weight loss/gain. I don't think I could lose that much weight if I didn't eat for a yr. then to turn around and put 60lbs right back on to play a badass vigilante is absolutely insane dedication.

Most I’ve stayed awake was almost 2 days. Once you’ve crossed the sleep line (like hunger), your body sort of adapts, but the brain is getting in a weird defense/ aggressive mode. That’s what I noticed, doesn’t have to be the same for everyone. Loved the recap and I’m just binging through your channel 😂💯💯

I'm a severe insomniac. I use muscle relaxexers to sleep, soma (carisoprodol). Very dangerous as they can stop your diaphragm. If I don't use them, I end up going 3-7 days without a nap... You can have severe or even death if you don't sleep in a long time, so I choose Soma instead.

I had tried everything in the world to convince him to gain some weight, but a stubborn, and unconcerned person like him just wouldn’t hear me out. He avoided the issue by bringing up another topic, or by other means... Any advice?(Ik this isn’t Reddit but I am getting desperate now)

@samaiello7543 Жыл бұрын
Honestly, I’m not qualified but I’m a junkie, clean over a year now from heroin crack & meth, and what I’ve found through self reflection and groups and counseling at my clinic, is that someone (lets say a 21 year old dude named sam) who does heroin and someone (lets say a 45 year old single mother) who drinks half of a bottle of wine a night, are doing it for the same, or very similar reasons. I related more to a lot of the people there with habits I would’ve hypocritically shrugged off as drama queens or attention seeking previously, (oh wine? ha, try a gallon of vodka a day, try smoking a brick of dope off foil, etc) and that perspective is wrong. It may seem obvious, but the reasons for almost any addiction or unhealthy habit, or at least the start of them, the catalyst, are very similar. My incredibly long-winded point here besides the whole WHY thing, is that if you can’t find specific advice or info about what he may be specifically going through, a lot of the advice you can find can very much be applied to that, regardless of the substance. The recovery is the actual steps, the first step being self-awareness and/or recognition of unhealthy behaviours, and the steps to recovery are very similar, a few caveats here and there (notably alcohol & benzos in terms of drug abuse, can cause deadly seizures, and with anorexia/similar EDs that result in dramatic weight loss, refeeding syndrome is something that needs to be taken into account. Refeeding syndrome commonly occurs in people who are starved and suddenly eat a decent-sized meal, the body literally cannot handle it, a lot of holocaust survivors upon liberation died from chocolate and such, iirc). I know this is a very long-winded, probably hard to follow, response, I haven’t slept in over two days now and things are getting funky. I wish you and your brother the absolute best, I’m sure it can be incredibly frustrating, but unless he wants help, he wont get it i.e. even if he went into treatment, unless he wanted the help, it doesn’t do all that much, at least in the moment. I look back on my hospital stays and even when it didn’t keep me away from self-destruction immediately upon discharge, I am still glad that I went. If he says he wants help, try to address that ASAP, because he might not want help the next day ,but if he gets admitted that day, he will be in safe professional hands during the next, if that makes sense. Not trying to make any assumptions about the severity, but if it comes to that, rather. My best advice is to help him WANT help, as opposed to helping him GET help, until he communicates that he does indeed want it. It can’t be forced, and only leads to more strain; if something seems to be seriously wrong, even if not an emergency, but the possibility of the situation becoming one, then that is the time to “force” the help. I am so sorry that he, you, and family are going through this. It affects everyone in the family in different ways I’m sure, but I don’t wanna put words in your mouth. I was addicted to smack but the fallout was felt by everyone, I have PTSD and have given others PTSD from resuscitating me, be it my older sis who was also trying to stay clean off of it, or a junkie pal, etc. im just glad my mom never had to, she only ever saw me nod out a shit ton and even that scared the shit out of her. I was NOT gonna stop until I was ready, and even over a year clean I still don’t always feel ready, but I told myself that I was back then, and got help for the fifth time and it finally stuck. I tricked myself, lied to myself until it was true, except in a “positive” way I am aware that heroin use and EDs are different, like I said, the why, and the feelings felt by those who are around the one in pain can be eerily similar. I wish everyone the best, if you or anyone who is reading this needs to chat about anything, hit me up with a reply here and we can figure something out. Sorry for the rambles, I know it’s probably borderline indecipherable, but I hope there’s something in there that makes sense, I genuinely feel for you and I feel bad that this comment doesn’t do it the full justice of the care I immediately felt, but I sincerely, SINCERELY, wish you the best, and I’ll be around whenever and hopefully less sleep-deprived, if you did want to have a proper chat. It has been seven months since you posted this so I hope things have shaped up, you deserve a response, and the fact that you are asking for advice on KZbin - it’s gotta be nagging at you near-constantly, as it’s definitely not the first format most people go to, and I mean no offense by that, it’s totally understandable, and I get it. I hope 2023 is kind to you and your family, and I wish you all the ABSOLUTE best. Sorry for the full-on novel here, no sleep, mania, and wanting to give you some advice combined into this mess, but like I said, if you need anything, I will hopefully be well-slept and will never say no to messaging, or advice, validation, or just an ear (or rather eyes since its a screen). All the best, Your friendly neighborhood ball of decrepitude

Brings back memories of stumbling out of the CNC shop bathroom after smoking a speedball (never shot up, just smoked crack and dope, dope off foil) at 105lb 5’10” and coming to my senses like two hours later just before the end of my shift, running a manual machine to shorten hex head screws from 5/8 to 7/16 lengths, if I was on one of the CNC machines, probably would’ve been a bit less dangerous (no matter what this is gross negligence and a terrible idea but shops like that are a breeding ground for heavier drugs, mostly meth and coke since they wouldn’t put you to sleep, but Im a downer dude and stims on their own never got me too good after the first few times, hence the speedballin’, so i wouldn’t crash, but still got dat sweet poppy bliss. Dumb stupid shit) I even a 15 min cycle on the parts we needed that week, could’ve just done that instead of a manual mill with a horizontal circular blade, never learned the proper names and could only really do a few parts, worked there two years and knew about the same when I went off the rails and stopped showing up, as when I started. I gotta re-watch this, gives me similar vibes to The Wrestler in a way (god that shot of him going through the deli curtain is so good)
