Great tutorial. I would add: In the event of needing to swap a computer. Save your AMS setup with an appropriate name. Then locate it in the audio preferences in the the system library and make a back up to your external backup drive.

Great tutorial! I have a similar question as @Cers10 a year ago: I want to control 2 Mainstage rigs from 2 hardware synths and shoot back from both Mainstages to these 2 and maybe to more hardware synths for layering, zones etc. How do I prevent the hardware synths from getting double triggers and double program changes? Creating two different presets on the XM and then switch to the 2nd preset manually in case of failover?

This all great, and I do appreciate this resource. It sort of works with what I'm trying to do, but for idiots like me, I think it would be much more effective if you kept it a lot more basic: one MIDI keyboard going into Computer 1 and Computer 2, and 2 computers sending MIDI to around the RTP network. Then I could set it up, check it out, and it either works or doesn't. With this example, I have to wade through grokking your naming conventions, multiple connection possibilities, and basically a lot of stuff that's extraneous to the basic point of connecting 2 computers to one MIDI network. This tutorial could be "part 2," maybe. All I'm trying to accomplish is connecting an old iMac and a new MacBook together to send and receive MIDI to each other and to external devices with an mioXL, which looks functionally like the mioXM you're using. Thanks for listening.

Hi Guys - This is exactly what I've been trying to work out. Would it be possible to do a video about this but expanding the set up (like you did with the PA12 and adding multiple XM's/XL with a switch)? So 2 computers and 3 Mio XM's all going into the switch. The RTP midi/Network sessions then get's very confusing....Thanks for all your videos they're so helpful.

I get what you mean. It's honestly just like this video but done per interface. You do an A and B port for each device connected like in this video on the mioXM. Then you would do the exact same process on the mioXL. You just keep adding network sessions to the computers. I could do a video but it'll basically be this video twice.

@@iConnectivitySupport I understand that makes sense. On the other MioXM would you be able to use RTP1-6 even though they're used on first XM? as long as you create new network sessions?
@iConnectivitySupport
@iConnectivitySupport 2 жыл бұрын
@@charliesingleton7823 You can only connect an RTP port to a single session not to multiple. Even if you have different computer. If you set it up for the same RTP port to connect to 2 sessions on a network 1 will get it and the other will struggle and keep trying to connect without success.

Great, but what if you want to trigger external midi expanders in this scenario with 2 Mainstages , would this result in double triggers since 2 DAWs would send MiDi back?

So you want Mainstage to shoot out from 2 computers to multiple keyboards/sythns? Or you want multiple keyboards to trigger 2 Mainstage rigs? OR did you mean 2 playback computers to Mainstage computer connected to the the mioXM? Let me know the exact setup you were thinking so I can respond better. Also feel free to hit us from our support page of our website.

Not sure if this is the place to ask this, but I've been looking to setup a redundant keyboard rig with 2 mainstage computers. The playaudio1u seems perfect for this, however: I also want to use some hardware synths that outputs into mainstage aswell (I need inputs in the audio interface, that goes to both mainstage computers, and then I can mix software synths with hardware). Since the playaudio1u doesn't have any audio-inputs, how would I achieve this? I hope you'll understand what I'm trying to convey here lol.

I get your problem but I don't understand why you want to send your hardware synths analog audio into mainstage? For processing or for In Ear Monitoring or for recording? If so ... why? IEM shouldn't be running from your MainStage in the best case and digital processing kind of misses the point of analog. The most easy solution would be to have an analog input splitter and route the same signal to two additional usb interfaces that feed your software input-wise. Most softwares let you pick different interfaces for inputs and outputs. I dont think its the solution you expected but I'm actually still trying to understand your issue. Hope this helps.

@@leonscholz97 maybe I explained it wrong, but I have a nord stage 3 along with other Yamaha synths that I would like to route through mainstage. For processing, and also to combine software synths with the nord. I hope this explains it a bit!

Ok. In that case get a iConnectivity AUDIO4c. Its basically the same logic as the PA1U but you get 4 Input and 4 Outputs and two Usb Ports for pcs running mainstage or ableton or qlab or whatever.

@@leonscholz97 that one sounds great! Do you know of anything that has more outputs though? Often I need atleast 5, since I use stereo keys, sometimes stereo tracks and mono click.

@@12349370 Just get to AUDIO4c and you have 8 channels. :) But you would have to create an "Aggregate Device" on your Mac in order to let both interfaces be recognized as one device. That's necessary because your DAW only lets you select one Inputdevice. Idk a solution for windows unfortunately. Maybe someone can help.
