It's really quite tragic that one of the most unique ideas in BL2, the E-tech weapons, is so abysmally implemented that most of the time using E-tech weapons feels like a punishment. They look really cool, they have really great sound design and feel good to fire, they're rare and shiny and have a uniquely coloured beam that makes your brain give you some happy chemicals when you see it, but they do about as much damage as a reproachful look. All they had to do is just... do more damage, it's one of the rare cases when a simple matter of just increasing the numbers would have been all that is needed.

i think the only reason why that one is alright is because of the vladof ammo consumption quirk. other Etech launchers are okay enough for damage but they just devour so much ammo that they feel like they do nothing

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if the reason these guns consume more ammo for less damage is that they forgot to give it impact damage (which would let gun skills proc off them), only ever tested them against level 10 enemies and went "okay they work"

I can't fathom something harder and more pointless than this. Although it does show how they did mess some things up in BL2. They got gunshy of making ETech too good, so they made them nearly worthless. They nerfed all guns(fire rate got a hit across the board, while accuracy loss from recoil is all around worse, elemental chance and damage....) in general compared to BL1, making toptier legendaries mandatory, or nearly so, after a certain point, they didn't like Craw being farmed by anyone with a hard hitting weapon and good aim, so eventually made some raid bosses truly impossible without several gallons of cheese. And the weapon scaling is all kinds of fucked which makes too much farming both kind of pointless and yet almost mandatory. And outside of cheese and characters built purely out of Taco Hell, weapons immediately get outclassed by much lower rarity gear after only a few levels. And they wrecked the stores, meaning you cant find shit in them. Then BL3 happened. And I guess I could complained about Presequel Nisha's skill giving blue balls because i couldnt find a Vladof sniper fast enough but thats not a complaint. /10 year old forum post Oh wait. Gaige, no Anarchy.

I wish. I wish SO much. That the right people remember Plants Vs Zombies garden Warfare exists. And makes a Bloons shooter. Playing as a crossbow, sniper, engineer, artillery, necromancer, arcane mage, or as an alchemist. A game with all of them. Your choice to develop your tree and style. Being an alchemist throwing potions to wound enemies, darts to assist or a potion to turn an ally into a monstrosity. Blending science AND magic and so much more. It would be amazing.

Thanks for the warning in advance, as someone who has these problems it’s good to have an answer in advance. Borderlands 3 was so bad we actually found out about my problem. As for 2 now it’s to the point where I can only spec certain ways, No Nuke Axton, Thoughtlock only Maya, no Bloodsplosion Krieg, no shock and aggghhh Gaige. Things like that are off the table for me now or I’m forced into a specific build only now.

I had to revise my position on tediore slag darts, but that's a very small revision, almost an addenda, as YOU don't need ME to tell ya how non-unique tediore aren't really worth it in the first place still, dart are piss poor. they do not activate A LOT of skills that would give them much needed effect. I hate them, all of my friends hate them, that one friend that found in zero (more cutscene zero than gameplay zero, but that as well) one of his kin (...) hates all of them except the high chance slag one. they sucks altogether!
