Dear Friends, this video is the presentation of a great composer: Johannes Brahms.
It is an honor to talk to you about Brahms, because he was very important to me, both for my piano training and as a composer.
Brahms loved Italy so much.
The trips he made had a positive impact on Brahms the composer; in fact, in Brahms' production, "an explosion of melodies" and "a new impetus".
Brahms visited all of Italy, but was particularly impressed by Sicily, especially Taormina and Agrigento, whose "indescribable beauty" he praised in a letter to Clara Schumann.
He visited Naples, fascinated by Vesuvius; Tuscany and its rolling hills, the banks of the Arno River, the cypresses and olive groves of Fiesole.
The Maestro loved Italian culture and art, especially the Renaissance, which he liked because in it, the content and form, are completely harmonized, and for the attention he shows, to "every detail": Michelangelo, Titian, Raphael and Parmigianino.
He had so much admiration and esteem for Italian composers, such as: Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Domenico Scarlatti, Luigi Cherubini, Niccolò Paganini, Gioacchino Rossini, Vincenzo Bellini and Giuseppe Verdi.
He was then so enchanted by the expressiveness of the Bolognese singer Alice Barbi, an extraordinary interpreter of his "Lieder", that he declared: "It could not be sung better! Do with my Lieder what you like".
