I had no cleaning products and had company coming the next day. I didn't want to use vinegar. Broke out the ZOTE, that I had shaved down. Just a little in hot, hot water and wiped down EVERYTHING, followed by a dry cloth. OMG! The smell and it removed that icky, greasy dirt we tend to get. I left to get my food and came back and I swear my house smelled cleaned and LOOKED cleaner! I've been doing it ever since.

Did you know Zote also makes it in a flake form? It's sold by the regular laundry soaps in my local Walmart. That is the only product I use anymore for my laundry. Smells wonderful and no additional chemicals. Bottled laundry detergent is mostly water anyway. Why not go directly to the actually cleaning ingredient! That is what I tell people all the time. With liquid detergent, you are paying for water and then paying more for the plastic container it comes in. Plus buying extra additives and chemicals to keep the liquid the right color, smell, and consistency. But people swear that liquid detergent cleans better. It defies common sense, since your washer can put hot water on the clothes and the clothes get thoroughly agitated in the washer. Powder or grated solids are going to become liquid soap anyway.
@nickys5578Ай бұрын
@@lisalapoint7022 well most people use too much soap in their laundry and that leaves soap on the cloth and that attracts dirt faster but those ate the same people using a WHOLE CAP instead of the actual tested (you gotta look at patients) 1-2 table spoons. now most laundry detergent is a DETERGENT not a SOAP yes there is a difference. and people act like they are the same and do the same things.
@anastasia10017Ай бұрын
I am a soap maker. There is nothing unusual at all about soap being made with animal fat. In fact, that is how most soaps were made traditionally. Hunters used the animal fats from their kill, farmers used the animal fats from whatever animal they butchered for food. And FYI, the soaps you buy in the store are mostly not real soap -- they are actually detergents. During WW2, a German scientist discovered detergent and since the oils needed to make soap were rationed and used by the military during the war, the detergent became common in "soap" manufacturing. After WW2 , the soap manufacturers continued to use detergents because much cheaper than using oils. If you read the labels of the soaps available in your store, you will see they are labeled "beauty bar". or "cleansing bar". because by law, they are not soap.

If the label says soap, then it's soap and probably made mostly from animal fats. If the label says shower bar, it's a detergent made mostly with petroleum derivatives. Zote isn't special because it uses tallow, as most commercial soaps do, but it is a useful and economical soap, and soap is better than detergent sometimes. Putting all that in a bowl for the socks is a silly way to waste soap. Wetting either the garment or soap bar and rubbing it on the soil or stain is still effective, and you can help that out more with a little rub on a small plastic washboard.

I love knowing this about it I've been using it as a soak to remove burnt on popcorn that just makes it lift off with no difficulty just makes little pieces of it in hydrogen peroxide and let it sit till it dissolves, it will thicken into a gel-like substance that you can pour into a hand pump and then squirt onto your dishes, as a presoak. It's the best thing I've ever used for burnt on food etc. I also use that for a spot treater. You don't have to boil it. Just grate it and add to straight 3 % hydrogen peroxide work with the soap to peroxide ratio till you get the consistency you like you want it to be pretty thick though but still where it'll pump out in a hand soap dispenser.

I hate to kill the vibe with facts, but: The Environmental Working Group (EWG) rates Zote Pink Laundry Soap as having some health concerns, including some risk of cancer and asthma or respiratory issues. While the white is safer, it is still considered toxic and not recommended for skin contact. I LOVE Tallow in general. I use it as a face cream which has just about cleared all of my sun spots on my face. And I use as an overall moisturizer in the winter with a drop of a clean oil to balance the dairy like smell of the tallow. It does wonders to bring out the color in my tattoos. But all these other ingredients making up the bar soap?

Works awesome for handwashing stains from baby poop on clothes when their diaper explodes.
