I love how the 'trailer' for the movie was basically its best possible scene. It's enough to understand how special the movie really is! I am a fan of the corresponding scene in the remake as well.

Among the gang of great character actors, don't forget about future Oscar winner Jack Albertson as the postal worker who gets the brilliant idea to send all the letters to Santa to the courthouse.

I really like the moment with the little Dutch girl as well, and the corresponding scene in the 1994 version where the little girl is deaf.

I agree with Alonzo on the remake. It's really good as a stand alone, but next to the original it's just good. It's still worth seeing. That Dutch girl fact is so sweet. I never knew that!

I love this movie so much, my dad has it memorized and we go back and forth with the quotes from it. I love William Frawley and the Judge (the actor is stubbornly escaping me at the moment!) and the whole court scene its so hilarious! I am only in my 20s, but my family raised me on these old movies and so I know them very well and many times I prefer them. I watch you Ben too, on TCM! Its the only channel my grandmother really watches other than the news. Great work on there!

Weirdly enough I think I watched the remake of Miracle on 34th Street which I remember had this period feeling do to the cloths but I can't remember if it was meant to be in modern times or night. That be said I kind of like the original more than the remake. It just feels more in tune.

The reason this movie has lasted is that it doesn't insult the adult intelligence. At the end of the film, "is he or isn't he" is left up to viewer. By the way, Ben....politics has nothing to do with it.
