One of the best holiday movies ever! I was revisiting the movie over Thanksgiving weekend on Disney Plus.

Ludicrous that during the segment Jacobson did not mention/utter the name of the male lead, John Payne…NOT ONCE. Payne, usually know for acting in Westerns, did an admirable job as O’Hara’s love interest. The look on his face at the end of the film is priceless and memorable. Naturally, Gwynn stole the show but there were clearly four main characters. Why totally omit one? smh!

He was a lovely light romantic lead and could do comedy. Underrated actor period.
@djtdub1 Жыл бұрын
John Payne also acted in some of the most hardboiled crime film noir ever (I've seen one) and westerns. He was versatile but had a sketchy personal life. (Who didn't?)
@johnfd0210 Жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing. Certainly his role (screen time and as in importance) was equal to Maureen O'Hara. Who noticed versatile Gene Lockhart as the judge in a couple of the scenes shown?

Great movie indeed. Sadly I was too young to appreciate it 20 years ago when my great-uncle gave me its VHS for Christmas. Back then, all I cared about movie-wise was Star Wars and other blockbusters, so I never even watched the video my uncle got me. I've since become a fan of Golden Age movies like this one too thanks to TCM and other similar networks.

i'm a Subt teacher and i am in this Kindergarten class room with 28 children. They don't listen to me when i'm alone in the classroom with them. They run around, get out of their chair, talk to other students. I have no control of the class and sometimes these children hurt themselves and fall. What can I do to get them to listen to me and take back control of the class?

Jeremiah Chapter 10: 3For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. 5They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. 6Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might. 7Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee. 8But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities.
