Whats your rod and reel set up here ? Ive been using a float setup on this river using maggots as bait ive yet to try using a lure
@RobCardIV6 ай бұрын
Caught my very first fish last week. 40cm mullet. its near a harbor, but in a big city river. not sure if its safe to eat or not. I think i spoiled myself. my first fish was 40 cm, although mullet are quite long and skinny. my next fish is probably going to disappoint ! haha we have a fish that looks like sheepshead here also. im hoping for one of those next. i know where to find wild 2cm crabs for bait. even in nagoya japan.

I see the Fox Rage micro spikey on your line. Already know you're gonna catch fish. Probably something decent too. Those lures are great. I bought MANY packs of them a few years back. Glad I did stock up on them too - can't find the 8 packs of single patterns they used to sell 😢 You can still get the UV multipacks though by the looks of it.
@DanGoesFishing Жыл бұрын
First year I've used the 4cm ones and I'm loving them! Yeah I brought a few extra packs after a few sessions of using them, definitely don't want to be without now 😂

Hello love the video was looking for some advice I am doing very similar fishing to you in this video and have been having problems with my line snapping too easily even thought it is 20lbs braid I have ordered some 50lbs braid but I don't know if that is too much or still to weak. I obously don't want it to be to heavy to cast tiny little 4cm jigs. Thank you and please keeping making these awesome videos.
@DanGoesFishing Жыл бұрын
Thank you appreciate it! And that's strange 20lb braid is more than strong enough for small jig fishing, I use 50lb for my heavy pike set up (casting 100g lures) I would check where the braid is breaking. If it's breaking at the point youre tying it then check your knots, I use a half blood knot. If it's breaking in random places along the line then check your rod rings they may have sharp points thats damaging your line, but yeah 20lb is more than strong enough I wouldn't go any heavier, also I use daiwa J-braid X8 hope this helps!
@yasinozkaran44172 ай бұрын
Hello sir, I am a beginner. Can I ask you a question? Can you tell me how to choose the right jighead weight?
@DanGoesFishing2 ай бұрын
Hey! no problem, there's no perfect answer to this, as a rough guide it depends how deep your fishing and how fast you need the bait to get the bottom. However, you then need to balance that out with the weight that the rod can cast and then the fish that you're after. As an example I was fishing for pike recently on a 6 foot deep later, 12cm shad and a 10g jig head (10-40g rod) also don't forget the weight of the shad itself. Id definitely try not to go to heavy though as I believe a slower sink gets more bites. Hope this helps!

@DanGoesFishing Жыл бұрын
Wow didn't know that! Yeah a lot of people tell me the rivers have deteriorated especially with big pike it seems 😔
@curveusa512 Жыл бұрын
This is the same with the river I fish, I live in Scotland.Trout fishing ain’t the same as it use to be at the river because of big pike reaching areas after floods & poachers still come and go, I caught a 15lb sea trout not far back at the river where pike can’t really get to. salmon & trout camp there and use it to spawn. That sea trout has put up a better fight than my pb pike out the river which is 28lb on a spinner 👍
