That was fantastic. For me and many of my friends here in Okinawa, Miriam Makeba remains a symbol of hope for everyone who stands up against war and colonial occupation. I want to sing about and celebrate her wonderful influence.

It always hurts to hear her say that Hugh wrote the song for her, though Mama Africa was the godmother of my oldest daughter... Still today I receive royalties for the song and to make it clear it was written by Hugh Masekela and my late husband Stanley Kwesi Todd

This song reminded me of some bad memories of what I witnessed happening to some the children when I lived in Liberia just before the war. But it is beautifully and it is important like Mama Afrika says "forgive but never forget". Bless you Mr. Sehume for uploading this. Is there an uninterrupted version (without the narrative) of this performance or similar anywhere?? Thanks.

This is the most incredible version of this song, but i have no idea where to buy this live version from. South Africa is free, now we must free Palestine!

Is it possible to upload the song without the speaking interruptions? This is arguably the best version of Soweto Blues I've heard anywhere and it would be nice to isolate the vocals.

WE ONLY FORGIVE THOSE WHO HAVE AND CAN CHANGE FOR THE BETTER. THE MUST PROVE CHANGE BY TRUE REPARATIONS. THESE WERE FORCED OUT OF SOUTH AFRICAN POWER YET THEY STILL CAUSE TROUBLE THERE AND ALL OVER THE BLACK WORLD. BLACKS ARE TOO QUICK TO FORGIVE NO!!!
