@21350ctw if you listen to the lyrics the song is about a guy spending a night on a date with this girl, all the while they're deeply infatuated for one another and care for one another. Somehow she get's hit by a car "supposedly" and hence the end of the song she dies, and he says that although goodbye's are cheap, she meant everything to him.
