I've been on 15mg for 4 weeks now. Mainly for anxiety but also because other antidepressants gave me a bad side effect. For the 1st week I was really jumpy for some reason but that went away. Over all I'm loving the effects of these, I sleep alot better I feel calm and happy and don't over think things like I would have normally. My appetite is great and 1 strange thing I'm honestly loving is the crazy dreams lol. Wish everyone the best of luck with them

Wow! I wished more doctors would cover what you just did. I've been on Mirtazapine for over five years (War Veteran/Severe PTSD). I've never received the side effect information which you provided which many apply to me. The VA loves to hand out meds like candy....seriously!.....most people don't complain because in most cases, the meds work but more importantly, it's free. I personally liked Clonidine. It relaxes me and causes drowsiness but has little side effects (at least in my case.) However, I also take Clonazepam to reduce anxiety. Clonazepam and Clonidine do not react well with one another (at least according to the information I've seen). Keep the vids coming. I enjoy them.

Combat veteran. 30 years in to PTSD. Been thru the common psych meds and started Mirtazapine maybe 8 months ago. It works really great. Not staring at walls and counting seconds. I can fall asleep at night without much effort. BAD part is the weight gain. And bad timing. I went sedentary when COVID hit. I weighed 190 lbs for probably 20 years (I'm 6'0). Then gained 15 lbs in COVID weight. And now up to 235 after Mirtazapine. I accept responsibility for not exercising. I have a VA nutritionist that has been helping. She suggested that I play word games on my tablet while watching TV (which is where I've been binge-eating). The word games have almost eliminated my snacks. I've cut down on my meal portions but still keeping the weight on. I think if I want to stay on Mirtazapine, I'm going to have to go super hardcore workouts. Walking and cycling doesn't cut it.

I just wanted to point out that Remeron can be Rx’d for social anxiety & PTSD. Best candidates are those who have failed SSRI, SRNI, or other more common antidepressants, have trouble sleeping and or eating. I had suffered needlessly for 5 years failing standard drug therapy unable to sleep and had lost almost #30 in a year. I was skin and bones by the time my doctor suggested it. Mirtazepine gave me my life back. I got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in middle school with no fam history. I ended up having a semi-alive pancreas and was a type 1 pre diabetic. I was 120lbs as a result and was 6 foot 2. This medication allowed me to eat more and gain 30lbs. Also, regulated my depression. Fixed so many ailments. It's not addiction, it's dependence. If it's improving the quality of your life then it's for the better. I hope you're still having success with it, and if you've changed medication then I hope that's working well. There's no shame in being dependent on a prescription medication if the therapeutic effects are in the patients eyes worth it. I'm dependent on my escitalopram to keep my compulsive thoughts and anxiety at ease, I'm dependent on my pregabalin to keep me out of debilitating pain, and I'm dependent on my ritalin to keep my ADHD in check.

This is for anyone struggling with chronic insomnia, it can get better trust me. I ended up developing chronic insomnia after a heath scare and didn’t sleep for close to a month straight. I tried every natural medicine and also tried hydroxine and thc. Nothing worked. I eventually found Cbti and started following the protocol as strict as possible. Months went by and I saw improvements but still only slept 2-3 hours a night. It took me 6 months of retraining my mind. I’m happy to say today I sleep better now than I did before my insomnia started. I hope this gives someone out there hope as I know i was In the same position as most of you researching this drug and many others as a last resort. If anyone has questions I’d be happy to help.

I have been on this drug for roughly 5 years now. I have taken other antidepressants but this one worked best for me. I’m on 15mg and was bumped up too the highest but I had heart palpitations from it. Before I was on this, I was a size 4 maybe 6 before I was on this and now I’m a size 12. I’ve tried to come off of it and as soon as I do I can’t sleep or eat. Only till I tried to come off of this did I realise how dependent I am on it. It does help my depression but now im more depressed because I’ve never gained this much weight before and feel very over weight although I understand im not but I’ve never been this size in my life. I’m 25. I do recommend for people who want to stop smoking weed because it helps with the sleeping side of things. Just be careful if you don’t want to gain weight.

Edit: I guess the question applies for the both of you 🙏 Buspirone is used for the short-term and long-term treatment of anxiety disorders or symptoms of anxiety. Please do not take this poison, please meditate and practice mindfulness. This is dangerous, this might help u with insomnia but it has range of side effects that r not worth ignoring, it caused me severe joint injuries, excess fatigue, it increases cholesterol and block arteries , increase appetite in some ppl. Please research on neuroplasticity and law of attraction . Our brains can change its structure based on what we feed regularly. We have capacity to cure insomnia and depression from practicing mindfulness and affirmations. This might sound funny but we are extremely adaptive. Like how u can grow muscle from going to gym, u can grow grey matter in your brain and increase serotonin levels naturally from giving exercise to your mind. We dont have second thoughts when we are told abt going to gym, but we instantly feel its bulshit when we are told about meditation and mindfulness. Meditation is not magic, its just excercising your brain like u doi for body. I suffered chronic insomnia for more than 3 years and suffered depression, suicidal thoughts and even planned before. I hit rock bottoms several times and i was in pain. I took these medications for sleep and it was giving sleep but i suffered fatigue and injuries. I wasn't able to go to gym after getting injuries. I suffered severe acne from lamotrigine given for bipolar depression , the lorazepam given for anxiety was losing its power because its like alcohol , we become tolerant after certain point and it was no giving sleep and they gave mirtazapine for sleep. It can cause weight gain , fatigue and injuries. These medications r more harmful than beneficial, i researched on how scientists discovered that practicing mindfulness , affirmations and meditation changed the structure of brain. I started doing it sincerely and continuously. My life is transforming everyday and i m getting better and better. I want you to believe in yourself and make a change in your lifestyle , see what happens

My doctor recently stopped prescribing Lunesta. It’s a great meditation that had no noticeable side effects and was excellent for insomnia. He then prescribed Trazodone, which did not help with insomnia, and the side effects were awful. They included feeling confused and unbalanced for 2-3 days after taking it. After telling him about the side effects, he prescribed Mirtazapine. If only he prescribed Lunesta, all would have been fine. I take this medication and I always feel hungry. The trick to not gaining a bunch of weight is not to eat just because you feel hungry, your brain may be telling you it's time to eat but in reality your body actually doesn't not require any food. I only eat at meal times and don't snack in between no matter how hungry I feel. And when I do eat I eat as healthy as possible and exercise as much as possible. To me it's worth the benefits this medicine does for me.

Hi, I was taking 7.5 mg of mirtazapine for nearly 3 months but it was making me very groggy in the morning so I switched to trazodone a couple of weeks ago. I crosstapered for only 5 days, 3,75 mg of mirtazapine and 25 mg of trazodone then I upped trazodone to 50 mg and stopped the mirtazapine. About 5 days later I started to have bouts of light dizziness and slight nausea. I am also having sweaty palms and sometimes feeling off. I also take escitalopram for GAD and depression. Can the symptoms I am describing be withdrawal of mirtazapine? Can it be the side effects of trazodone? Can it be that the dose of escitalopram is now too high? ( I started 3 months ago with 10 mg and upped to 20 mg about 2 months ago)

An increase of only 25 mg shouldn't cause anything like that. I started with 50 mg and fluctuated up to 150 mg depending on how the anxieties are that day. Though my base is 50 mg and no issues but sleep.

@@debbietaylor20 mirtazapine only ends in weight gain in 1/6 people, also - it’s not weight from nowhere. It just might make it so that you’re hungry, but that isn’t making you gain weight Exactly. Also I’m almost positive it doesn’t increase cholesterol. In this video he said 15%. don’t go too deep into the side effects. I generally only read the “common” side effects on medications I take. When you start going down the list onto the 1-15% margins it’s a bit ridiculous as you can take paracetamol every day and be fine, then one day develop an allergic reaction to it and die lol, so it seems a bit absurd to obsess x

I was prescribed this to help with severe insomnia. 15mg did absolutely nothing, cut down to 7.5 and 5mg the sedative effect kicks in. But it still took me 1-2h to really fall asleep, and considering the heavy side effects (headache, nausea, violent reactions) I stopped the first week. Terrible drug I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Having tried almost any available sleeping pill, I can tell you the only one working for me has been quarter pills of 7.5mg Imovane. But had to cut off after taking it for every single night over a year. Will return to it occasionally after sleepless nights.
