Those little Hoyt rests are very good. When I was an archer I would carry a spare during shoots. The original bear weather rests that can sometimes be found on vintage 76ers are also one of my favorites. They just work great.

Of my six recurve bows, three I shoot off the shelf (rug rest) and the other three I use the Bear Weather rest and the NAP Center rest that I purchased from a shop that was closing so I have a couple of spares in case of failure. I shoot split finger no sight or stabilizer. Though one of my bows is a ILF takedown I do not use a cushion plunger. With the NAP rest, I measured the rest so if I have to replace, I can set up the rest. Greg I must have missed the bow you were using. When I was shopping for an ILF takedown some of the shops suggested some rather expensive rests, stabilizers and sights. It was explained the I would need a stabilizer to reduce/eliminate bow vibration which I have not noted on any of my bows. I have been following your postings regarding string walking and I am going to try it.

Maybe we can get together and shoot at Gotham next year. I picked up a bare bow set up during Covid and never really give it much thought after that.

You say you don't like the grip, that it doesn't feel right. Have you looked into getting another grip that fits your style better. I was having the same trouble with mine, it just didn't feel comfortable. I went to an archery shop and tried several different grip shapes until I found one that suited my style. Just something to think about.

Yes I did. Pretty hard to make a decision when you do not have one to try first. So I bought one the looked like it might be comfortable. Being left handed doesn't help either, took three weeks to get a rest!

Good job. 👏

I'm left handed also so I know the problems. There is a video by Jake Kaminski showing how to build your own grip. Very interesting and not to difficult to do. I modified the grip I had a bit and it works great. @@3DArchery

Greg - have you taken slow mo pictures of your arrows leaving the bow? I just watched your release and am wondering. I saw something I didn't like.

So is the moral of the story. If you are a beginner. Do NOT start out with barebow?
