I have tried finger slings but I prefer a wrist sling personally. Much quicker to get in and out of, less restrictive and you might be able to reset the Zniper with the left hand. An old flat shoe lace or I prefer an old lanyard string (flat shape) works great. Mounted near or around the main stabeliser bushing. I like to have adjustable slip knots on both ends looping around the main weight. Or if possible one of the end loops (on the finger side) to kind of use a cow hitch knot system through the riser. This helps to not loose the string when you take your weight off. I say finger side because the slip knot on the right side is easy ish to adjust with the right hand on the fly if you need to. Some thoughts at setting your crawl 1) yes, on your tab hand, you can press your thumb against the string after you set your crawl to prevent the tab from slipping as you raise your bow and let go right before you draw 2) Power grip is definitely better for less slipping 3) when you set your tab at the top, make sure it's bumping up against the bottom of the arrow nock rather than the lower nocking point and that will be a more consistent placement before crawling down rather than starting from the bottom nock which can move. Also, stackable weights haven't been a problem as far as I've seen and shot

I took all the weight off Mt Zenit and have just a weight at the bottom fixing bolt and I use a fairweather tab. It really centred my shots, I'm using my bow outdoor for field 👍

I use a rope or climbing tape sling thru the holes in the bottom of the riser, if all I want to do is not drop the bow, it's not good for my form but it is easy and convenient !

260 is a great score (actually my goal) my bow arm is not rock solid like yours! Hitting high for me is much better than dropping out low... if I hit high it is usually at least in the red but drop one low and watch out!

Jake try some 0.21 mono serving then you can use it to count servings up or down close up shots about two servings per yard longer past about 30 yards its about 1.5 yrds per serving !

Jake two suggestions for higher score: Shoot more arrows per end and shoot a larger target :). Great shooting out of the box. Scoring 260 is not bad many people wished they could shoot that. Not coming out of the red is outstanding. Even the best occasionally find blue. Good luck on your journey.

AFAIK, stackable weights are prohibited in Barebow. At least here, in Russia, they are (under WA rules). About the center serving - I've used BCY Powergrip for the last few months and it works great. Hold really tight, no slips were noticed. Btw, decent shooting.

Hello Jake congratulations for yours videos, that are always very useful. I would like to ask you for advice. My fovourite sport is archery. I have bought a black Smartriser for 25’’. The limbs are 66” and 30’’. Before this, I utilised a hoyt with the same limbs. My problemi is: The proof of the plucked rods, that I made to do the nocking point, was good, because, in this way, I was able to group all the plucked shafts (with the wheelies to the same height.) In this way, the result is that all the shafts hits the mark 15 cm on the right. To make an experiment, I closed the spring (to be nearer at the mark) but all the shafts are always to much on the right. I use arrows from the spine of 640, the arrowhead is 80 grams. For the limbs I use the same tiller. The brace is a little shorter because, in this way, the release of the rope is faster. I don’t understand because all the arrows goes on the right. With my old hoyt, wich I have regulate in the same way, I had not this problem. Thank you for all the suggestion you can give to me. Jake, with respect to the barebow weights, it should be fine. If you're feeling paranoid, tack them together with some welds. Serving Material, I like Diamondback/Flex #4 Max Evo, which seems a bit more grippier than the normal serving thread.

Look at the nock in height of nose, it does not move when you string walk, though you move your anchor the same time at opposite direction, that keep you with high hits

It was because the bottom nocking point was slipping down, allowing the arrow to move down slightly.

@@JakeKaminskiArchery yes, could be, but thats not matter that much when you stringwalk, measured from bottom nocking point. Check where you nock is touching your nose, it does not change(in my view from beginning of video to later) when you string walk, as it should, reason either you move your hand or lift your head a bit, the brain want to have the same place, so it try to solve "the error" you do when string walk, common mistake for new bb-archers, even if good archer.

Hello Jake. Iam coming from pistol shooting and I started archery shooting 2 months ago. I really like it. I’m following your videos and I‘m trying to consider everything in my almost daily training session. I made good progress. I am struggling with my release. Only approximately 20 % releaseswith a good feeling. I watched this video and especially your right hand. in one of your videos you mentioned that the biggest load should be on the index finger. In the actual scenes in the beginning of this video your middle finger is bent more than the index finger. At least it looks like that. Is the load distribution a fixed thing? Even with string walking? I would feel more comfortable with having the highest portion of the string load on the middle finger. Dont understand me wrong. You know what your doing. Iam in the beginning.

Could you put a small piece of 18ga Stainless under the edge of the grip to use as a grip sear? The softer handle material would wear over time, where steel would not and keep finger placement consistent over time. Not sure exactly how the rules are written on that.

Do most good bare-bow recurve archers shoot the single face target for NFAA or USA Archery World Archery Indoor 40cm face or do they shoot the vertical 3 or the 5 spot? I know those triple and 5 are generally shot by good compound shooters and Olympic-style Recurve shooters.

Hi Jake, I’ve been enjoying your videos and extensive knowledge when it comes to recurve and especially barebow. I noticed on this video that you had an issue with shooting high even after making adjustments. I started watching your release hand and noticed that on your high shots, the backwards movement of that hand travelled slightly higher through the release. I could even block the targets from my vision and be able to tell if your shot was going to be high or centred. Just thought it may help.

@@Hybridesque The world archery regulations allows "dirt and wear/usage" coloration on the tab markings. "Wear marks" on the serving is basically the same thing. Not that it is particularly beneficial anyway, as using the tab should be just as accurate and repeatable.

I can understand that the string walking technique is used when you have to shoot from different distances, such as hunting, 3d parcours ... But if you are training for a competition in which the distance is invariable, 20 yards, what is the point? Wouldn't it be better to tune the bow for that distance with your fingers just below the nocking point? Wouldn't it be much more accurate and repeatable than string walking?

i was shocked when i shot 50m for the first time last summer. i am a total noob and shot 10-18m only for the first half year of my archery jouney and shot 18m score between 230 and 250 in the end. joined a club to be able to shootall distances and for the permission to take part in competitions. barebow is 18m indoor and 50m outdor so i started to shoot 50 m and th results where absolut terrible, needed a new anchor and stronger limbs to even reach 50 m.... practicly starting new ... slipping in a 7 at 18m translates to a diviation of 2 foot at 50 m!!! distance is a terrible magnifier for inconsistency. it is challanging, especialy for a newcommer to archery like me.

I’m in no way an expert. But, I’m thinking that when you lose, the string is snapping a spin in the string and making your adjustable nock point turn and move up. 🤷🏻‍♂️ again, I’m not sure, just a guess

@@JakeKaminskiArchery Gotcha. I competed in the Lancaster Classic in "20 and actually made the cut to the shoot-ups. Lost in the first round to the Italian gentleman who eventually finished fourth. Had an absolutely fantastic time. This was my first ever competition outside my club. After my loss, I was walking away when I was stopped by some compound shooters. One of them asked why barebow shooter always look so happy even when they lose. I had just told them I had been eliminated. So I just said that when you guys miss the X, your day is ruined, but when we barebow shooters hit the X, it makes our day. They laughed but a couple said that they are definitely going to look into barebow. A very revealing few minutes. Barebow is on the rise big time.

i am not aware of such rule but i can see why it might exist: that crisscross pattern could be used to draw as consistant as a klicker, draw till a speciffic pattern on the arrow meets a speciffic point on the riser or better, the arrowrest=absolut consistant drawlength=illegal. consistant drawlength is my biggest problem as a barebow shooter

English is not my native language, and perhaps I wasn't clear enough, I'm not saying that there is a specific rule against this "front cresting" (not al least in WA Rules), what I'm saying is that there should be one. I agree with Mr. Kaminski, people who string walk can't see those marks at full draw, but what about someone who anchors under the chin? that person could find those marks useful in many ways, specially in field competitions.

I try to imagine tucking my bow-arm scapula into my back pocket when I raise my bow if that makes any sense. When I activate my back and feel my bow-arm scapula it really helps me keep my shoulder down.

I dont believe bare shaft tuning is that crucial. For instance in this video your first 4 arrows you shot were 9,10,10,10. And then you made a bunch of adjustments and you shot worse. I'm a big believer of group tuning. I've seen many pros group tune and shoot quarter size groups and then shoot through paper and have a huge left or right tear.

For tune purposes. For barebow people run many different arrow lengths to get different point on or crawl amounts. It’s not really complicated but a lot of factors including tune is involved to optimize an arrow that works for the game you are shooting.

@@JakeKaminskiArchery Been shooting a Zniper since they came out. Took it off my indoor bow last week. For whatever reason could not get it adjusted right. If it fell with the shot it would not support the arrow at rest. If it supported the arrow at rest it would not fall on shot. I made very small moves on my adjustment screw.

What's the weight difference between your bare shafts & vaned shafts? Because your bare shaft should impact higher if they are lighter.
