Hey Jess. When I'm not teaching or singing, I'm a lighting designer. I light productions: plays, music, dances. My one constant over the past 20+ years is lighting The Nutcracker, now for a second company, in Ann Arbor. I make it possible for the audience to see the dancers, and I try to enhance the look, the story, and the feel of the show. And nobody really notices what I do. It's sort of a secret!

As a photographer and videographer, I definitely noticed the light! In one piece, when Clara was sleeping and the mice were coming out, we was still spotlit in such a beautiful way while the rest of the stage was lit to emphasis the dream state. It was lovely.

When we lived in Columbia back in the mid 90s we lived a few blocks from 5 Points and used to hang out there all the time. It was a cool place to be back then too! Lots of great eating and drinking establishments and awesome shops. Fun!

❤Thanksgiving eve and I’ve spent 3 days prepping food for a brunch (all day feast). I also took off work this week to volunteer at the animal shelter, which has been fun! I plan on an easy going eat as it comes out day with family, watching a parade on tv, dog show on tv, board games (rain hinders walking) and decorating for Christmas. Whatever makes happy memories is always welcome on vacation week!😊

My family does Thanksgiving dinner on Friday, so I travel tomorrow to my parents' home. I will then work with them to get prep done. We are doing a pantry challenge and pulling things out that will work nicely for each meal this weekend. The 'to buy list' was fairly short, which was a fantastic feeling.

My daughter is upstairs right now crafting nails with a Nutcracker theme to wear to a performance in a couple of weeks - they are really great so far and include a nutcracker and a sugarplum fairy. I believe that shedding and growing hair is triggered in animals by day lengthening and shortening. The days are shorter in the higher latitudes in the winter than down south, so those animals tend to grow thicker coats while those farther south will thicken up a bit, but not as much.

I planted a seed the beginning of September, a 55 day variety. Turns out it's not the flower on the packet of seeds. I used to take all of my foster daughters to the Nutcracker every year. It was the highlight of our holiday season. But it was hard for me to decide what to focus on, the stage or the precious faces of little girls, enthralled by ballerinas. One of those little girls went on to join the Humboldt Light Opera and sang the intermissions of all of the ballet performances. So she got the best of both musical options. I have had such a blessed life. And… prayers said and fingers crossed, I might be about to start a new chapter of my life, as a small homesteader. I have been looking for a small property in east TN that I could afford for 5 years. I have a list of features that the house must have and zoning that would let me have a guard Turkey and 6 Chickens. I couldn’t find any place that had the “must haves” let alone the “would be nice to have” features. Nothing that I could afford. But Monday I had a very upsetting and painful conversation with my Puerto Rican neighbor and his blonde haired, blue eyed wife. He’s actually a good friend, and he was giving me a warning that I could not be the outgoing person that God created me to be and stay alive in this neighborhood. Especially since the election. I voted for the side that won and my neighbors voted for the other side. He told me there is talk that the last time one of the neighbors gave me an eviction notice. I laughed. I own this house, free and clear. No one has the right to evict me. And the government commission on hate crimes, agrees with me and let that neighbor know that she can’t go up to somebody else’s house and tell them they have 13 days to move or else! But the neighbors had a beer party on Saturday and the subject of white republicans came up in conversation and it has been decided, that I need to lock myself in my house do not go out in my yard, or on my porch except to get my mail! I an not to talk to anybody. I must have everything delivered and get it inside right away and just basically stop existing outside of my own walls. My friend explained to me that the neighborhood no longer wants any people of any color other than black and that he and his wife, were also going to have to move. He said that I should move too, because if we don’t, they’re going to kill me by setting my house on fire, and if I’m able to get out, they will beat me to death with baseball bats on my front yard. Gee I really love the local Democrats idea about how to unify the country. Just kill or in prison anyone who disagrees with you! Unfortunately, my friend does know what he’s talking about and that is exactly what will happen because that’s what happened during 2020 and we had seven people on our block killed. So I prayed! I told God that I would rather die now than be live under the totalitarian rule of people controlled by evil. I can’t and I won’t submit! So either strike me dead by His own hand or help me leave ASAP!!! And I opened a real estate app and there was only one house for sale in my price range and it not only met ALL of my “must haves” but it met ALL of my “ would be nice to have” list. It is even in a really nice small town that I’ve always wanted to live in. Low crime! More churches than bars! It was not damaged at all by the hurricane. It’s on an acre and a half and my new next-door neighbor raises goats and I’m allowed to have chickens so maybe I can trade her my eggs for goat’s milk. I’ve always wanted to try to make goats cheese. One other offer came in while I was stating my offer. So please pray that they take my offer. It’s time for me to go to where the color of my skin won’t be an issue. I was never raised to be racist and I now have firsthand knowledge of how ugly it is!!!😢 I don’t care if it’s race, sex, religion, personality or politics, NO ONE should be mistreated or threatened for being different. I cannot imagine a more boring world than if everybody was exactly alike and agreed on everything!!! I am lso giving thanks 🙏 for the Israeli-Hezbola peace treaty. On the surface, it sounds like a Win Win agreement. Let’s pray that the rest of Israel‘s enemies will see the light and realize that they are better off living peacefully than committing atrocities. Several of my Spirit filled friends and I have noticed a shift in the spiritual wind in the last few weeks. The level of oppression seems to have diminished a great deal, and it feels as if God‘s Spirit is moving in all directions. I used to be an ordained minister, I have led several people to Christ, but it was always in a church or some type of a meeting setting. Usually when an unbeliever comes into a setting like that it’s because they’re searching. But starting on November 6th I started having complete strangers walk up to me. Start a conversation and have it turn spiritual within the first four minutes. In one day I lead six people through the prayer to accept Christ. Even in a church setting, I’ve not led six people on my own. By the time I got home I was so giddy that I was literally dancing around my living room. And it has been that way ever since. All of my retired ministry friends are all messaging me saying, You won’t believe the incredible day I had!”And my answer has been “I bet I will believe it!” God is moving in a huge way! But Satan will always try to hinder. 😢 Thank God that we know the end of the story!😊

The pumpkins were really on the run 😅 I love The Nutcracker. I took my two youngest when they were 4 and 7, and they loved it. My youngest son started ballet at 4 and when he was 7 he audition for Nutcracker and got Fritz (brother). When he was in high school, he got the part of the Nutcracker. I was so proud of him. My youngest son and my daughter got involved in theater (they did quit a few musicals). Alot of work goes into the shows. Boy do I miss those days and seeing them on stage. My youngest is 32 now. Sweet Jess, Sweet Miah, & Family, 🦃Happy Thanksgiving🦃 I laughed when your pumpkins decided not to stay in the UTV. It's 1015PM, I just finished making homemade cranberries with orange peel. It's cooling on the stove waiting to go in the refigerator. Earlier, I made 2 flan for dessert tomorrow. The first flan decided to run off the plate after flipping my pan. It ended up on the floor, then the trash. The 2nd came out perfect, and stayed on the plate. Pulled sweet potatoes for homemade sweet potato casserole and have all the ingredients ready on the counter, green beans have been cooked with butter and bacon, dinner rolls made by hand, and the spiral ham is set to go in the oven at 1130AM. .Couldn't ask for anything more. Life is good!

Professional ballet dancers have between 9-12 or more years of intense ballet training before joining a company to perform professionally. Even after being a pro, these dancers take a Mon. -Fri. ballet class. Big time athletes as well as performers. Wishing you all a very happy Thanksgiving.
