If it was pronounced KOR-ay there would be an accent mark over the e. There isn't so it's pronounced KOR. Mako is the name of a type of shark. You also pronounced the name of that ship wrong. It's properly pronounced MAY-ko. Here's hoping you pronounce Calliope properly as ka-LIE-o-pee.

I feel weird every time I hear Ko-Re, yet it's completely consistent with the lore. I've learnt bits and pieces of Japanese over the years, and you do indeed pronounce each phonetic character as it's own syllable. Why is that relavant here? Kore is two japanese sylables. And the company in question is MUSASHI Industrial and Starflight Concern. In other words, MISC is a Japanese company. (this is further confirmed in lore posts about them) So, weird as it is, ko-re is correct, core is not. Then again, when you get japanese names in the west we don't always pronounce them the way japanese people would, so that may not be as relevant as it first appears... Really, call it whatever you like. ;p

12 SCU would put it equal with the current top contender for small ship cargo. The 315p. Of course, the 315p isn't supposed to be a cargo ship, yet in the current meta it's the most capable cargo ship in it's size class. The Reliant Kore feels like it should have 12 SCU as well, given it's claimed status as a 'mini-hauler'. I don't know exactly how they'd do it, but the most obvious choice is to raise the ceiling height so you can double-stack boxes. (which would have other advantages too.) Of course, the real low end cargo ship hasn't shown up yet. The Hull A is supposed to be in this size class, yet takes 80 SCU... But still, for something that is specifically marketed as a cargo ship, the Reliant Kore is a bit silly.

I'm so glad that they made the Reliant series a lot tougher, but it still needs some work. Right now the 315p is a better hauler than the Kore with double the cargo space, much better speed and agility, and it has a BED all for about the same money. If CIG doubles the Kore's cargo capacity, ups it's agility a bit, have it quantum in horizontal mode and make vertical mode for combat, make the cockpit into an ejectable lifepod, and maybe add a couple of fold away bunks in the back so that they don't interfere with cargo when folded away, then the Kore would be a lot of fun to own. To sum up, while CIG has made some much needed improvements to the Reliant line, it still has a ways to go before it would be worth owning.

I've been thinking about it and it would seem as though vertical flight in combat should be better in theory. Due to the fact that players should spray from left to right or right to left. This would suggest you'd take more damage if this were the case.

I love the weirdness to this ship's look and I much prefer a ship with an access ramp to something like my 300i's interior ladder. Makes getting boxes in and out for delivery much easier. Really glad your vids start with a good look at the inside of these ships, hard to tell from the pictures on the website with some of them how they really work. I don't think I could have one without being able to walk around during quantum flight though, I just like to hop up and move a little on those longer trips.

Bed is very useful amenity to have with a buggy game. On multiple occasions I've arrived to buy cargo somewhere just to find an empty terminal screen with no available cargo. I hit the bed in my ship, log out, log back in & a lot times that fixes the whole missing cargo situation.

Yeah, of all the ships I have, I actually like flying my Reliant a lot, but at the same time it has SO many engine overheat issues that I get in no other ship. Flying out of atmosphere at full acceleration (but with g-safe on) 600i: no problem. any 300 series: no problem P-72: easy. Aurora: No trouble Mustang Beta: Oh, this is fine too. Reliant Kore: 'cough' 'cough' what do you want from me master!? (overheats about 6 or 7 times before you get out of atmosphere) There is something seriously wrong with the Reliant's default component setup. I can't think of any ship that struggles the way it does...

When compared to a mustang or Aurora its pretty good. It will out DPS, tank and haul a mustang. Minus the ability to capture people I think its probably the best starter combat/bounty ship out there, save for the handling, but there had to be a give and take for the combat ability. I hope the current cargo bay gets replaced by the tech they are creating for the hull series. It would be awesome to have a mini version of telescoping cargo spindle between cockpit and cargo bay that holds the cargo and then the back pod that currently holds cargo or vehicle can be a dedicated vehicle bay/module access. Maybe the vehicle could be some sort of cargo loader type vehicle. Then you could put the habitation right behind the cockpit setup like the Tana and have everything on the ship for starter pilots.

What you're basically describing is the tana, it trades in 5 of the 6 scu to get 2 beds, a bathroom, 3 gun racks and an armor locker. Plus it also gets 16 extra size 2 missiles in the wings.

Yeah, funny that my suggestion, when they were discussing updating the Kore was to add a bed and a second layer to that cargo bay. I love this weird little ship, but the Titan is better in pretty much every way.

It is nice and thin in horizontal mode. And in vertical mode the cargo back sticks out a bit. By double decking it would not be thin anymore. I would like to see it get 3 rows wide. So a total of 9 scu. In horizontal nothing would change. In vertical it would be a bit wider but it already sticks out the sides as is with the engines being way out there.

I recommend switching to NDB Neutron repeaters. It appears that currently the ballistic shield penetration mechanic doesnt work against npcs for some reason. I would also recommend to switch the Missile racks to Size 1 Missiles and then using the Vanduul Arrow 1 Missiles found on Grimhex. They have a 3.5 km lock on range and give greatly increased overall damage.

The neutron repeater have terrible range. For a ship as slow as this i wouldn't recommend it. For an arrow or a hawk definitely!

having default loadout that has power issues makes this ship struggle. Honestly i feel all starters should have a bed and be able to do between 2-4 different careers so players can figure out what they want to do but not to be anywhere near the best at it but bottom tier. As for advanced starters i think thos are fine to be able to do 1-2 different careers decently(mid to low mid tier). It's too bad the Reliant is split into 4 different ships and not just 1 ship with the rear being modular in my opinion. Also for the reliant series they need to make it so when going into quantum that the ship doesn't have to be in vertical mode(i dislike the vertical mode as it really doesn't serve any real benefit to the ship and your stuck in the seat). great vid, you should do a video comparing all entry starters and maybe another video on advance starters.

I don't know about it's appearance. But in spite of it's handling problems (I can't think of anything that overheats that frequently), I actually love flying it simply because of the view. No other ship in the game that I know of has such a good view from the cockpit. It's especially good when operating near the ground, like say when trying to land back when hover mode was a thing (because you can actually see the spot you're trying to land without tilting the nose and throwing the ship off course), or when searching for something located on the ground. Nothing much else like it in that regard... Even flies better in atmosphere when in horizontal mode (which is what you'd expect aerodynamically)

The reliant core is at the moment the only ship that supports 6x Hardpoints to be fired by the pilot. If you equip those 6 Hardpoints with neutron autocannon and 8x Taskforce 1 Missiles you have one or maybe the most dangerous ship in the game. It is a monster.

I ditched my Reliant Kore when the Origin 135c was introduced as a concept sale. I regularly see folks compare the Kore with the 300 series, but the 135c, an entry level starter ship, has 6 SCU, which means that the "second tier" Kore absolutely fails at its primary role. Oh yeah, the 135c also has a bed.

Awesome review as always Sub! Have you tried a loadout of 6 size 2 shotguns yet? It's a hoot against AI as long as you don't mind up close and personal. I find deleting the two gimbals under the wing to not be a detriment when using auto-gimbal mode. Also, I wholeheartedly agree with you about the cargo bay being 12 SCU capable. I think this would really round the Kore out and make it a definite contender for "best" starter ship. Maybe throw in a few fold down bench seats like the cutlass has for transporting extra passengers and you'd have yourself a cute little dropship too!

The main reliant series fault isn't really the speed, as you say the tankiness and comparable firepower is fine to compensate. It's the drifting, it's soooo drifty, you cannot precision fly the thing without taking its already slow speed and halving it, otherwise just turn your ship and watch your actual direction marker drift right off the screen almost immediately.

I wish the wings just rotated around the fuselage and didn't make the cockpit go vertical as you mentioned. Rather than putting in all the hours to change that, CIG just needs to give the Reliant series the ability to QT while horizontal. Seems like that would be the easy fix. It would even be interesting if they made a QT buff or debuff depending on what flight mode the ship was in. There just really is no benefit to the rotating wings. This wing rotating feature is a real relic of the rule of cool days. Your ship reviews since your hietus have been fantastic. The lore, use of Erkul stats, comparisons, etc are great. Best ship reviews in SC going.

I have the Tana and really enjoy this ship. But i think the Kore is in a bad place. While the other variants have bed, toilet & shower the Kore only has 6 SCU cargo. It really needs 12 to have a reason not to get the Titan or the 300. If you like the Reliant go for one of it's variants. You can upgrade all variants to the same weapon loadout. But beware, the Reliants have shield holes and can easily loose their engines and/or the wings. (including shield and weapon)

I've never seen such a large cargo bay, that carries so little. That ship needs a redesign. New entrance to the cockpit, via a micro lift. Then get rid of the ramp, add cargo lift and treat cargo as a sealed area in flight (like the 300i) you could get alot more cargo in that bay (10-20 SCU looks like a gap for ships with 48 in a cutty and 66 Lancer). Kore should be heavily armoured and shielded, it should be everyman working vessel, like a Ford F150 pickup. As it is, it doesn't do anything well.

Seems like they really need to add a cargo delivery system to the game. Instead of buying 6 scu of Laranite, you would accept a contract and your ship would be loaded with 1-6 scu of random cargo (Self-sealing stem bolts? Yamok sauce?) which you would deliver to another location. It would start out with very low paying contracts but as you rank up you could get to the point where you'd be making say 100,000 bucks an hour? Then just have them available in limited quantities so that it's aimed primarily at small ship pilots.

Sounds like an extension of the delivery missions but with larger quantities of cargo. (current delivery boxes have a volume equivalent to 1/8th of an SCU) I wouldn't mind such missions, honestly. I guess once the cargo decks are a thing on the stations maybe missions like that will be possible, since a lot depends on being able to load cargo in a reasonable manner... I'd say based on what I've seen of commodity cargo hauling right now I'd put the limit for such delivery missions somewhere around the 20 SCU mark. That's purely a money thing. You can't haul anything meaningful right now with low cargo volume. The best 'legal' item I know of has a margin of about 4 UEC per unit (remember 100 units per SCU) under optimal conditions right now. Work this out backwards and to match the lowest end delivery missions is about 1000 units, or 10 SCU, but a high end delivery mission is already double that. Plus this 8000 UEC per run profit for hauling 20 SCU of cargo depends on you hauling something with a value of about 22 UEC per unit, meaning you're risking 44,000 to make 8000. Still, being able to just barely make a moderate profit off of 20 SCU of cargo space by trading commodities, suggests it would be reasonable to have delivery missions for 20 SCU and under... Mmmh. Guess the value of delivery overall could be inversely proportional to how much there is. Small amounts of very valuable things vs larger amounts of less valuable stuff... You would end up having to figure out a way to ensure the larger ships don't just take all the missions at once though, leaving nothing for anyone else...

I do like this ship and been flying it for a while. I I did try the Yellowjacket/Scorpion mix and its great, THOUGH for bigger ships I think it helps the Time to kill by adding Two Laser Repeaters, Two balistic Repeaters, a Yellowjacket, and a Badjer (though keeping booth Balistics S1 would be good!). I had lots of fun with this ship when Upgraded in 3.7/3.8 so now that it has more HP, Its pretty good! (though I upgraded it to a Tana). I think this ship needs to have MOre cargo capacyty (especially when you look at ships like the Titan and 300i that are cheaper AND have 2 more SCU. The similarly priced 315p has 12SCU! so... Yeah. I think it needs more cargo. Maybe CIG can make it Double stack cargo? (also I'd like it to be able to keep the horizontal flight mode while on quantum travel. If you get out of the cockpit while on Vertical mode you die! Its a Good fun little ship, but Maybe the Titan is a better buy for most people (I choose to go with the "more difficult ugly duck" which I find to be a pretty good looking ship.

Disadvantage for this startership is that it lacks beds, toilet and a shower. So it's a relative short-range hauler as they put it, and so it's not a "home" startership. While even the Tana has a bed, makes it more viable for longer missions. But 1 SCU of cargo is like not really a cargo for stuff other than normal supplies, medkits, food supplies. Or a boxes if you're running missions. And it lacks a kitchen for it to be truely a home. All other starter ships has at least a bed, while the Kore is the only one that doesn't? It's sad to see. Guess you could transport a bed, and that way have what you need? :D

Kore does have a turret though, a really 2. Or is remote turret not counted in your comparisons? Co-pilot controls both turrets if someone is sitting in that seat. I put lasers under my wings just to help a bit with shields on the enemy since the gattlings have such low alpha damage through the shields. The reliants need 2 of the thermal or better. That is the only way I can go full AB and not let off in space. Bitching Betty is blaring the whole way but she keeps accelerating.

Im getting in to the game soon, and lately ive been set on the Avenger Titan, although this ship seems like another good idea. Is one better than the other? the titan has more cargo space, but this one seems a bit better perfomance wise.

This has slightly more more damage but is slower. I would say the titan is better but it's close enough either way its not a bad choice.

slower in SCM but faster max speed. I think it is more maneuverable than Titan also. Everytime I got into my Kore I was happy. Just something about it feels good. Had a Titan and the cockpit and overall feel of the ship is just outdated feeling. Now I upgraded to the Tana and like the bed option and Titan or Kore really doesn't ha e the scu to haul much except some drugs. But drugs take hours to sell even 6 scu. Now with Tana I have 20 s2 missiles which is unmatched by anything up to a freelancer MIS.

What is the benefit of the ship rotating? why not let it stay in the flat position as the ship works just fine that way? besides the front cross section is slightly smaller as the engines are inline with the wings.

Definitely more B-wing than Slave 1. B-wing has weird cockpit rotation and normally flies vertically except for landing. B-wing has guns at the end of it's wings, and several more closer to it's core body, with missiles near the core as well. As a fighter, a B-wing is slow (not in the X-wing game, but in regular lore), but heavily armed and armoured, which the reliant can sort of match in upgraded form. This thing is clearly a B-wing that trades some fighting ability for cargo space...

All turrets are controlled by the pilot. If the co-pilot accesses one of the 2 on the wings then he can control just one of them. Does this make sense?

Thanks for the vid Sub, love these run downs. I can't play until I get my computer upgraded, but love messing around with configurations. Just wondering about a ships EM rating, does it make a difference? With your loadout the EM is 20,327, but with WEB shields and Slipstream powerplant the EM is 1,595. Does that even mean anything in the game yet? Is stealth a thing, or is that something that players are still waiting for? Seems like it would be cool to set up a ship for stealth.

I had assumed since a long time ago it was a stealth thing, but people with stealth ships seem to say otherwise. You can put any ship into 'stealth' mode by going into either the power or heat UI (Forget which) and selecting 'suppress IR'. The amount of 'stealth' that results is identical for every ship in the same size category regardless of it's EM/IR and cross section values. (however official 'stealth' ships can hide at closer ranges) I do think reducing your signature might help against missiles. (At the moment. Who knows about long term plans) The lower your IR signature, the less chance a missile will track you properly, and same for EM. Of course, this does mean that a Cross-Section missile will be better on average since you can't do anything about your ship's cross-section Still, haven't attempted to test this stuff (not even sure where you'd start) From people I've seen test stealth it makes no difference to stealthiness of a ship. Just seems that a ship classed as a stealth ship will be invisible until it's within 2 km of a target (or starts firing it's weapons) if it has 'suppress IR' active. While a ship that isn't considered a stealth ship will be visible at about... Either 4 or 5 km was it, in the same conditions? If someone does an active scan they'll spot you anyway, but otherwise you're hidden. (however those same tests showed once you've been detected you have to get something like 40 km away to become invisible again no matter what.) I'm certainly curious what the intent behind the EM/IR stuff was, and whether the current implementation looks anything like the intended final behaviour...

Yes the 325a or Gladius with gimballs are the best light fighters under $90 IMO. And it's not your fault you can't hit anything without auto gimballs once they fix pips it will make since to try fixed if you want a want a steeper learning curve with a better payoff. Right now the pros have to use gumbals to be effective.

No co-pilot necessary. They are all pilot guns until a copilot takes control of one.

@@neonweaver8624 They're classed as remote turrets. The trick here is the pilot can control them, which frequently isn't the case. (and yes, the co-pilot can control them instead of the pilot... Which is how remote turrets work in practice on all ships) The 600i also has remote turrets only. But you don't notice that in the same way because the pilot can't use the as gimbals. (if you could, then the pilot would have 7 guns - 3 size 5 + 4 size 3, which would be an absurd amount of firepower for a single pilot...)
