I'm a carpenter and the description of the industry as a beast with insatiable hunger is pretty suiting.

pretty fuckin much. It's the worst when you're forced to be humbled before the homeowner or bossman.

I love this song so much because I believe it perfectly symbolizes the American youth. Specifically us punks. I feel like this so much, I want to change the way things are and I want to make a difference in the world. But im just one middle class kid. What could I possibly do? It describes a certain type of frustration. We ARE society. Without us the government has no power, but we can't change what needs to be changed, and the answer for why? Because someone says we can't.

sora79531 I feel the song is about the great power play between white and blue collar crowd. Once we realize our power is that they wish for things, we build them. They can't un- wish fir something. But we can certainly tear shit down and refuse to construct it the same way. We can destroy all of their great walls. Like trump's wall. If we refuse to build it, do you think he will with his tiny little hands?

Don't Settle for any less than your own happiness ,Keep searching for a better life and fight like hell to make it happen. Build it and they will come

Thank you for sharing, may we all unite together to take town the evils that try to separate us. The only true separation is in our minds, we are all in this together as society and as the mortar that works hard daily to make this country's wheels turn. May well being follow you where ever you may go and may our paths cross again kind stranger.

Come labor get ready to dance for your bread My son I was once where you stand. There's a beast with insatiable hunger It's minions need crafters and skilled working hands. Needs a fortress high in the hilltops And we are the great chosen crew. But I am a lowly carpenter so What have I power to do? Oh misery call us to rise up at dawn To turn way as fast as we can. We may be the mortar that cradles the brick But I am just one grain of sand. And don't tell me of tossing the wrenches It only brings pleasure and pain. And we are all lowly carpenters so Where we're taken is where we'll remain. And the masters shall govern with unbroken backs Look down from the top of the hills. You can cry through the night just as much as you like There will always be towers to build. I coulda been more than some stone-dragging vassal I could be more than their wood-cutting slave. But we are all lowly carpenters so What have we power to change? And if you can't take no more then get out of the way For we've got a day to get through. We wire their castles, their prisons, and banks Know their mansions from cellar to roof. We've got hammers and wrenches and chisels We could destroy any great wall we come to. But I am a lowly carpenter so What have I power to do?

I think this song is even crazier then about workers or Jesus. I think its about Jesus not wanting to give his life for a people. btw being an atheist doesn't stop one from singing about a god
@brocktherockshaun8 жыл бұрын
+stephen spinato Its about someone thinking they aren't important because they're blue collar but realizing that the working class has strength in numbers

If the carpenter is associated with Jesus, then it's also associated with the Protestant work ethic, which has been twisted into an internalized union buster. OTOH, we wire all the towers and prisons and know the floor plans ,,,
