Pulisic is not above criticism, but when Atalanta scores with 3 defenders on them I feel like someone else should receive the call out. Pulisic was not getting the ball that’s why he was absent but when he did he pushed forward. I still think Jovic is the guy and I hope that connection between him and Pulisic happens, hopefully with Leao too. My main criticism of Milan is they refuse to pass between opposing players. Tiji, Bennacer, and sometimes Pulisic are the only ones making passes between two players. That is why our counter attacks are so ineffective, and why we are so slow on the build ups from the back.
@tonyr.553511 ай бұрын
I feel like the midfield got a pass this game and should’ve come in for some criticism. it’s not a coincidence Pulisic ended his goal drought last game via an assist from the goalkeeper. Everyone from our midfield has no more than one assist this whole season.
@maudalmusicalmachines354111 ай бұрын
I agree that we had a goal coming at the end. I had that same vibe. The team had it... you could feel it. Then Calabria 🤬 You pointed out that Pulisic lost the ball which eventually lead to the losing goal. I was like 'what must he be thinking??!' How many times now has he been let down in the last year by teammates getting sent off? Twice from Dest on his national team. And how many @ Milan now? 3? 4? Seriously... WTF? So though he didn't have a great game *with only 1 assist* , if he lost his cool a bit in this one after *yet another teammate got sent off* I'm going to cut him a break.

The problem was the midfield first, defense second, and forwards third. Know what, I would actually tie the midfield and the defense as the problem. The forwards had a bad game because the midfield offered them nothing for a better passage up field. You can point out Pulisic for losing the ball while trying to take players on, but none of that would happen if one of the midfielders at least linked up with him for an easier passage up field. Same thing with Chukueze. Milan are being outclassed by clubs that play like a team. Milan does not play like a team. The forwards tried to make something happened and was out numbered every time. Pulisic created the most chances and only got one assist from it. That’s a failure on the midfield’s part more so than the forwards trying to make something happen. Nearly all of our goal scoring chances was created by our forwards through multiple games. That’s not good. Reijnders was the worse midfield player on the field against Atalanta and deserve to be pointed out. His failed passes that landed at the opposing player’s feet have destroyed multiple attempts of the team bringing the ball up towards goal. So the main thing that needs to change is the coach, defense, and midfield. The current forwards are good enough while adding in another good striker and forward would be nice. AC Milan gotten to many red cards already this season.
@jamesarndt605911 ай бұрын
I think you've missed the main problem today- how Pioli set the team up. First, when playing out of the back the midfield was so high up the field they were non-existent. For some reason none of them came back to get the ball from Mike and even if they did they were isolated because the outside defenders weren't showing for the ball. Then it became a game of kickball and even then Milan weren't putting enough players in the same area to have a chance of winning a long ball. Yes, Chuk and Pulisic did not have good games, but they were isolated. Most of the time going against 3 players. Chuk would try and then lose the ball while Pulisic would turn into the middle of the field. When the ball was on the wings there were no overloads or players cutting thru. The midfield was MIA today. Pioli does not set the team up to link up play. Last comment- Milan's play is so slow. Sometimes just pass the ball to get it back and move defenders around. Pioli was out coached today!
@footballkush11 ай бұрын
I am not so sure about that, when playing out from the back, the MF did drop back to collect the ball, Musah and Reijnders did that often. It was more that, once they got the ball, the off the ball movement by the rest was so weak there wouldn't be a lot of passing options through the middle and they'd send a heavy cross over the top to the wingers or Giroud. The lack of overload makes some sense too, Florenzi doesn't create that often on the left, maybe because that's not his natural role and he chose to stay with Theo in the back to help in defence more. Also with a weak defence, Calabria chose to stay back too. The sad part is, Milan tried to stay compact in the back due to issues but ended up shipping 3 goals still.
@jamesarndt605911 ай бұрын
@@footballkush It was a combination of both in regards to playing out of the back. When one player would drop back and have 10+ yards of space they wouldn't get the ball allowing the defense to maintain their shape. Pass them the ball, even if it's just to have them pass it back to Mike. I don't remember a single time a midfielder in that position passed back to Mike. Just move the defense around so they have to change their shape. I agree with your analysis of players, but the setup was poor and depends too much on the spectacular play.

You could tell Pulisic was pissed off at himself about both the last goal and the game overall afterwards. It was all over his face. My issue is Pulisic whatever cool but that midfield. RLC cannot function as a 10 and been poor since injury. The Ball Bennacer played to Pulsic is one that Reijnders has been blind to all season. TR takes too many touches and overcomplicates so many plays. They all don’t get the attackers in a position where they can do what Pulisic did after the Bennacer pass. Chuk and Puli are not Leao. Kush never calling out the midfield accept adli. You’re not tied in the 80th if it wasn’t for his constant willingness to take on 2-3 players and facilitate dangerous balls. Anything to convince us your preseason flop still a part of the problem more so than Theo who constantly loses possssion and doesn’t pass to Christian when he’s open. Musah, who somehow floats ambiguously throughout games like you forget he he’s there. And reeindeers who never get the final decision by the box correct and also gets tossed off the ball to easy. Pulsic literally had 90 percent passing, 3 key passes and 1 big chance created and the game tying assist. And won 6/9 ground duals. He was tirelessly working on both ends and always made the right decision. Yes he got dispossessed but he’s been the absolute best in that department compared to any of the attacking players this year. And Leao has been the very worst. Apart from maybe chucky. So be careful what you base your criticisms criteria on. You know what I mean??!

We had most of the team players before inter match but we lost heavily. We couldn't win against Newcastle and BVB .So why still make excuses. You team might be depleted but you could change your approach to matches and be more defensive. Moreso playing Theo as a CB was never a good idea. We got away with it last week due to the weak attack of the opponent but paid for it against Atalanta. What is preventing Pioli from playing Simic alongside tomori. And be more defensive. The team is not scoring more goals either and keeps conceding on all fronts. We must do better.

Scudetto year was magical thanks to some renewed Milan spirit, but once they killed the spirit (bye Maldini Ibra and Tonali) all we've been left was Pioli. The players are good, but they're so clearly confused, they don't know what to do on the pitch cause Pioli keeps on switching positions, making a mess

@murmor689011 ай бұрын
@@ippolita897 RLC is a CM or CAM though and playing more attacking was also his condition to join us, so it isn't going against what he feels comfortable at. FBs going central follows the trend to have inverted FBs to build in a WM shape. We scaled back on that since switching to 4-2-3-1 but it isn't something that is exclusive to us in any way. Against Atalanta we also switched around a bit to confuse their 1v1 press, but what I was talking about are the starting positions and base position radius were we are actually relatively conservative with playing players in position. I agree that Musah should probably be treated a bit more conservatively, but he has experience in 3-4 positions, it is a bit the old problem that a player needs to stay in a position to maximize but playing several positions adds to his value for the team relatively quickly. I think at his current age it is still ok, but he should focus on CM/CDM in the future.

We are reliant of good player's winning 1v1 match up, if they do that we might score if they don't do that we strugle, that's the reason, were the difference in class from single players is noticible, like againts weaker side of teams we win, but not because.we play good football, but beacuse we have better players. However people have to be realistic here: -Kjaer and Ibra who brought a lot of bang for buck are finished/retired. Same goes for Brahim in his case because of the loan and the clock is ticking for Giroud. -Thanks to banter era we lack the substance in the squad to give some natural depth and resources but we have a settlement agreement holding us back instead. -We are also coming from a very bad window at the beginning of last season with a huge flop in CDK and problems like RW kicked down the road. That just cannot be fixed in one window, we made the step to being a top 4 team but we need a lot of our resources to keep that position (Roma, Lazio and Fiorentina are also on the up) and building the squad to a higher level will just take years.

Pulisic has been losing the ball a lot and maybe he and Chuck need to spend more time at the gym. * At least a shout out to Jovic. He used to be a monster at Frankfurt. If by some miracle we find this player again, this would be the cheapest attacking option we will have seen in ages. * I understand that Atalanta had to play CDK, and as an attacker his duty is to attack. However, you don’t celebrate a goal or an assist against your parent club. It’s disrespectful. He shouldn’t have done it and for that. Atalanta will need to pay full price from him, no negotiation possible. If they can't pay for it. EPL will come knocking. He’s proven at Atalanta and should never wear a red and black jersey again.

This is Piolis 5th year and Milan is yet to establish a dominant style or brand of play. Also you need to really wonder what are the instructions being given to the midfielders and wingers. Leao is a dominant figure in the league but too often he himself looks lost as well as other teammates. Then you have Pioli always on the touchline shouting instructions from the start to finish of games after 5 seasons in charge. By now players ought to know whats wanted by the coach. We look at the development of certain players under Pioli but what about the ones that came with such high potential, failed, then magically found success elsewhere. Pioli is a midtable coach and we are currently blinded by that one title he won. The reason Milan fell from grace in the past was because they didnt know when to move on and carried a bunch of dead weight for years. Rn we are doing the same just in the coaching department.

Pioli deserves no credit, the injuries are happening under his watch and he refuses to change his staff and their methods. People think the head coach just has the responsibility of clocking in, training the group, then clocking out. The Coach is the CEO of the sporting side when the season is under way. He should be responsible for everything going well on the sporting side including the wellness of his players mentally and physically. Stop Exempting pioli of the responsibility when it comes to injuries. He should be sacked this month. Enough is enough

While Calabria played bad, Theo an Adli ruined the game for us. Theo was not even bothered to cover De Ketelaere on his 8th minute miss and didn't even bother to run towards the ball (look it up), Atalanta first goal was Rubens direct fault, on Atalanta second goal Theo lost Lookman if you look again that is some amateur defending, shameful and unworthy for a professional player, on the third Atalanta goal Adli firstly lost his man and then lost the ball which was technically in his feet. So i know Calabria is a easy target and you always find a reason to make him the root for our problems, the truth is if you pay a bit of attention there are much worst players on the pitch right now. I mean it is not only him but we should have never tried to force Adli and just sold him in summer. Another decisive blunder and the scene before that he was in huge trouble in a similar fashion to the goal he gave up against Cagliari. He just cannot adjust his body quickly enough and lacks the athletic edge, it is easy for players to loose him, take also the situation where he lost Lee against PSG. He just isn't good enough for this level and management should have trusted the initial sentiment. Also think about Pioli what you want but his base player judgment isn't bad, was true with Hauge and is also with Adli.
@hououinotaku281911 ай бұрын
Nah mate, Pioli's at fault here. Adli is good just not defensively, so it's on Pioli as he had to solidify the defense but opted for Adli. It's like having striker on for your defender. with all due respect but you're waffling. Pioli doesn't have a 'good base player judgment' it's like you ignored all the evidence that points otherwise and went with this...
@murmor689011 ай бұрын
@@hououinotaku2819 No player that wasn't valued by Pioli has really disproven him, all the ones we sorted out are doing pretty bad now. He is pretty good at judging the base of a player and that's the problem with Adli as well. in 2023 you cannot be that sluggish , also not as a CAM. In the 90s it would have been different, Adli would probably be a star in that time.

Management is really a ghost and Pioli don't want to open the eyes, he think if it ended 2-2 then there was positive things to talk about but the only things we saw was an embarassing defence, a non existing midfield, a capitan that make the situation worst and a team that was able to score thanks to a bunch of balls throwed in the box, pioli need to clear his mind or better stop doing post game interview, by the way giroud have to be the third striker for the next season is too important for big goals, i don't know who we will sign but with this team playing this way he still bombing 10/15 goal per season and probably with a real game and more precise corsses he could do a few more so we better keep him for the next season just in case...

If Calabria had some decent midfield ahead of him and some form of defence on this left maybe he wouldn't look as bad as you say. The saddest thing here is that at the end we the fans are struggling, not Milan. Managment clearly doesnt care and thats evident because its unacceptable that this "bald chinese copy of Guardiola" is still sitting on our bench. Cmon! And those comments that they wont fire him because its middle of the season and it could be more damaging cause theres no great option for new coach is just pulling a wall over eyes. He has lost the dressing room and team spirit and thats the worst thing mamager can do. Lets just prepare for summer and most players leaving, including Leao, theo and mike. Who tf would want to come here if this teams is in ruins. But the biggest wtf moment and question is that we spent 100M+ on transfers and somehow playing worst then last season. I can recall some bald jerk saying in interview in preseason that we got all players that we wanted and we are covered. Right...

A lost dressing room isn't equalizing twice in a game. There seem to be tensions but not more.
@johncena-df8qu11 ай бұрын
@@murmor6890 no it isnt. The lost dressing room concedes 3 goals from the team that has been beaten by Torino 3-0. And thats the big problem. From quality point of view we should comfortably beat teams like Atalanta but we arent. Idk what else has to happen so managment and clearly people like you see that Pioli isnt coach for great things. His time on Milan bench is over from last seasons CL semis. And spending more then 100MIl in summer and yet playing worse then last season proves it.

Nah. Puli wasn't good today. Interestingly, I think he's been playing better on the right than on the left. But part of that is that [today] the right side sucked and it puts all the weight on the left. We sensitive Americans have a deep sense of rightness in our sports. One side is protective. The other side is if it's *true* that Pulisic wasn't great today we're going to say so. He wasn't *bad*. But he wasn't good 😏
@maudalmusicalmachines354111 ай бұрын
I also agree that we had a goal coming at the end. WTF? So if he lost his cool a bit in this one I'm going to cut him a break.
