And what have we learned from years of watching Chris, When going on road trip 1.) Pack a shakeable rechargeable flashlight 2.) Pack a 9mm in your "go bag" 3.) Its funny how the old houses always seem to have batteries/matches in every other room or in toilets. But never have candles... oiops. This one did, but apparently it enhances the gameplay to not allow the player to pick them up and use them.

Alex, you're a dev. Next game you make, could you consider letting the players flashlight simply run out and not have the normal battery easter egg hunt? Maybe force them to use a candleabra/candle, with a lighter or matches? Seems like it turns the players attention from all the artwork/scenery and potential clues towards one of just looking in every drawer and capinet for more loot. I'm assuming most devs have a story they want the player to focus on and not racing around just collecting stuff.

Really wish the 'battery hunt' crap would stop in these games. This one was particularly stupid as there were candelabras outside the house, on the steps that could have easily have been picked up by the player. Actually would have been more realistic to have the players battery die and force him/her to pick up a candelabra and walk around with that, with wind elements blowing it out occasionally, and being forced to re-light from another light source. Seems like games are really about loot hunting which totally destroys focus on the game and the story its trying to tell. Think of all the work that some of these creators put in, and most of it is often overlooked as the player is forced to run around trying to find a battery. If they didn't have to do that, they would probably be taking more time to look at the rooms, contents, and see all sorts of clues or world making. When I see flashlights that need batteries every 5 minutes, it tells me the dev needs a crutch, and I'll watch someone stream it instead of buying it.

Alas I am yet to find any "golden" nuggets in mine lol. Also Chris and toilets are an extremely enduring meme, at this point, with seemingly no end. For some reason a thought popped in my head. I wouldn't be surprised, at this point, that if Chris ever proposed to his girlfriend he'd pick the poshest and most luxurious of bathrooms to get on one knee lol Hope your day is overflowing with awesome 🙂

CJUGAMES YOU MISSED SOME SCARES!!! It’s crazy how he misses the fact that when you get the jump Scare in the beginning from the hat rack and go in the room, when you turn around it’s gone and he never noticed. Then when you see the figure at the end of the hallway then go down the hallway and up the stairs he looks at the suit of armor, walks around the staircase to the next flight then you hear the noise that he jumps at the sounds like someone moving a suit of armor and the suit of armor that was there....is gone.

I always giggle a little at the horror genre when it still relies on the whole “no cell phone reception” stranded storyline, the last 5 years or so. Any and all smart phones can use data or emergency mode. Technology really has done horror no favors.

Looking neat so far, the lags are definitely a big issue, also getting stuck between a door, considering you'll have to run around a lot, over all it might be up your alley since checking bathrooms gives you items! Also I have liked, commented and subscribed but I don't think my teenage relatives aren't monsters though lol

I don’t know how much I like the whole strange effect you get when a spirit is nearby that effects the vision. I hate when games do that because it makes it hard to see what’s going on and properly look at the enemy and appreciate the detail and design. Not only that but it legit hurts the eyes and constant whispering was also strange.

I just love the game unintentionally starts with an image of Barrow Hill "never back" car and just after suprise you with entrance gate from Scratches. Not a bad game overall. You even have stucked in toilet so that should be a nice feeling...

Done right it can work, but most games (and especially this one) it just gets silly. You start missing jump scares because you're skimming the countertop looking for another battery. For a really short game like this there's no reason to have it as a mechanic, most flashlights last longer than Chris's playthrough

I don't want to be judging this game early on, but my first impressions of it seem more like a walking simulator. Aside from batteries you're finding keys but not through means of a puzzle, clues, or something--you just come across them almost through trial and error of doors with no threat until later. The notes are few between and aren't enough to truly pull me in the mystery of this family/house. I also question why the protagonist didn't leap out of a window ages ago, no one would stay another second broken down car or not! I thought they were looking for help or a phone, why are they still in that house?? I hope I do get more into it because I like the atmosphere and the monster did look creepy. Either way, I'll stick around since CJU's commentary is always entertaining!

I was thinking the same along with ranting about the Battery Hunt 2021. Seems like this is a walking sim, a very pretty one with lots of nice effects, etc, however story-wise its interesting yet like Chinese takeout... I think we are going to continue to see 'games' like this in the future, where any/everyone can whip out Unity/Unreal to make almost photo quality environments, and then really fail hard at the plot/story-line part.

After the 3rd suit of armor, I figured they might come into play. At the 19m mark when you heard the sound and found the battery, on the way back around you missed the armor was gone. Thats why I think forcing the player to focus on finding batts and such ultimately causes them to misss some of whats going on in the game. Its kinda sad when you see the fantastic graphics, models, overlays, detail, and clues simply missed as focus isn't on the game/story itself but searching for loot. Need a good riff for it, like walking-sim. OK, enough whinging.
