@@archiepratt2499 Sorry if that was cold man, my bad. I'm happy that made you feel good. I hope you don't mind if I give my 2 cents on sobriety. I'm happy it's just weed, but even weed can have it's set backs. Something that helped me depending on the severity of use go a meal or a night without smoking, you may notice you may not eat as much or sleep as well but it's working. I'm a very straight to the point person, as in if I put my mind into something I'll do it 100% so quitting weed for 1 month breaks and having a day or so where I get to sesh has helped me. I have been diagnosed with depression (two years ago and I can comfortably say by working out and taking time to reflect for months at a time I have beaten depression and anxiety, I of course have bad days but I get happy knowing I don't have that anymore. I also stopped taking ADHD + happy meds for more than a year now and I've been feeling SO GREAT) so when it was really bad (anxiety too) I would use weed as a crutch like I think most people, and probably you do. The problem with this is that when you are high all the time you have no time to be truly yourself and learn from yourself and learn who you are. Something great to keep in mind "If you are high all the time, you really aren't getting high, you're getting 'normal'". Find a new addiction, mine is working out. I still appreciate the tasty stanky plant once in a while but I use it once a month and now even longer breaks like a month and a half between usage. And only times when I'm already happy so I won't become dependant on it for when I feel sad or lonely. I know weed can give you that warm embrace but go outside for a walk depending on where you are, get a pet and start working out. These can raise your quality of life tremendously. "Working out is for escaping time and death" something I heard Pewdiepie say in his "Book review" series and I agree, you can use it like this but I use it for peace and a healthy way for me to use my energy. Also the working out high IS REAL and most of the time more enjoyable than weed. I view drugs as a cheat code, and working out or being with friends or studying is playing the game of life properly. Highs you work for are better for you, vs the thing you roll up or some paper under your toungue or a pill. Goodluck man, my bad if this went all out of control since I have ADHD but I hope you read this and put the things i've said into your day to day life.

the part where they start talking about victimizing yourself and labelling yourself with issues like anxiety really opened my eyes and made me realize a lot of things i've been doing these couple of months, i've always stood behind the label of just being someone socially anxious, its gotten to the point where i cant buy or ask for things or do whatever without someone doing it for me. just a couple months ago i changed to a new school which off the bat terrified me and a couple days ago i just got back into in person school, and really struggled to communicate with my teachers and people that i needed stuff from on the first day, since i had no one to help me. every time i have someone do a certain thing for me, i feel guilty but i would always just tell myself its just because i have anxiety so its fine. this podcast made me realize it isn't, it isn't ok to just hide for your entire life behind people, it isn't ok to not try to push yourself to have new relationships. i plan on trying to work on these issues but the problem is, how do i start?...

@@lunaundead6074 it's great that you found friend's that's a huge first step here's my advice for getting out of that rut: work on your physical image. No offense but I imagine if you're in that mental state you aren't a Greek God neither am I lmao also this doesn't work if you're already there. Start lifting to start gaining or losing weight not even to have muscle, while that's a huge plus it isn't as important as a "normal" body. If you don't have weights try to convince your parents to get a barbell set, that's all you need. Start running even if it's in your backyard or in circles in your apartment having stronger lungs means more oxygen to your brain which leads to greater happiness. Do a couch to 5k program. It sounds vain but having a relative confidence in your body and just being healthier will have massive ties to your mental health. It doesn't have to be a strict regiment, just spending some of your free time rather than sitting around doing nothing go for a run or something. I hope this helps.

This is part of the reason why I started working out to get fit, came out as Femboy, and want to be trans, that whole notion of "you either run or stand still" is such a huge phrase that plays with the fact that you can be happy or just miserable. The main thing with clinical/chronic depression is that like, people who aren't effected by it don't understand how irrational it is. How the bone-deep mental and physical exhaustion makes you so burnt out and foggy-minded that nothing seems worth it. Even the thought of helping yourself or trying something to get better either sounds extremely self-centered and selfish or this mountain to climb that's too daunting to even feel worth the effort. Especially with the intrusive/disorganized thoughts that accompany, it drives you deeper into that hole, it feels like trying to swim out of a lake of hot black tar. You can't just, "get better" or "stop being sad"; it takes a fuck ton of willpower and a fuck ton of support to actually manage severe depression or even take that first step.

The topics on this episode were so needed. I am glad we now have something like this for anyone who needed to hear it and or needed some advice from a group of modern day content creators who can be serious but of course crack jokes alone the way :)

13:20 this hits deep. Been enduring it for over 7+ years, and, I wouldn't wave that wand. I feel as if I don't deserve it and I would rather give it to someone else who does. I know it's not the right choice, but I know that even if I wasn't depressed and was offered that wand, I wouldn't wave it. I want to be me, not a fake me. If I stay myself, and I improve upon myself as I am now, I'll be better. I want to be a good person, but it's gonna take a lot of effort. It's hard but, I'm willing.

10 stars for this episode. In this day and age people openly talking about mental health is a breath of fresh air. These are the podcasts I love, removing the stigma about mental health and "normalising" it. Thank you everyone

Whenever I start to feel like I'm dropping down horrendously in life, I always put up this very episode of the podcast. It inspires me to work better. God, I just cleaned my room after a long time of feeling sad for myself. Now I feel like a total boss about my life. This is what I do, I clean up after myself, because I can. Thank you Misfits, you make my life a whole lot better!

The long time depression (persistent depressive disorder) really is as difficult to deal with as they say. I know it’s different for me because of OCD (I over clean everything), but it’s so hard to just get up out of bed. The only motivation I have is knowing that being an adult and going to college will give me more tools to help others. I don’t really care about myself anymore, I just want to make sure that I do some good in the world before I leave

With the depression talk it really put things into perspective for me personally. What i would mention is that if you're feeling depressed, talk to your doctor or just talk to anyone about it really. I found out i was B12 and B9 deficient because i was so depressed, i didn't have a good diet and i wasn't taking care of myself and would just sleep my days away. Obviously depression doesn't just go away with some pills but even something as simple as supplements will help give you some energy or strength to change things so you can feel a little better. Gaining respect for yourself takes time, healing in any shape or form takes time but you always have the opportunity to do better for yourself, even if it means taking the smallest steps to get where you want to be in life. Things will get better.
