I had a stock R26 Megane and it was fantastic to drive. The interior rattled, squeaked and fell apart, but the drive was awesome. Also very reliable, comfortable and economical on longer trips.

This is one of Renault's best RS ever build !!! the shape , the style , the power , sticky in the corners ! Will be buying one next year here in France where so many are still available but not a R26 - way too expensive & rare . I love my Twingo Rs , fantastic cart car for small roads .... but a Megane is something special .

Same here. I own a Twingo RS with the CUP pack. I needed a fun car to drive to work and I had to choose between the Twingo and the Megane. Twingo is really amazing, but I hope I hope I will buy a megane next year. Same in Romania, you can find a Megane RS for 4-7000 euros, but R26 is always more than 10-11K

A friend of mine has a fully stripped track R26 in Liquid Yellow. We recently upgraded the turbo to a 2867r and was mapped to 390hp. The car shifts! Such a fun chassis.

I had one some years ago. I had a rs3 and now an a45. I drove a lot of cars, m4, c63, gtr, but that r26… Probably the car that made me want to drive the most. What a chassis for cornering

Misha, one suggestion, let the owner represent his car! You, and we, will get more info of the car. He said 230 hp, that means this is R26.R! Special version of R26, (lightweight, no back seats,... like race ready) that made same awesome records in his time, even on Nurburgring in his class beating some other special cars like Focus RS!

@gdom7 i have one of these lovely cars... They're all 225hp from the factory, but really easy to tune, a simple RStuning chip takes it up to 267hp + 287 lbs/ft (40kgfm). Add an exhaust, intercooler & uprated injectors = 300+hp & 350 lbs/ft (48 kgfm). Costs less than 1k £or€. Also its a Very lightweight car @1200kg less than the standard 1 by 80kg.

Megane's are Ace. Seriously. I remember seeing this model of Mégane at the 2002 or 2003 Birmingham motor show. The safest production car in the world at that point, even the headrests were designed to minimise whiplash. Very futuristic looking and wonderful car, and still many many around. I hope Renault produces such epic hot hatches in the future. They are legendary.

Quick run. Light and fast with decent handling. Driving a slow car fast, is better than driving a fast car slow. I would recommend for future videos, that all owners clean their windshields before handing over the keys to Misha.

On the slim chance of anybody owning a R26 is reading this: Mine just threw a P0243 code, indicating some failure in the Turbocharger Wastegate Solenoid. The part is called a N75 and is no longer available from Renault. Did anyone replace it successfully with a VW part? They used these in a lot of their Turbo models and they look very similar, but as far as I understand, they can still vary in terms inner resistance, potentially affecting the boost created.

That's just the sound of the engines, I have an R26 Megane in Liquid Yellow. They can rev to 6800rpm, but they sound like they redline at 4000rpm
