Was so stoked to finally see Misha drive a VA. As a VA STI owner myself, I'm so envious and wish I could have the ride of my life like you did with and incredibly talented driver making the most of my car. We'll, I got the next best thing and I'll be Savinng this video and I'll be watching it over and over again on my TV at home. How is your car after rubbing so hot for so long? Did you have a baffled oil pan as well? What turbo are you running with your fmic? Was this run done on E85?

Because most people only invest in the cheapest way to impress friends, they dont know how their cars will behave in real racing conditions, which is overheating and melting. If you increase power, you need to improve braking and cooling, period. If you don't do it this will happen.

Stock cars absolutely can and do overheat if they are not designed to be driven this way (which many are not). There is no point to install oversized radiators and overpowered cooling systems if they will never be seen under design operating conditions and would be a waste of resources and money. Sometimes cars are adapted from the factory for local conditions in the target market (e.g. climate).

You need to take into consideration that Nurburgring is very long and has some proper elevation changes. I bet this Subaru can do like 3 laps on a average 2-3 km long, flat racetrack with ease. And after cooling lap you will be able to do this again.

@@stansuarez Yeah cooling gets a big issue as you go for more power and a lot of people just go for the power without considering its implications on everything else. I would take ~30hp less reliably all day over an extra bit of peak that you can't really use for fear of cooking something. Lets be honest - 365 wheel is still a lot of power and more than enough to be great fun. My old Impreza (GC8) was only just over 300 wheel but it had the right mods and I could just beat on it all day until the tank went dry then beat on it again. Fun fact - the best mod I did to that car was the gearbox and diffs from an RA. It revved hard at high speed but I never took it on long runs anyway and it was a much better drive when caning it. Short/close gearing really works on them.

Those big front mount inter cooler block airflow to the radiator. Thats why it overheated. oh and use redline shock proof gear oil to help the 4th gear grind.

I’ve always wondered why people block the radiators like that. Just get an oversized top mount intercooler and an oil cooler and you’re golden.

Nice video, miss the STI, it’s sad Subaru discontinued STI and now build new wrx on SUV forester chassis and SUV open front diff and open rear diff. They need to bring back STI with that nice front LSD, center DCCD diff, and rear LSD.

Early in the drive you shifted and your feet were late, big pause of power in the straights, timing is crucial not only in the turns but the straights! Try driving normal your feet don’t know where they’re going they look confused!

Oil so hot it dropped down 1.0 bar, thats why it beeped when the rpms dropped below 1500rpm😅😢 iam afraid that engine has irreversible damage now. Shame because the drive was awesome.

@kevina.4036
@kevina.4036 11 ай бұрын
I've had a 19 sti for almost 5 years. Subaru made 3rd gear really short. So there is a big drop in engine speed from 3-4 downshift. I don't think tranny syncros can keep up at high rpm in 3rd going into 4th when shifting fast. You have to granny shift if at top of 3rd.
@stansuarez
@stansuarez 11 ай бұрын
Yup was thinking of dropping the ratios of 4th and 5th on my VA as well. Keep 6th where it's at for a freeway cruising gear.
@Black16STI
@Black16STI 9 ай бұрын
@@kevina.4036 True. It's also not the easiest. Lots of track have 3rd to 4th gear shifting right hand turns. And when you're wheeling around a right hand apex in 3rd shifting to 4th, leaning away from the shifter, you can easily mis 4th because you naturally will pull towards you vs. perfectly straight back. Especially when at 1+ lateral G's.

Hello, new to the channel, could anyone explain why does Misha takes such long time between shifts throughout the video? Is that normal for track?
@alivenumber5
@alivenumber5 Ай бұрын
I think he’s just making sure he gets extra clean shifts to preserve their clutch and transmission. He drives so many peoples different cars that he might just be playing it safe.
