Though after seeing the lap on video, being able to compare to other cars, I now realize the tires are proper sh** 😄 Oil temp reached 134° C on our last wet lap, so I requested to take it easy on the uphill part, which I later regretted.

oil temp is a serious problem when stock, had that car 20y ago and loved it, its an amazing car but in summer the oil reaches 130 degree within a heartbeat its crazy

Heel-toe is next to impossible in that car. It's not just you. I've seen over 150° oil temp in my VRT. Send it, change it after! 😂

Those Corrados look so damn good in real life! Im coming from east germany and sometimes far away from the big citys u will see small repair shops having pretty much prestine conditions corrados and GTI's standing around. Beautiful cars!

Or straight up rotting away, already saw a vr6 mk3 thats getting back to its elements 3 kilometers away from my home, and a couple of mk2 gtis and jettas on route to my work, and nobody can save them, they are going to the underground with their owners who wanted to restore them (never had any Motivation to do so yet also not willing to seperate from the cars)

Man, around 2003, I bought a G60. I got it for $500!!! An old man that I worked with around that time kept telling me about it. He just kept saying I got a car I wanna sell its a turbo ...its a turbo. After months of him bugging me, I went to his house, and man, when he opened the garage, I instantly fell in love with that car❤. Nice green color, no dings or dents. The only things it needed were an alternator, battery, oil change, and spark plugs. I was the only one in pasadena at that time that had a G60.

An old friend of mine had a G60 and a VR6, both were in a state of disrepair and gathering rust. When he eventually got the VR6 roadworthy I remember going for a drive in it, the thing was an animal! Don't know if he'd modified it, but the power/torque delivery was instant. I was driving a BAM engined Audi TT at the time and he was stuck to my rear bumper like glue when we went for a spirited drive on the back roads.

For an old girl they are still one of VW’s best ever cars and one of the first I saw with an active rear spoiler. The Storm was awesome and I had friends with G60’s ( supercharged 1.8). One had a Scirocco GT2 that was a lovely car too. I do love a classic!

In 2000 I was drooling over the VR6 Corrado but at 20 years old it was out of my price range. The G60 would've been nice too but the VR6 was my 1st pick. I loved the chiseled lines it has, how the spoiler went up at 40mph and I really liked the headlights and taillights. Thanks Misha and to the owner for bringing me some fond memories of a car I wish I had:D

Finally, I had a Corrado VR6 for 11 years, by far my favorite car. A VR6 with cams and a lightweight flywheel does pretty nicely, upgraded cooling system, suspension and brakes, oh I miss that car.

I had a 1994 Corrado VR6 from new (for 12 yrs). I had done similar mods, including a set of track tires. It was a very enjoyable car, that punched well above its weight on track. And that engine 🎶!!

VR6s are just special. Nothing really sounds like them. They're so steeply angled, they're nearly an inline. Very cool engines. In all my VW days I never owned one with a VR6, but kinda wish I had.

Love it. Not uncommon to see 260-280°F for oil temps on a hot track day on a VR6, even with an oil cooler. Lots of right handers are issues with oil pickup and a baffled pan is key. A lot of heat can be mitigated with removal of oil/coolant exchanger. Long time (20year) owner of a VR6 and it still is one of the most fun cars in the collection. Great video!

With the addition of a Mocal oil cooler it runs cooler coolant temps than with it on it. It also removes the potential for coolant/oil intermix. @@Jeff_F7

I've had two Corrado's, both G60.. Loved them! Always had issues and spent most of the time repairing them, but those are still the cars I enjoyed the most. Even now, when I'm able to afford more expensive cars, nothing comes close to the fun of a Corrado

What a clean Corrado. It was also my dream car, but had no money for it back then and bought Astra GSi c20xe. And one night had a streetrace with VR6 corrado which I won, cause Astra was lighter than stock with modified exhaust and ecu. Damn those were great times. G-60 was a better car, because I had one. Pulley and ecu remap was 210+ with the remus exhaust. Never did the cam upgrade, it was already a bit much! Nice car, nice drive!

Had one in my early 20's. Had a massive smash in it which changed the course of my life unfortunately. I was parked up and an old couple hit me from behind at around 50mph. The handbrake was up and the shunt lifted the back end of the car off the floor and down the road about 20ft or so. It was my dream car too.....i had waited a good few years to find a low mileage clean example. A lovely car. First time i jumped in my 2 series coupe i said wow how much it felt like the Corrado in the way that u feel like your very low down in the car. I now need to work on trusting other drivers around me as i still struggle with ptsd from a more recent accident that was eerily simular😢🙄

Al jaren kijk ik je video's Misha. Bij deze Corrado voor de eerste keer toch een reactie van mij want wauw wat een jeugdsentiment. Als ik naar school fietste als tiener reed er steeds dezelfde vr6 en op een dag haalde hij een tractor in met vol gas. Ik was verliefd. Wat een geluid en emotie. En jawel na een Peugeotje 205 xs werd mijn jeugddroom vervuld met de aankoop van mijn eigen zwart metallic vr6 icm bbs velgen. Elke rit een glimlach, behalve bij het tankstation waar ik mijn zuurverdiende geld aan uitgaf. Zelfs een rondje Nurburgring ermee gedaan, dat was 2012. # petrolheads

I had a 1990 MK2 Golf GTi 16v years ago. It had high lift cams and did 155BHP @ Wheels. On Hot days the oil would get to 115C very quickly with just normal sensible driving. It would hit 140 if you had some fun. VW manual said 70C - 115C was normal. I fitted a Mocal oil cooler and on the hottest days the oil would NEVER get above 95C. Get an oil cooler and Misha will be able to do a full send. Lovely looking car, really like that colour. My golf was red, then pink, then polished to red and repeat. 🤣

I test drove a used Corrado in the 90's and it was awesome. Too bad i couldn't actually afford it at the time. I also got pulled over by a Vancouver cop because it had a ridiculously loud catback exhaust with a 5" tailpipe. I just told the cop it was a test drive, so he let me go with a warning.

In 1990, I bought the first G60 Corrado (also in green) ever to come to the Atlantic provinces of Canada, and looked to ‘upgrade’ to the first VR6 engined Corrado SLC when it arrived. But despite the brilliance of the VR6, the extra weight (more than 400 lbs) and the more luxury suspension tuning (tall like it was on stilts compared to the G60) took away the nimbleness of the more powerful SLC. Too much Luxury at the expense of Sport for the newer Coupe. That said, it remains one one of the greatest cars I’ve ever owned and I miss it dearly (currently the garage include a 991.2 Turbo, Taycan 4S, and Cayenne EHybrid). 11 years of ownership; 495,000 kms, and not a spot of rust- still the factory beeswax formulated undercoating dripping from vent holes in the hatch when I sold it. Karmann did an amazing job building these cars, and much of the tech was leading edge. If memory serves (correct me if mistaken), the fuel injection system was the same as used in the 911 Turbo of the same timeframe (Bosch Motronic???) for example. R&T declared the G60 the best handling front drive car ever in its first test with a great photo of the magic of the trailing arm: ‘inside rear wheel aloft’. You can see in your video Misha, the car rotating on several occasions, very neutrally thanks to this characteristic - would have been awesome to get some shots trackside at some choice corners. Kudos to the owner for retaining a largely stock appearance to the car. Loved watching this video, thank you.
