A modernized PP-19, called the PPK-20, has been seen in Ukraine and carried by FSO SBP (presidential security). Unfortunately, it looks like the back of the receiver and the rear trunnion are different to the PP-19 so that they can accommodate a new kind of right-side folding stock. That means we can't easily convert KR-9s even if we had the new parts.

My dealing and experience has been great and there 103 sidefolder with the cold hammer forged chrome lined barrel has about 7 thousand round and never a single malfunction and it has zero wear on all internals. I bought it the first day released and bought the kp9 when they were release and have had zero problems with it

I’m barley an hour in yet I feel the need to make this comment… this video is unbelievable, it’s a travesty it only has 20k views but I guess a 7hr ak overview is a niche topic lol. As others have said you ARE & SHOULD be known as THE AK guy. I’m so impressed & jealous I couldn’t start collecting untill much later. I love aks but only have a SAR1 (my prized possession) this has made up my mind that my focus will now be collecting import AKs. I know it’s late in the game but still some good options out there I suppose, stuff that as you’ve shown will go up in value once imports are cut off (beryls, Galils, all the new yugos). Trying to do some math but I wonder what the dollar value it this collection, esp compared to the $ it was purchased for. Your such a treasure & really an inspiration. you show that people can overcome anything life throws at them.

I'm still working my way through this marathon 3 months later, but dropping back in to say that, while I can't say that I've seen a folding stock M62/S, I have seen a milled folding stock M76 in 7.62x39 which had the same style receiver as an M62/S, as far as I could tell, including lightening cuts. I would have sworn it was a late model M62/S, but there are catalogue images of that exact rifle and Valmet calls them M76. The only difference I could tell between the milled M76 and the M62/S (besides the folding stock) was the safety: On the milled M76, the tip of the safety lever has a concave ledge on the top edge. The M62/S does not have that feature, nor does the M71, nor the more common stamped M76.

A few other minor differences: updated handgurds, updated pistol grip, larger rear sight protector ears, and a non-captive recoil spring/guide rod assembly. Also most M76 imports had the trip ledge machined off the bolt carrier, while most M62s retain it. After doing this collection video, i did post a video on the M76 milled tube folder, but it was a .308 variant and not X39 sadly.

I grewup with firearms, but didn't really discover the AK until I was in college. To be fair, before that time, there weren't many AK variants available in the USA (especially in pre-internet Southern towns). Really you just saw Chinese and that was it. Never really saw Egyptian Maadis or Hungarian FEGS down here until years later. Valmets were always a richman's game too.

Sako still makes assault rifles. Sweden and Finland ordered new AR type rifles for their defense forces. They look very nice. And DMR also 7.62×51mm. Sweden ordered large quantities of 5.56×45mm. Unfortunately that is a subjective question and decision. It has to be up to you? Which pattern fits you better? Both are equally reliable and will probably be roughly the same accuracy.

My training partner has one of those arsenal 104ur he did the sbr paperwork after he had it for about a year but he put the solid body black stock and zentico handguards on it. I've tryed hard talking him into wooden handguards and triangle stock. But he won't go for it but that's my style. The kind is Iconic for the triangle folder with the wooden handguards. But yet again I don't have one it's his. But is super iconic and super cool and super fun to shoot for sure. I missed out thinking I would always beable to get one for cheap like a fool. So ever since arsenal stopped importing there stamped aks. Everytime a import comes in I jump on it I learned my lesson that they dissappear. And I'm not missing out on imports again

From one collector to another Do you constantly wipe guns down with oil and clean them after touching them? I notice the guns I handle more in general are more prone to rust like on my ak or garand the charging handle rusts if I don’t keep tabs on it

Individual body chemistry has a good bit to do with that. Some people just have more sweaty palms too.If i notch my hands are damp at all, i try and not touch a gun. If i have to, yes I wipe i t down. I just keep oily rags scattered about the gun room. Not relaly a cleaning, just a swipe of oil to counteract any water stuffs.
