Completely new to leverless, might be a silly question but could you show how to get your button layout on steam?
@Chris_F6 ай бұрын
I’ll put together a KZbin short for this
@bowsrcs6 ай бұрын
I noticed when setting up my own layout that with the settings described at the beginning of the video, you're not actually sending both analog and dpad inputs to the game. That "Left" or "Right" in the Pin Mapping menu is just the generic version, which gets sent as whatever you set the D-Pad Mode to in the Settings page. So you just have two buttons both mapped to the left analog stick directions. If you want your controller to actually do both, there's more you need to do. 1. In the Settings page, set the D-Pad Mode to either D-Pad or Left Analog Stick. Doesn't matter which you choose, just remember this for later. 2. In the Pin Mapping page, instead of setting your extra buttons to Left and Right, set them to *DDI Left* and *DDI Right* 3. Finally, in the Add-Ons Configuration page, scroll down and enable *Dual Directional Input*. Set the Dual D-Pad Mode drop down to the opposite of what you set in the settings page, and set the Combination Mode to None. In the in-game Button Mapping page, if you click the "Check Button Input" option you can test your inputs and see if you got it set up properly. One thing to keep in mind with this, however, is that the SOCD doesn't apply between both input types. e.g. If you hold Left+Right on your main directional inputs, then press Right on this extra DDI button, you'll get Right instead of neutral. I haven't had any issues due to this yet, though.
@MegaWilliamDeth6 ай бұрын
I noticed this myself, and did the same as you explained when i didn't get the same inputs as shown in the video by follwing it. But by having it in d-pad mode and ddi left analog/right analog, i still dont get the easy wavedashes and kbd's, but i guess thats fine sicne it feels a bit cheap imo. Still great for electris tho either way you set it up
@katze99126 ай бұрын
Could you explain why this distinction matters? As in, are there pros and cons to what you’re describing vs what the setting the video describes
@bowsrcs6 ай бұрын
@@katze9912 This setup mimics the inputs you have on a pad (dpad + stick). While I'm not familiar with tournament rules, I see this as the most likely setup to be legal, since the game will see the buttons as two distinct inputs. A keyboard can already do this in the in-game button mapping menu, so doing it on a leverless isn't much of a stretch in my eyes. It is still mapping an analog input to a digital one, though, so I wouldn't go using it in tournaments without double checking the rules first. If you don't plan on ever competing, then this distinction doesn't matter. The setup in the video is arguably better since you gain full benefit of the SOCD cleaning on both buttons, rather than it only applying to inputs of the same type.

Hi Crhis! I hope you will reply. I bought S16 and im having so much fun using it thanks to you. I can do electric like 19/20 times without an issue. Thanks to your guide. I was able to master wavedash into electric side step electrics.dash electric. back step and so on. double electric is not an issue on p2 side(right) but on p1 side. But I started to notice something about doing 2 consecutive electrics on Player 1 side. (left) first electric is always ok. But the 2nd one is inconsistent. And for some reason I'm 100% sure im pressing the same button. but the input showing on my screen like 80% of the time when I do the 2nd electric on p1 side is F D DF+2 no neutral. I was able to get electric. but sometimes just DF2 move not the electric. I can't understand why it's happening on p1. but not on p2. On p2 side. 2nd electric is F N D DF+2. but again on p1 it's inconsistent and most of my input on 2nd electric is without Neutral

The rules state that you cannot have a controller that does something a PlayStation controller *cannot* do through regular settings + Tekken 8 button mapping config. I tested, and you can re-map the left analog stick to the right analogue stick on a PlayStation controller through Tekken 8 settings, making things like wavedash and PEWGF easier. This is essentially the same thing, except I’m mapping the L analog stick to a button

The T16 had a mixbox layout with the up button above as a default so i dont think if there are any jump input we can still do it with out the jump button below. And you mentioned in the video that you have a custom button layout with the T16, if you could, can you made a video specific about it. Thanks for this tutorial, it's really helpful. As far as I know it is. It is the same setup as a hitbox crossup which is tournament legal for Tekken. This would be illegal for street fighter 6 however
@RottenPizza8015 ай бұрын
@Chris_F it isn't, the tekken world tour doesn't allow 2 buttons that operate the same function. The crossup is only allowed because it's two different input types: a lever and buttons. That's the distinction.
@Chris_F5 ай бұрын
They don’t operate the same function, though. The left buttons are set to DPad and the right buttons are set to analog stick, which is what’s possible on a ps4/5 controller. I’m not being contentious btw just explaining what I know from what I’ve checked
@RottenPizza8015 ай бұрын
@Chris_F you still have two separate buttons operating the same function of moving right. At the end of the day if you can't set it up to do what you want in the in-game options menu and have to use a separate function (like the steam input settings), then it's not legal. Also ya I get you I'm just trying to explain since I just barely got told off for having the same setup when I went to my local lol.
@Chris_F5 ай бұрын
@RottenPizza801 interesting. Thing is, you *can* replicate this through the Tekken controller mapping menu on a ps5 as long as you’re using a ps4/5 controller. The rules state that your non-pad controller can’t be set to do anything that a pad can’t (but this setup is just allowing you to do what a pad CAN). I’m willing to bet the there’s a misunderstanding going on at a technical level, which is why you had the TO give you a hard time at your local.

Okay this setup is actually brilliant lol, true Crossup style leverless advantages You mentioned that on your personal layout you had the second set of movement controls mapped to the bottom and top "extra" buttons on the T16. Got mine after I saw your video a few weeks back and it'd be cool to see another video or maybe a short of you doing some of these using the T16 extra buttons. Why do you prefer using those compared to the normal ones you showed in this video? Curious
@Chris_F7 ай бұрын
So glad you like it! TBH I thought I would get a lot of angry comments about this which is why I took so long to upload this video. Did a lot of research to make sure that everything is tournament legal and then I decided to just upload it. I stream on twitch! I’ll be streaming Tekken all weekend so check it out there if you want to see me with my layout (link in bio) Short answer tho: I do it my way bc I like to use my ring finger to do 1+2 since throw breaks have a bit of a bug in this game - I have a KZbin short about this so check that out too!

Thank you very much for the help I can now do normal electrics consistently. But I can't understand your instructions for the PEWGF aren't you just doing the same input as EWGF just faster? If you could clarify the difference between the two I would greatly appreciate it.
@Chris_F6 ай бұрын
But of a common misconception but the inputs are not the same. A regular EWGF that all mishimas use is F, N, D, D/F+2. PEWGF can only be done by Kazuya and Reina in T8; the input is F, N, D/F+2 Check my inputs in the video

First of all, I have and play with a leverlesscontroller to, but I understand the people they say that this is cheating. Man the executions makes the move so hard. I have to learn very very much to hit the ewgf consistently cause it’s very hard with separate hands but technically you have with this setup an unfair advantage opposite anyone who doesn’t use or doesn’t have it… and the ewgf is designed around the hard execution but u don’t have this.. so u are cheating cause you have an unfair advantage. Maybe think about it ✌️

@senX5 ай бұрын
so you put in on left stick, so the controller native left right up down buttons are mapped to mimick stick inputs. it works for me, but i have no way of binding dpad left/right anywhere then. when i go into tekken8 button mapping and check keys, it just looks like i bound 2x leftstick left and 2x rightstick right inputs. what am i doing wrong? :

My question is how would this work for locals. Most are run on a PS5 and so it has me wondering if u use a converter (i.e a Brooks Converter) does the PS5 recognize the device as a controller and will it understand that the pins are different directions. Its hard to put into words, but if i take my Haute leverless with a brooks converter to a local will it remember all of the settings that are on the controller or would i have to change the settings on the PS5 which i feel like most people would find issue with.
@Chris_F2 ай бұрын
So the RP-2040 board in a haute runs on two processors. The converter runs through one, and your main settings/inputs on the second. There is NO need to reset/reconfigure your settings as long as you set up everything properly! I used these exact settings on several PS5 consoles at evo japan with no issues at all

Nice content bro. I do this same thing with a slightly different configuration. I mapped the left input to the button above the two punches for easy 2p side mechanics in general (not just mishimas) but it was getting hard for me to do wave dashing + ewgf with the SOCD method you explained in a previous video. No problem with 1p side, everything is easy without having to setup extra buttons. I will try this new method on a second profile to see how it goes.
